1 About: Our Client - GFT GFT Technologies AG ( has it s headquarter in Germany and over 22 offices in 7 different countries, and with customers based in over 30 different countries. GFT employs about 1,300 permanent employees and 1,300 freelance IT consultants. GFT AG has two main business areas namely services and resourcing. They have over 250 enterprises rely on their solutions; they cater almost 15 global market leaders and more. They are value- centric firm, serving their customers with long-term relationships, reliability and professionalism as much as their customers do. About: equadriga equadriga Software Private Limited was started in December 2000 as the first MNC in Trichy, Tamilnadu. It was started to cater to the software development needs of the Klett Group, Germany. In October 2003, equadriga software was acquired by GFT Technologies, Germany and became their offshore development center. In March 2008, equadriga again became independent to explore new markets and GFT still continues as a shareholder in equadriga. Starting from its initial days, equadriga has been catering to the European market and hence, "Delivery on Time, Delivery with Quality" has been the mantra which has elevated the company to where it stands today. Situation GFT Marketing requires publishing the contents on their website that are valuable to their customers, investors, stakeholders and the form. They want to deliver financial and business reports, investor presentations, information about customers and partners, news and events, information about GFT share, job offers, news to press and media centers, press downloads, newsletter, GFT locations, overview about their services and solutions, and country wise happenings about GFT. And also they want to deliver the contents with quality, well presentable and publishing it on schedule. They also need to track down the visitor of their website and get feedback from their customers or visitors to improve or to help their marketing to global delivery. GFT Marketing requires a platform to maintain a content and media files properly and their content authors manage the content and they deliver the website pages to public in their website domains.

2 Solution GFT Marketing with equadriga decided to go for Day Communiqué The following points were considered for arriving at this decision: Content authors can easily use and manage the website content using web based solution. Since Day Communiqué provides generic features using java based technology that can be customizable based on GFT Website design. Day Communiqué provides two instances namely author and publish. Content author can create website pages in author instance and they can deliver the pages to publish instances to relay the website for public. Apart from this generic platform like authoring and publishing, GFT Marketing requires Quality assurance stage to preview their content quality before publishing to the public. equadriga's Domain expertise and availability of experienced in web design and web development team at Offshore (India) to support GFT website. Why Day Communiqué 3.5.6? Communiqué is a web application that runs inside an application server. In particular, a Communiqué instance is a Java servlet deployed and running within the servlet container of an application server. This means that, in principle, Communiqué can be run on any application server that has a servlet container. This includes both servlet engines - those like Apache Tomcat or the bundled Communiqué Servlet Engine, that include only a servlet container - and full-fledged J2EE application servers - those like BEA WebLogic that includes both a servlet container and an EJB container (though Communiqué does not use the EJB functionality). Day Communiqué has CMS based features like template, components, organizing website pages, archive for media library files, user management and access control list, versioning, indexing, content modification (commit/rollback) Multi-Site-Manager, audit logs,

3 publish/deactivate content and website pages, workflow, development environment. Day Communiqué provides solution regarding dispatcher via Apache web server. This solution handles the local cache in Apache web server and reduces frequent call to Day Communiqué application. This increases website relaying performance in public site. Package and deployment: It is easy to make backup or transfer the content, files and pages, etc., from one instance to another instance within Day Communiqué instances. Development and customization: Day Communiqué has its unique API based on Java technology. So it is possible to customize our own website using their API that can meet GFT's website requirements. Content author creates and modify the pages and activates the pages from Author instance. So, page is published to QA stage (QA stage author, QA stage publish and QA stage dispatcher) While publishing, a workflow process handles the notification to an inbox of Content author and content quality analyst about published pages. Content author and content quality analyst can preview the published pages to verify the quality of the content before delivering it to public. After content quality check then author can publish those pages to pub instances (pub1, pub2 and pub3) and relayed thro Apache web server in dispatcher machines (dsp1, dsp2 and dsp3). Load balancer handles the balancing techniques and solves visitor's traffic regarding

4 GFT Website implementation - Case study GFT website was implemented using Day Communiqué as initial well organized website in the year Major re launch has happened in the years 2007, 2009 and 2011 that enriches the website with better performance. In the initial launch of the website, content author need to take care of organizing the website pages with various template. Templates are made up of static and dynamic components. Components are individual and logical modules that renders the stored metadata of the content. Content authors have various access rights to organize the template pages using ACL through user management. Due to difficulties in organizing various templates, successor launches in the years 2007 to 2011, template's types were reduced to countable templates with dynamic layout, based on the inner components composed by content authors. Some of the components required to display the content from external sources such as job board (Freelancer area) from Tomcat application. This was accomplished by Server Side Includes (SSI) in Apache web server, AJAX and web service (RESTful) implementation. Third party implementations are also incorporated with GFT website such as Social network group from "addthis". Website visitor's information gathering using Google Analytics script. Map based job search using Bing map and Google map. Challenges faced Content migration was done on each re launch of GFT website that reduces the effort from content author's perspective. As the volume of the content maintained by the content

5 authors were huge, it became a potential challenge to also ensure quality over every new launches. On re launch there was major swapping has held in the flow of pages organized. Content Switching from languages covering unit-by-uni. Introducing counties above to language's nodes. Website rendering had been taken care with CSS2 and CSS3 supported browsers such as IE6 to IE9, Firefox major releases, Google chrome, Safari and Opera. In addition, Cyclic Redundancy Check(CRC) checks against content quality was implemented as part of QA stage to ensure whether content was delivered to all publish lines. This generates the CRC value for each page from all publish lines and compares with the preexisting values. It solves time consuming issue by checking the Page's complete content line by line between publish lines. Customized "404 - page not found" page was implemented using ESP (ECMA Script Pages) scripts in DAY Communiqué and Apache web server configuration to guide and divert the visitors if bookmarked pages that might unavailable later. Monitoring process was also implemented to avoid surprises such as system down, content delivery failures and so on. Scheduler based approach was implemented in code level and the support of GFT IT IS. GFT IT IS has configured our request for monitoring using monitoring tool namely Nagios. That notifies to mail group about response status from GFT Website application or system.
