Can we see our data in the area Object data afterwards? Answer: To import your own material data into WinSLT it has to be wavelength-dependent spectral data. You can choose between two different formats: 1. WIS-format 2. Excel file 1. WIS-Format Create with a text editor of your choice a new file. For this you can use for example Notepad++. This a very powerful freeware tool for creation and modification of.txt and.spc files. After you create a new file you have to insert the following lines from the red box into your editor. Values that can be modified are red. The needing of the optional fields can depend on the version you own or special functions for WinSLT add-ons. Blanks in the header will be ignored but blanks in the body of the file are not allowed. You have to exchange every comma to a point. Most editors have the function Search and Exchange. You should use this function to make sure that no comma was overseen. Underneath you will see an screenshot of how your file should look like. After you finished you have to save this file as.txt or.spc! Seite - 2 -

3 2. Excel file: Create with excel a new file. It should look like the table you will find beneath. Alternatively you can use the model excel file from WinSLT. You will find it in your installation in the folder named importmuster. The yellow deposited fields will be queried for values while importing the file into WinSLT. The only mandatory fields in this method are the spectral data. There have to been filled out at least two lines of the spectral data fields. One of theme has to have a wavelength of 300 nm or less and the other one has to have a minimum wavelength of 2500 nm. 4 3. Starting the import After you have finished your import file you can start the import in the expert mode of WinSLT by clicking on Start import in the left bottom corner of the window. After you double click on Start import a new window will open. 1. Set the type of material that you want to import 2. Select the path to the file that you want to import by using the folder button. 3. Click on the file and confirm your settings by using the OK button. 4. Correction dialog Wavelength: If the wavelength unit wasn t set in the file you will receive a window in which you can choose your wavelength unit. If you are importing more files at once you can set the wavelength unit for all by using the button Für alle weiteren übernehmen. Seite - 4 -

5 Correction dialog Finally you will receive the correction dialog which allows you check the importing values and make changes if necessary. After you verified the import values click on OK to finish your import. If you don t want WinSLT to show this dialog any time so you have to set the hack on Diesen Dialog nur bei unvollständigen / fehlerhaften Importdateien anzeigen. After you checked this field the dialog will just be shown, if the import file is incorrect or incomplete. After you finished, the new material will saved under Import. Please be aware, that this material is now in the database. For changing the values it will not be enough to change only the import file. You must do the import process again with the changed file, so that the new data will be stored in the database of WinSLT. Seite - 5 -
