2. Introduction to Real Time Media Monitoring Real Time Media Monitoring service (hereinafter: Web service or service) is a tool providing Real Time Clipping s clients with a review of print and electronic clipping, advertisements and commercials, and daily bulletins. This service enables: Quick and simple search through daily clipping and the overall clipping archive; the search is based on several parameters of choice: key word, time period, media, topic, report author Establishment of a pdf database, consisting of show transcripts (from electronic clipping) or scanned articles (from print clipping) My Clipping option, i.e. a selection of specific articles or shows of importance Basic analyses of rated reports in a previous month, based on defined parameters. 3
3. How to Use Real Time Media Monitoring Service The Login page consists of two fields to be filled in: Username and Password. By clicking at the Login button, validity of typed-in data is checked. After the check, the system allows us to enter the Homepage or warns that some typed-in data are incorrect. Note: Adding the Homepage address to your list of Favorites will make access to this service easier. Provided the data check is successful, the next page you enter is the Homepage. 4
4. Homepage The Homepage features latest five reports from print and electronic (TV and radio) media, Web reports, Daily Report, and a review of daily bulletins issues. Details on the information at this page are provided below. 5
At the top of the page, you will find the menu with a set of options. By clicking any of the options, we browse the system pages and use all of its advantages. The menu is present at all system pages. The menu options are as follows: Home leading directly to the Homepage Press clipping page featuring daily reports from print media and archive search TV monitoring page featuring daily reports from TV and radio stations and archive search Web monitoring page featuring daily reports from Web media and archive search Analysis page for conducting basic analyses of rated reports in a previous month, based on selected parameters Bulletins page featuring daily issues of bulletins specialised in different areas Logout leading directly back to the Login page. The language switch option, provided we are subscribed to the reports translation service, and the name of the logged-in client are given below these options. Note: If we are not subscribed to any of the services, such an option will not appear in the menu and at the Homepage. 6
5. Press clipping The Homepage features latest five reports from print media, with a date of report, topic, name of media, and a report page. By clicking at a report, a pdf of that report opens. By selecting the More Details option, you go the page featuring all daily reports from print media - articles - and archive search. 7
In addition to the articles review, this page features advertisements from print media, provided we are subscribed to that service, and the My Clipping selection of specific articles and/or advertisements of significance. Clipping list includes the following information: Article/advertisement date Article/advertisement title Media where it is published Print media section Article author Topics identified in the article/advertisement In addition to the title, each print clipping contains images. By clicking the first image, an original scanned article/advertisement opens. Depending on the article length, a volume of scanned data bases varies. By clicking the second image, a pdf comprising all scanned databases for a selected article/advertisement opens. The pdf format of an article is more convenient both for printing and saving. In addition to the date, the image significance to My Clipping. enables us to select and add an article/advertisement of In the advertisements section, we can see the image advertisement is new, i.e. that it appears for the first time. next to the date. It informs us that the Arrows located next to the column titles,, enable sorting of a presented clipping list. For instance, in the Title column, clicking the first arrow sorts the clipping list per title, in alphabetic order (from A to Ž); clicking the second arrow will reverse the sorting order. 8
Clipping search can be executed based on several parameters we enter in corresponding fields: Title we enter part of an article/advertisement title Author name of an article author List of all print media we select media of interest from the list. If no media is selected, all media are searched Column list by selecting specific media, this list features a range of columns. As a result we can focus our search on a specific column of the selected media. If no section is selected, all of them are searched Topic list by selecting a topic of interest, we narrow down our search to one specific topic. If no topic is selected, all of them are searched Date, from and until we select a period of clipping of interest By clicking the Find button, the service searches the archive and presents results based on parameters we have selected. After the search is executed, the service presents a clipping list from print media as a result of the search. If there are more than 10 media, the service will divide them on several pages, reached by a simple click at the navigation menu. The Items per page option enables us to define a number of reports presented per page. The next set of numbers shows a range of clipping we are currently viewing (from 1 to 10, in the illustration above) and the total volume of clipping reports (13 in the illustration above). The last set of numbers includes links to other pages from a range, where the current page is marked.. 9
Press clipping processing Lists at the bottom of the page contain the following processing menu: At the beginning of each row, there is a field we can mark. The following options make clipping selection easier: Click to Select all selects all reports from the list; Click to Undo selection annuls the current clipping selection; Click to Reverse selection reverses the current selection by annulling marked reports and selecting unmarked ones By selecting several clippings, as described, and clicking some of the three buttons in the next row, we define a specific action we wish the service to perform. By clicking the first button, Add to my clipping, the service compiles selected clippings to the My clipping collection. (We can do this for individual reports with a left-click to the image, located next to the date of each report). All clippings in this group have the icon next to the date. It enables us to include or exclude individual clipping in or from the My clipping collection. By clicking the Print the list button, a separate service window opens, where the list is present in a printing-friendly manner. By clicking the make bulk PDF, selected clippings are compiled and a unique pdf, comprising all selected reports, is created. 10
6. TV monitoring The Homepage lists latest five reports from electronic media - TV and radio stations with a date of report, title of a show, topic, name of media, and time of report. By clicking at the name of a show where a report is publicised, a pdf with a transcript of that report opens, while a click at the image or launches a video clip, i.e. an mp3 audio clip of that report. By selecting the More details option a page presenting all daily reports from electronic media TV and radio stations and archive search opens. 11
In addition to a review of reports from electronic media, we can, provided we are subscribed to this service, review commercials based on predefined topics broadcast at specific TV stations, as well as My clipping and My commercials, which are groups of selected reports, i.e. commercials, selected based on their significance. Note; To watch video clips, it is necessary to install free Adobe Flash 10 Plugin for our Internet browser. List of reports from electronic media contains the following information: Date of report Name of a show Media, i.e. TV or radio station where it is broadcast Report author Topics identified in the report Each report has the images or and the image next to the title. A click to the first image opens a flash video clip, and a click to the second one an mp3 audio clip of the report. There can be several clips for a specific report. A click to the pdf image opens a pdf with a transcript of the selected report. If the pdf image does not appear, it means that the transcript is not provided. The image next to the date enables us to select a specific report or commercial of significance and add it to My clipping or My commercials. Arrows next to the column titles, enable us to sort the presented clipping list. List of commercials contains the following information: Name of a commercial Date of monitoring the commercial Commercial duration Total number of the commercial broadcasts for that day Total number of media which broadcast the commercial Commercial description Commercial topics 12
Similarly to advertisements, we can see the image next to the commercial title. It signifies that a commercial is new, i.e. that it has appeared for the first time. The image after a commercial description enables us to watch a flash video clip of the commercial, while the image opens a detailed report on the commercial broadcast, with broadcast time per media and show. Reports search can be based on several parameters, types in specific fields: Author name of the author of a TV/radio report List of all electronic media in this list, we select one media of interest. If no media is selected, all the media are searched List of shows by selecting the specific media, this list comprises a set of shows, so we can narrow down our search both to the specific media and the specific show. If no show is selected, all of them are searched List of topics by selecting a topic of interest, we focus our search on only one topic of interest. If no topic is selected, all of them are searched Date, from and until here we select a period which covers targeted clipping 13
By clicking the Find button, the service searches through the archive and presents results, based on predefined parameters. After the search is executed, the service presents a clipping list from electronic media as a result of the search. If there are more than 10 media, the service will divide them on several pages, reached by a simple click at the navigation menu. Commercials search is executed upon parameters similar to those for reports search. The difference is in additional two parameters: Name we enter the name or part of the name of a commercial Commercials we select one of ongoing commercials. i.e. commercials broadcast at TV stations. This list can be expanded with commercials which are no longer broadcast by clicking the image. Reports and commercials processing is similar to press clipping processing. 14
7. Web monitoring The Homepage features five latest reports from Web media, with a date of report, title, topic, name of media, i.e. Website where the report is posted. A click at a report opens a pdf of that report. By selecting the More details option, a page presenting all daily reports from Web media and archive search opens. In addition to a review of Web reports, this page includes the My clipping option, a group of Web reports selected based on their significance. 15
Clipping list contains the following information: Date when a Web report is published Web report title Media, i.e. Website where it is posted Web media section Web report author Topic identified in the report Web clipping has the image and/or the image next to the title. If there is only the pdf image, a click to the first image opens a pdf with a transcript of that report. The second image represents a print screen of the Web report, and if it is visible next to the pdf image, then the pdf contains the pdf print screen in addition to the transcript. Depending on the Web report length, there can be several print screen databases. The image next to the date enables us to select a specific Web report of significance and add it to My clipping. Arrows next to the column titles, enable us to sort the presented clipping list. Reports and commercials processing is identical to press clipping processing. 16
8. Analysis The Homepage presents a Daily Report, including basic results of a daily reports analysis. By selecting the More details option, we go to the Analyses page a page where, provided we are subscribed to that service, we can conduct basic analyses of rated reports in a previous month, up to seven consecutive days, based on predefined parameters. 17
We can select parameters for the analysis from the following menus: Company per topic: My topics Competition Both comparative review Review per type of report, with the following options: Reports Advertisements/commercials Category: Topic Media Number of reports In % Commercial values Type of media print, TV/radio, Web or all media Date we select any time period, up to seven days, for a previous month Results can be presented in various forms: Graphic Chart Pie chart in case we selected the In % category After the selection of specific parameters, by clicking the image we get analysis results at the same page and in a form we selected, after a certain period of time required for processing. 18
