Early Childhood and Family Education (ECFE): weekly classes for babies, toddlers and preschoolers. Parent Education: A way to connect with other parents while learning new parenting strategies. Early Childhood Staff Eden Prairie Schools What are Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) classes? You are your child s first and most important teacher. ECFE classes help you be the best parent you can be. ECFE classes are designed for you and your child, birth through preschool age. Classes include: Parent-Child Activity: Time for you and your child to learn and play together, with songs, stories and developmentally appropriate activities you can do at home. Parent Discussion: Spend time with other parents discussing the joys and challenges of parenting while learning effective, research-based parenting strategies. A licensed parent educator will guide the discussion and share information about child development and kindergarten readiness. Children s Learning Time: In classes where children and parents separate for the parent discussion, children will stay with licensed early childhood teachers. Children will learn social-emotional skills while playing and learning with other children. Sibling Care Available for All ECFE Classes Siblings of children who are enrolled in ECFE classes can enjoy a happy play time of their own! Babies through 5 year olds grow by leaps and bounds in our child centered sibling classrooms. Our experienced baby staff provides a safe, secure environment for babies that includes: - Gentle, loving care. - Sleeping room for napping. - Feeding and diapering per parent request. For older children, staff provide a flexible, fun learning environment which includes a theme-based curriculum explored through games, songs, art activities and child-directed play. 5 Terrific Twos Two year olds use experimentation to help interpret their world. Join a Terrific Twos class and watch your child explore every learning opportunity with curiosity and passion. Children will practice social skills such as taking turns, listening to the teacher and following in line while experiencing a fun and loving classroom environment. Parenting topics include tantrums, toilet training and how to set limits with love. Family Fun Time Turning Three A Class for Me! Beginning in January 2015, children currently enrolled in a Terrific Twos class will have the opportunity to add a drop-off preschool day in addition to the weekly parent/child day. This class is a great way to ease into the world of preschool! Dates and times to be determined in the fall. Family Fun Time is a great opportunity for you and your children, ages birth to 5, to run off some energy in the gym then continue the fun with special songs and creative play in the classroom. 6 Thriving Threes and Fantastic Fours Your child must be three or four by September 1, 2014 Three and four year olds are excited to explore the world and meet new friends! The preschool years are full of discovery, but can also be a parenting challenge. Enroll in an ECFE class with your three or four year old to learn new parenting strategies. In ECFE classes for threes and fours, children and parents separate after engaging parent-child activities. Parent discussions focus on the joys and challenges of raising a preschooler. You will learn: The latest research about child development. Successful and effective parenting strategies. Ways to help your child be successful in preschool. Tips to help your child make friends, share and understand their feelings. How to foster kindergarten readiness at home. Many parent topics are selected by the class, so you can focus on what you want to learn! Your child will build positive self-esteem, confidence and independence while they are in the classroom with a licensed early childhood teacher skilled in creating developmentally appropriate learning activities. Half-day preschool for both three and four year olds! Our full-day and half-day preschools allow you to expand and enrich your child s preschool experience. Space is limited, register soon! Classes: Are taught by warm, loving and highly qualified teachers who have been trained in social-emotional development and kindergarten readiness. All teachers have a BA, BS or MA degree. Deliver a curriculum rich in math, reading, science and art geared for kindergarten success. Are aligned with Eden Prairie s K-12 curriculum to assure a smooth transition to kindergarten. Integrate technology into the classroom. Classes use SMART boards, ipads and sound field systems proven to accelerate learning. Include playground and gym time that offer both free play and teacher-directed activities. Provide special events and field trips. Include parent/teacher conferences. Do not require that students are toilet trained. Offer curbside drop-off. Locations All Plus Parent Education classes will be located at the Education Center. 8 Partners Partners provides an innovative classroom where creativity and imagination soar! Our diverse classrooms help students discover a love for learning in an interactive, stimulating and academically rigorous environment. Spanish Our engaging Spanish gives your child an introduction to the Spanish language in a fun and engaging environment. Your child will be introduced to key curriculum concepts such as literacy, math and science in both Spanish and English. Plus Parent Education An amazing preschool adventure where families come for their child and stay for themselves! These classes offer time for parents and their preschooler to explore learning together. Drop off your child at preschool and come to a parenting class once a month just for you! You will meet with the same parents once a month for two hours. Register for a full year of monthly parent education classes for the low one-time fee of $60! 9 New! Half-Day and Full-Day! Our half-day and full-day preschool programs give your child the opportunity to expand and extend their learning. The increased time allows highly qualified and skilled staff to provide additional enriching activities and individualized instruction. Half-day preschool allows you to extend either your child s morning preschool session or his or her afternoon preschool session. Half-day preschool is available for both three and four year olds with multiple classes to choose from. This choice is designed for the child who is ready for more learning opportunities! Full-day preschool is available for four year olds who attend Monday through Friday. This is a perfect choice for working families, or families who would like a full-time preschool experience for their child! Note: When preschool is not in session, care will continue to be provided for the full-day preschool students on most days during the school year. You will have the flexibility to register and be billed separately for these days. The purpose is to check all areas of a child s development, including hearing, vision, speech and motor abilities as a way to support children in their early years of growth and development. 13 Registration How do I Register? Congratulations! You are enrolling your child in one of Minnesota s leading early childhood programs. You and your child are taking the next step on your path of learning and development. Eden Prairie Schools is here to support you and your child each step of the way. To help us and the Minnesota Department of Education analyze and plan future programs, we are requesting information about your family that is similar to the information gathered for students enrolling in kindergarten through 12th grade. All information will always be handled and protected by state and federal education data privacy laws. No individual identifying information will be used. The goal is to use this information to evaluate the effectiveness of programs to ensure students achieve ongoing school and lifelong success. How do I register? 1. Register online at: earlychildhood.edenpr.org. Click on the Click Here to Register button above Quick Links. 2. You can also mail, drop-off, or fax (credit card only) your registration form and non-refundable registration fee. Complete one registration form for each child. Registration is required to ensure we have high quality staffing ratios. Children under 3 months are welcome to attend class with their parent. When do classes begin? Classes meet from September through May. Families are welcome to register for classes anytime through the school year. How do I pay for my ECFE class? 1. Check the Sliding Fee Scale for your payment amount. 2. Payments can be made by cash, check or credit card (Discover, MasterCard or VISA only). 3. ECFE has a non-refundable registration fee of $35 due at time of registration. 4. ECFE class fees will be due in 2 installments on August 1st and February 1st. How do I pay for my preschool class? 1. class fees will be paid in 9 monthly installments due on the first of every month, August April. 2. Payments can be made by cash, check or credit card (Discover, MasterCard or VISA only). 3. classes have a non-refundable registration fee of $ With the exception of evening preschool, all preschool classes will be charged a non refundable field trip/special event fee of $70 split into two $35 payments due in October and February.
