The purpose of this evaluation was to determine where trucks of varying sizes will cross the centerline of the road. This memorandum summarizes our findings. Methodology The utoturn 1 software package was used for this evaluation. This software allows vehicle turning paths to be overlaid onto drawings, tracing the paths of all wheels as well as the path of any overhanging part of the vehicle. The following merican ssociation of tate Highway Transportation Officials (HTO) standard vehicles were evaluated: HTO U Truck: 30 foot long single unit truck (similar to current shuttles) HTO us-0: 0 foot long bus HTO -0: emi truck with 33 foot long trailer (3. foot total length) HTO -: emi truck with. foot long trailer ( foot total length) dditionally, the alifornia egal- emi truck with foot long trailer ( foot total length) was evaluated. etailed dimensions of each of these vehicles are shown on igure 1. n uto drawing of the ab along with imagery from Google arth were used to determine the horizontal alignment of the roadway, as well as shoulder and centerline stripe locations. ane widths were also spot checked in the field. ach truck was evaluated on the roadways and through intersections throughout the ab to determine if the vehicle fits on the roadway and if any part of the vehicle crosses the centerline of the roadway. t was assumed that the vehicle could cross over the white shoulder stripe if there was no adjacent parking to avoid crossing the centerline ringle venue, uite 00 alnut reek, 99 (9) ax (9)

2 es utton, lair Horst October 1, 009 age of imitations The utoturn software only analyzes turning movements in the horizontal plane and does not account for vertical information, such as steep terrain or abrupt grade changes. These factors may also limit truck maneuvering and would need to be evaluated further. The uto drawing of the ab only shows edges of pavement and does not include centerline striping, shoulder striping or accurate curb and gutter locations. Thus, Google arth imagery was used. n certain locations this imagery is limited by trees or defects. These locations were field measured; however, if more precise analysis of certain intersections is needed, it is recommended that a detailed survey of the area, including striping, be completed. esults The results of the evaluation are presented on igures through, with additional notes on igure 7.
