1 Appendix G West Australia 1 Classifications and Wages Rates (FURTHER DISCUSSION AND AMENDMENT REQUIRED) 1.1 Classifications The following classifications in this Part shall apply to Employees engaged in West Australia This Agreement provides for seven main classifications than span 9 grade levels as outlined in clause These main classifications are: Trades assistant / general hand / labourer Line Constructor Rigger Line Worker (Transmission and Distribution) Electrical fitter / Electrician Power Technician / Tester Communications Technicians A guideline to the grades as a minimum is as follows: 1 Traffic Control Basic Labourer Adult Apprentice 2 N/A 3 Trades Assistant Plant Operator Basic Rigger 4 Experienced Trades Assistant Crane Operator Intermediate Dogman / Rigger 5 Non Cert 3 Linesperson or one enrolled in a Certificate III program Advanced Rigger Live Crane Operator LV Jointer 6 Certificate III Qualified Linesperson Qualified Switching Operator * 2 Electrician LV/HV Jointer 7 Glove & Barrier Linesperson Dual Traded Linesperson LV Live Jointer/HV Jointer
2 8 Advanced Switching Operator * 3 9 Specialist Switching Operator * 4 & * 5 Glove & Barrier Linesperson - Mentor * 2 Switching Operator - LV Overhead & Underground (Level 1 & 4) * 3 Switching Operator - HV Overhead (Level 1, 2, 4) * 4 Switching Operator - HV/LV Overhead & Underground (Level 1-5) * 5 Switching Operator Substations (Level 6) 1.2 Classifications The following wage rates shall apply to Employees engaged in West Australia: Grade Date of Lodgement First full pay period in July 2012 First full pay period in July $ $30.62 $ Non Trade 2 $ $32.07 $ $ $33.50 $ $ $36.59 $ $ $36.96 $ Qualified 6 $ $39.55 $ $ $42.29 $ Advanced 8 $ $44.98 $ Specialist 9 $ $47.68 $ If an Employee is employed as a tradesperson and can provide documentary evidence of at least 12 months experience as an electrical/instrument tradesperson in the maintenance/construction of switchyards and substations in the power industry the Employee will be classified at Grade 6 as a minimum.
3 2 Allowances 2.1 Glove and Barrier Allowance Employees required by the Employer to perform glove and barrier work shall be paid a flat allowance of $32.00 per day for any time spent on glove and barrier work. 2.2 LV Jointer Employees required by the Employer to perform LV Jointing work shall be paid a flat allowance of $32.00 per day for any time spent on live jointing barrier work. 2.3 Live Line Crane Operation Employees required by the Employer to use live line techniques in the performance of crane operation work shall be paid a flat allowance of $32.00 per day. 2.4 Availability for Duty Availability for duty shall mean that the Employee concerned shall be available for duty outside normal hours and the following payments shall apply: (a) (b) (c) The Employee shall be paid a flat daily amount as follows: (i) (ii) Monday to Friday - $55.00 per day Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays - $ per day A minimum payment of three (3) hours at the appropriate overtime rate shall be paid for each call out attended by the Employee on availability roster. Where an additional after hours call is issued while the Employee is on duty within a previous 3 hour minimum all out period Employees concerned are to be paid as actual time at the appropriate rate for the time worked in excess of the original 3 hour period The Employer will determine the level of availability duty required at any time to meet business needs and the Parties acknowledge that this will change from time to time The specific format and rotation of any such availability roster will be determined at a local level between the Manager/Supervisor and Employees. Employees will have flexibility in scheduling availability duty and managing changes provided that the minimum levels set by the Employer are met at all times AnEmployer vehicle shall be provided to Employees undertaking availability duty.
4 3 Protective Clothing, Income Insurance and Site Allowance 3.1 General Protective clothing and equipment appropriate to the work conditions will be provided in accordance with the Employer s policy and the Occupational Health and Safety Act. Employees will be instructed in the proper use of protective equipment Any such provided protective clothing or equipment will be maintained by the Employee and replaced by the Employer on a fair wear and tear basis The Employer provides a range of protective clothing and equipment (e.g. wet weather gear) that will assist Employees to continue work in relative comfort and safety according to the situation. Where provided such clothing is to be work so as to minimise work disruption. 3.2 Income Insurance As a part of the employees remuneration package a policy of income protection will be provided for employees covered by this Agreement. The parties agree to utilise the PROTECT scheme From the commencement of this Agreement the Income Protection Policy implemented by the Company via the Protect scheme provides the following: (a) (b) (c) (d) (e) (f) Cover for 100% of an eligible employee's average income or $1,200 whichever is less for 104 weeks applying to non- work related or personal injury or sickness. The employees shall be covered for workers compensation top- up; An excess (waiting) period of 7 days applying to personal injury or sickness; (except Sporting injuries 28 days); The general insurance code of practice applies including operation of a claims review panel run by Insurance Enquirer's and Complaints Ltd; Rehabilitation assistance unlimited to 104 weeks overall limit; That if an eligible employee covered by this Agreement suffers death as a result of an accident, the expenses of burial or cremation or the cost of returning the Insured Person's body or ashes to their home town will be paid up to a maximum limit of $10,000; and Coverage that will provide up to $5,000 for emergency transport for eligible employees to seek medical treatment following an accident. 3.3 Site Allowance Construction means work on a site or in connection with: The construction of a large industrial undertaking or any large civil engineering project; The construction of an multi storey building; or The construction, erection, alteration or major refurbishment of any other building, structure or engineering project which the Company and the Union agree, in the event of any disagreement, that which Fair Work Australia deems to be construction work for the purposes of this Agreement Commercial Sector of the Building and Electrical Contracting Industry means the wiring, repair and installation of electrical work on buildings and amenities used for commercial purposes including office buildings, hospitals, prisons, schools, shops and facilities associated with those developments (including car parks and infrastructure) for which commercial standards of electrical work are applied. It does not include the Industrial Sector.
5 3.3.3 A flat Site allowance of $4.00 per hour for all large construction projects only where the total construction contract worth is valued at $8,000,000 or more as reported at the tender stage of the Cordell Management Summary report A flat Site allowance of $2.00 per hour for service, jobbing and fitout works and small construction works where the total contract worth is valued at under $8,000,000 as reported at the tender stage of the Cordell Management Summary report.
