3 NET - 01 Configuration for monitoring and centrally managing failures in the network and those related to the system resources of servers This configuration allows users to visualize the entire network configuration, and to monitor and centrally manage failures in the network and those related to the system resources of servers. Conditions assumed in this example configuration Network management server Number of servers: 1 OS: Managed devices Number of devices: 20 [Breakdown] Monitored servers (agents): 8 OS: Monitored servers (agents): 8 OS: Monitored network devices: 4 Note: A web browser must be installed on viewer machines. Example configuration Viewer Internet Explorer Network management server JP1/NNMi JP1/SSO Reference: Configuration using JP1/NNMi Advanced JP1/NNMi Advanced is an advanced product of JP1/NNMi and supports all functions of JP1/NNMi. It also supports technology such as link aggregation and RRG (Router Redundancy Group) for ensuring the performance, availability, and reliability of networks. With JP1/NNMi Advanced, you can also manage IPv6 networks and achieve advanced network monitoring operations. 4 NET - 02 Configuration for monitoring the operating statuses of system resources and processes The configuration allows users to monitor, in real time, the operating statuses of system resources and processes on, UNIX, and servers, as well as the operating statuses of network devices that support SNMP. 5 NET - 03 Configuration for monitoring failures and centrally managing large-scale networks by splitting the management scope and distributing loads across sites This configuration can be used to visual the entire network configuration and to perform integrated monitoring of network failures and of the system resources on servers in a large-scale network. Integrated monitoring is achieved by splitting the scope of management via the use of multiple regional managers for managing individual sites, and a global manager for managing the regional managers as a whole. Conditions assumed in this example configuration Example configuration Global manager Number of managers: 1, OS: Regional manager Number of managers: 2, OS: or Number of managed devices: 1,600 [Breakdown] Monitored servers (agents): 600 OS: Monitored servers (agents): 300 OS: UNIX (AIX) Monitored servers (agents): 300 OS: Monitored network devices: 400 Notes: - A web browser must be installed on viewer machines. - In this example configuration, the global manager manages 1,600 devices and each regional manager manages 800 devices. Each manager requires as many licenses as the number of devices it manages. Viewer Internet Explorer Headquarters Viewer Internet Explorer Regional manager JP1/NNMi JP1/SSO WAN Global manager JP1/NNMi Advanced Regional manager JP1/NNMi Advanced JP1/SSO Viewer Internet Explorer Reference: Global manager For the global manager used to perform integrated management of large-scale network environments, JP1/NNMi Advanced is required. JP1/NNMi cannot be used as the global manager. Reference: Regional manager Both JP1/NNMi and JP1/NNMi Advanced can be used as regional managers to manage individual sites in a largescale network environment. These two products provide the same global network management functions. 6 NET - 04 Configuration for developing applications to be used by linking with the network node manager This configuration is useful when developing applications that use information managed by a network node manager, such as incident and node information. Such information can be displayed in business portal windows. Conditions assumed in this example configuration Server for the application development environment Number of servers: 1 OS: Test environments Number of devices: 100 [Breakdown] Servers: 80 Network devices: 20 Note: In this example configuration, JP1/NNMi DTK includes additional node licenses for JP1/NNMi (for 50 nodes).
