GENERAL FEATURES - APPLICATIONS The BEST πππ modem transforms your computer into an answering machine, voice mail system, fax server, while keeping all the standard data transfer functions, for which modems are known until today. The modem also includes a Voice/Fax/Data communication program, for Windows environment, that is used for implementing all the above applications. 3. INSTALLING CRYPTO BEST III 56K PCI ON WINDOWS XP Follow these steps: Right click on My Computer and select Properties > Hardware > Device Manager. In the modems category, your modem is already installed as: Generic SoftK56. Right click on the modem and select Update Driver. In the next window choose: Install from a list or specific location and press Next. 2

11 Select: Don t search, I ll choose the driver to install and press Next. Select Have Disk Select Browse Select the Best III PCI \ DRIVER \ BEST_III_56PCI \ WinXP directory from the CD and press Open Press OK 3

12 Press Next Press: Continue Anyway After the file transfer is complete, press Finish To verify proper installation of the modem, check to see Crypto Best IIπ 56K PCI Modem in the Device Manager. The installation is complete and the modem is ready to connect to the Internet. 4

13 4. INSTALLING CRYPTO BEST III 56K PCI ON WINDOWS VISTA If the CD Driver does not open automatically, go to My Computer and open the CD manually. Select Vista Driver and double-click Vista 32 or Vista 64 based on your PC s OS. Follow these steps: Select Crypto Best III 56K PCI modem. Press OK. After a few seconds when the installation is completed, press OK. To verify proper installation of the modem, check to see Crypto Best III 56K PCI Modem in the Device Manager. The installation for Vista is complete and the modem is ready to connect to the Internet. 5

14 5. E SOFTWARE FAX / VOICE / DATA ( Fax Talk ) The Best πππ 56 PCI modem comes with a CD that contains the Fax Talk Software. Before installing Fax Talk make sure that the modem is installed in your computer. 1. Insert the CD in the computer s drive and select <click HERE to install software utilities> from the window that will appear. Select <Fax Talk Communicator> to start the installation procedure. If autorun is disabled in your computer, go to Start, select run, type < :\software\faxtalk\setup> and press. During the installation, select the following: 1. ENGLISH, <Next>, <Yes>, fill in the fields <name>,<company> and set the directory you wish to install the Fax Talk in. 2. Select <next> to start copying files. 3. The modem will be detected and the Fax Talk will provide the modem type (The modem is Crypto Best IπI 56K PCI modem ). Select <Next> and select <Next> again. In the next screen, choose the way you want your modem to reply to incoming calls or incoming fax transmissions (e.g. auto reply) and press <next>. In the next screen, fill in your fax number and the name you want to appear on your fax transmission and press <next>. The installation procedure continues. 4. Finally, the Fax Talk will ask you to restart your system in order to finalise the installation procedure. 5. After restarting, go to Start / Programs / Fax Talk communicator/ Fax Talk communicator to launch the software. 6

15 6. SENDING A FAX 1. To send a simple fax message using Fax Talk, choose send a fax, complete the recipients information and press <next>. Choose <I want to send a Cover Sheet> and you can write your message in the memo field and press <next>. Press <next> again and select <send this fax immediately>. Press <finish> to start the fax transmission. 2. To send text from a file or Windows application e.g. Word, choose File / Print and set Fax Talk Communicator to be the default printer. Press and the send fax window will appear. Then follow the procedure described above. For more details on how to use Fax Talk please refer to the software s Help feature. 7
