Families report that managed care is helpful to families in two ways: they have predictable monthly expenses and coverage for both preventive and well-child care. Access to appropriate therapies, particularly habilitative services, continues to be a problem with managed care, however. In addition, children routinely "fall through the cracks" due to lack of coordination, collaboration or cooperative agreements among multiple programs with a responsibility for CSHCN.
