Peña at or npena@bloodbank.org. This year the Chargers Blood Drive has a new time, 10am-6pm. SDBB currently has over 14% fewer collection staff than we had just two years ago. Unfortunately that reduces the number of hours that we are able to draw blood at the Chargers Drive. We want to provide the donors an experience that they will remember and avoid having overly-tired staff drawing their blood. Volunteers are needed for a variety of assignments throughout the day. There are two shifts available, select a time and come join the fun! Tuesday, November 30, 10am 6pm Town & Country Convention Center, Mission Valley Shifts: 10:00am 2:30pm 2:00 6:30pm Happy Birthday! 4 In Memorandum It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to long time blood donor and volunteer, Richard Julian. Richard passed away on August 30 th. He began volunteering with SDBB in 2002 working as a regular canteen host at the donor center on Upas Street, and at blood drives and special events.. In addition to his volunteer work, Richard was a long time blood donor, donating more than 57 gallons throughout his lifetime. Fellow long-time volunteer Larry Jarmon recalls, Richard was a terrific worker and wonderful volunteer with a pleasant personality. He always had something nice to say. He and I were one of the first community donors back in the late 70 s and we received our 10 gallon hats together. A blood drive in honor of Richard is scheduled for Sunday, October 24, from 8am to 1pm at Pacific Christian Church at 1074 Loring Street in Pacific Beach. Bloodmobile Schedule October 2010 Blood drives are subject to change. If you would like to volunteer at a bloodmobile, please contact Noemí R. Peña at or npena@sandiegobloodbank.org. NOTE: Listed blood drives with an asterisk (*) are usually busy drives and could really use volunteers. Mobiles that are listed bold and in italics have a volunteer scheduled, however you can still sign up for that drive if two volunteers are needed. Cardiff Saturday, October 9, 2010 V.G.
