I (Federl Lw Gzette) No. 81/2009 nd 32 Section "Regultions of Study Lw", repulished in the University of Innsruck Bulletin of 3 Ferury 2006, Issue 16, No. 90, most recently mended y the University of Innsruck Bulletin of 2 Septemer 2009, Issue 111, No. 419, the following is decreed: Curriculum for the Mster Progrm in Business Eduction t the University of Innsruck School of Mngement 1 Qulifiction profile nd progrm ojectives (1) The Mster Progrm in Business Eduction forms prt of the group of studies in the socil nd economic sciences. (2) The Mster Progrm in Business Eduction ims t intensive creer preprtion in the socil nd economic sciences nd qulifies students for creers which require the ppliction of wellfounded, scientific knowledge nd methods. As scientific progrm, it essentilly covers theories, methods nd instruments of usiness eduction. Findings from the field of gender reserch re lso tken into considertion. (3) In ddition to suject-specific competences, the Mster Progrm in Business Eduction lso promotes generl socil nd personl skills. Among others, these include communiction, conflict-solving, coopertion, ledership, presenttion, nd reflection skills. (4) The ojective of the Mster Progrm is to develop dvnced nlyticl nd prolem-solving competences vlule in science nd prctice, which re well-grounded in science nd supported y theories nd methods. This competence should enle students, to elorte reserch questions independently, to reflect on scientific knowledge nd pply it to new, especilly reserch-relevnt contexts, s well s to pursue PhD progrms; to cope with pertinent responsiilities in their professionl creers outside the university in scientificlly sound nd prcticlly relevnt mnner. Aove nd eyond the field of Business Eduction, grdutes of the Mster Progrm re qulified to pursue creers in vriety of occuptionl fields; to reflect intensively on the ethicl nd socil consequences nd dimensions when pplying their knowledge. (5) In prticulr, the Mster Progrm in Business Eduction prepres students for teching usiness nd economic sujects t voctionl schools nd/or colleges nd mngeril, plnning, nlyticl, reserch nd consulting responsiilities, requiring comintion of usiness-relted nd pedgogicl qulifictions nd pursuing PhD progrm. 1

2 2 Admission requirements (1) Admission to the Mster Progrm in Business Eduction requires themticlly relevnt chelor progrm completed t university or university of pplied science or other, equivlent studies completed t n cknowledged Austrin or non-austrin post-secondry eductionl institution. In cses where only minor requirements re missing, the Rector's office my require pplicnts to tke dditionl exms during the Mster Progrm in Business Eduction to hve their degrees cknowledged s equivlent to the requirements stted ove. (2) Themticlly relevnt studies include the Bchelor Progrm in Mngement nd Economics completed t the University of Innsruck. 3 Durtion of the progrm (1) The Mster Progrm in Business Eduction equls 150 (); this corresponds to progrm durtion of five semesters. (2) The Progrm is orgnized in courses. 4 Courses (1) A course constitutes themtic unit nd normlly comprises five semester hours ("") or ten or three semester hours (""), i.e. five. The courses referred to in 7 (2-7 nd 2-8) re exceptions. (2) All courses consist of two course units; t lest one of them is course unit with continuing performnce ssessment, with the following exceptions: 1. the mndtory course referred to in 7 (2-7); 2. the mndtory course referred to in 7 (2-8); 3. the courses referred to in 8 (2) re orgnized y other mster progrms nd must e completed ccording to the respective curricul. (3) The curriculum comprises mndtory nd elective courses. 5 Types of course units nd numer of prticipnts (1) Lectures (VO) re scientific presenttions tht provide n introduction to suject mtter or cover, discuss nd explin reserch topics, questions, nd methods nd introduce new reserch findings. (2) Course units with continuing performnce ssessment re: 1. Proseminrs (PS): Proseminrs cover the fundmentls of scientific methods, give n introduction to the literture nd stte of the rt in the field, nd focus on selected issues from the field. The mximum numer of prticipnts is Seminrs (SE): Seminrs focus on detiled scientific discussions. Prticipnts re expected to mke orl nd/or written contriutions. The mximum numer of prticipnts is Tutorils (UE): In tutorils, students cquire ppliction-oriented competences nd work on prcticl cses. The mximum numer of prticipnts is Procedure for the dmission to course units with limited numer of prticipnts 2

3 In course units with mximum numer of prticipnts, plces re llocted sed on the following procedure: 1. At the eginning of the registrtion period for course units of given semester, ech student receives 1,000 points twice. At the end of the registrtion period for certin semester, unused points expire. 2. Students use s mny points s they wnt from the first ccount of 1,000 points to id for course units which they wnt to enroll in; this wy, they express their course preferences for the 1 st enrolment round. 3. Students use s mny points s they wnt from the second ccount of 1,000 points to id for course units which they wnt to enroll in; this wy, they express their course preferences for the 2 nd enrolment round. 4. Depending on how mny points from the first ccount re used to id for certin course units, students receive up to 30, provided they fulfill the dmission requirements. 5. Depending on how mny points from the second ccount re used to id for certin course units, students receive courses which hve not een llocted ccording to Points 2 nd 4 ove. Agin, students hve to fulfill the respective dmission requirements. 6. The totl numer of course units ssigned ccording to Points 1-5 ove my not exceed the numer of course units necessry in given semester (30 ). 7. A lottery system is used to llocte course units still ville fter the course lloction descried in points 1-5 ove to those students who hve received fewer course units thn necessry in given semester (30 ). 8. Admission requirements: positive completion of the mndtory courses referred to in 7 (2-1, 2-2 nd 2-3) 7 Mndtory Course: Support Course for Teching Prctice SE Support Course for Teching Prctice Discussion nd coching regrding relevnt questions emerging in the course of the teching prctice; specil focus on gender spects 2 5 Totl 2 5 Students complete period of teching prctice in school, reflect on this experience, nd develop their own pedgogicl professionlism. Admission requirements: positive completion of the mndtory courses referred to in 7 (2-1, 2-2, 2-3, 2-5 nd 2-6); registrtion for the teching prctice referred to in 10 8 Mndtory Course: Support Course for Mster Thesis SE Support Course for Mster Thesis The seminr supports the process of creting the mster thesis. Students present their thesis, discuss prticulr issues in detil, nd intensively reflect on theoreticl spects s well s reserch designs..5 Totl.5 On completion, students hve the competence to design nd crry out scientific study nd to present their reserch results in different contexts. PS Designing E-sed Teching/Lerning Units Theory-sed development of trget-group-specific e-lerning scenrios Totl 3 5 Students reflect on theories of medi didctics nd develop didctic competences to select, design, nd implement e-sed teching/lerning units. 5 Elective Course: Humn Reltions Mngement (I): Interculturl Humn Resource Development VO Interculturl Humn Resource Development In-compny eduction, creer development nd work structuring, with view to interculturl spects PS Interculturl Humn Resource Development Development of teching/lerning rrngements for developing interculturl competences Totl 3 5 Students cquire well-founded knowledge regrding specific tsks of humn resource development in glolized economy. They develop the competence to design interculturl teching/lerning rrngements nd ssess their qulity. 6 Elective Course: Humn Reltions Mngement (II): Employmentoriented Counseling VO Employment-oriented Counseling The lecture covers concepts of creer counseling with specil focus on gender spects. PS Employment-oriented Counseling Designing nd reflecting on counseling scenrios Totl 3 5 Students reflect on different concepts of creer counseling nd develop competences to cope with concrete counseling situtions in the light of their reflections. 9

10 7 Elective Course: Humn Reltions Mngement (III): Fcilitting, Counseling nd Coching Lerning Groups VO Understnding Group Processes Presenttion nd discussion of group dynmics tht cn mnifest themselves in work nd lerning groups SE Modertion Students fcilitte lerning groups nd criticlly reflect on their own efforts Totl 3 5 Students develop the competence to independently fcilitte, support, nd counsel lerning groups. Additionlly, they cquire sic insights into group dynmics. (4) Elective courses referred to in 8 (2) Elective Course: Courses from other Mster Progrms of the University of Innsruck School of Mngement Students cn choose nd complete 10--credit course from other mster progrms orgnized y the University of Innsruck School of Mngement. Totl 10 The lerning ojectives of the respective courses give the student insight into other sujects. Admission requirements: defined y the respective curriculum 10 Teching prctice (1) Students of the Mster Progrm need to complete period of school teching prctice, which comprises 12 weeks (25 ) nd the "Support Course" t the University (5 ) - 7 (2-7), i.e. 30 in totl. (2) In principle, the teching prctice should e completed during the winter semester. In justified, exceptionl cses, the Den of Studies cn grnt n exception to this rule, provided tht the responsile Provincil School Administrtion grees. The teching prctice is orgnized in complince with the pplicle ministeril decree. (3) Admission to the teching prctice requires the positive completion of the following courses: "Orienttion Course Business Eduction", "Introduction to the Theories of Socioeconomic Eduction ", "Teching nd Lerning s Creer", "Didctics of Business Eduction (I)" und "Didctics of Business Eduction (II)". 11 Mster thesis (1) In the Mster Progrm in Business Eduction, mster thesis must e written. The topic of the thesis must e relted to the re of usiness eduction, i.e. to sujects covered y one or more of the mndtory courses referred to in 7 (1 nd 2) or y the elective courses referred to in 8 (1). 10

11 (2) The mster thesis is scientific piece of work. (3) By creting the mster thesis, students must demonstrte tht they re le independently nd in limited period of time - to pply the theoreticl nd methodicl instruments of the Mster Progrm to prticulr reserch question nd to reflect on them. (4) Students hve the right to propose the topic of the mster thesis or to choose from numer of proposls. (5) The mster thesis is equivlent to work lod of (6) The topic nd the supervisor of the mster thesis my only e sumitted on positive completion of the mndtory courses referred to in 7 (1) nd 7 (2-1 to 2-6). (7) The mster thesis must e sumitted in printed nd in electronic form, s defined y the University of Innsruck Director of Studies. (8) It is permissile for severl students to work on one single mster thesis topic together, s long s it is fesile to ssess the performnce of ech individul student seprtely. 12 Exmintion regultions (1) Course performnce is evluted y one of the following methods: 1. In courses consisting of lecture nd course unit with continuing performnce ssessment, the finl grde comprises the grde of the course unit with continuing performnce ssessment nd n overll exm covering the course content. Admission to the overll exm requires positive grde in the course unit with continuous performnce ssessment. 2. In courses consisting exclusively of course units with continuing performnce ssessment, the finl grde is determined y the grdes of the course units with continuing performnce ssessment. (2) The exmintion method (written/orl/exm pper/s) for exmintions in course units with continuing performnce ssessment is determined y the instructor of the course unit efore the course unit strts. (3) Overll exms of the courses referred to in 4 (2) comprise the entire course content; they re dministered y individul exminers. The overll exm is written exm (mximum length: 90 minutes). (4) The ssessment of courses orgnized y other mster progrms is sed on the exmintion regultions of the respective curriculum. 13 Acdemic degree Grdutes of the Mster Progrm in Business Eduction re wrded the cdemic degree of "Mster of Science", or "M.Sc.", in rief. 14 Implementtion This curriculum comes into force on 1 Octoer For the Curriculum Committee: Ass.
