School of Security Global Studies NSEC 614 The Political Psychology of Terror Groups 3 Credit Hours 8 Weeks Instructor Information Instructor: APUS Faculty Course Description (Catalog) This course focuses on analyzing terror from a psychological perspective. In particular course approaches terror from two different psychological perspectives, individual group processes. Toger se two perspectives provide a solid from which to underst terror. Course materials access to an online learning management system will be made available to each student. NATO Science for Peace Organizational Security, Organizational Psychological Aspects of Terrorism (this is an ebook found in APUS library) There are also or required readings. The instructor will post information in classroom on student procedures.

3 Evaluation Procedures The course grade is based on following assessments: Forums 40 percent questions related to course readings will be provided posts should reflect an assimilation of readings respond to assigned topic(s). Students are required to provide a substantive initial post by Thursday at 11:55 pm ET respond to two or more classmates s initial posts by Sunday 11:55 pm ET. Forum posts are graded on timeliness, relevance, knowledge of weekly readings, quality of original ideas. To demonstrate knowledge of readings, students must use citations in parentical reference format a reference list in initial post in two additional required responses to classmates initial posts. A minimum of two to three sources in initial posts one to two in subsequent required posts should be goal. questions related to student research papers will be required in various weeks throughout course to facilitate discussion with classmates. Posts should incorporate substantive comments feedback on classmates work. No source citations are required. Students should respond to at least two classmates initial posts. Research Question, Purpose Statement, Citation Format Exercise 15 percent The components of this assignment include a research question, a purpose design statement, a reference list. It must contain at least 8 sources, at least 6 of which must be peer-reviewed. The specific research question should relate to a topic covered in course. Length: 8 pp. Literature Review 15 percent This document contains an annotated summary of major sources that will be used in research paper, all of which must be peer-reviewed articles or scholarly texts. Students will identify source, offer a short synopsis of its main argument, offer a statement of relevance to research project. Length: 8 pp. Final Paper 30 percent This is final paper assignment of course. It must contain citations in formal style as well as a reference list. Length: 15 pp.

Refer to Kate Turabian, A Manual for Writers of Research Papers, Theses, Dissertations, 7 th ed. Chicago: University of Chicago Press found at All written submissions should be submitted in Times New Roman 12 pt font with 1 margins, typewritten in double-spaced format. Graduate-level work is expected to be free of grammar, usage, style errors. It is very important that students are aware of comply with APUS policy on plagiarism in Student Hbook. To find plagiarism policy, go to vertical toolbar in classroom click Policy. Late Assignments Students are expected to submit classroom assignments by posted due date to complete course according to published class schedule. The stard for School of Security Global Studies for late assignments is a penalty of five percent per day. Course Extension Policy To apply for an extension, go to vertical toolbar click Policy. The student must have successfully completed at least 50 percent of already-assigned coursework. The student shall have an overall passing grade in course for which an extension is being requested. For this course, 50 percent mark occurs in Week Six after submission of Research Paper.
