7 COMMUNITY AND PROFESSIONAL SERVICE: 2004 to 2007 Director, Ontario Association of Family Mediation (O.A.F.M.), Chair, Child Protection Mediation Committee. Chair, Child Protection Mediation Accreditation Committee; 1994 to 1995 Ontario Civil Justice Review, a joint task force of the Ontario Court of Justice and the Ontario Ministry of the Attorney General member Family Law Group. The recommendations published in the first report of the Civil Justice Review (Toronto): Ontario Civil Justice Review, March 1995, were adopted; 1993 to 1994 Member of Advisory Board, The Landlord/Tenant Dispute Resolution Project, under the direction of The Honourable Mr. Justice B.T. Granger, Regional Senior Judge, Ontario Court of Justice. The Report of the Project, dated May 26, 1994 was largely adopted in the first Report of the Ontario Civil Justice Review; 2002 Member, Family Rules Committee: Information Working Group. The subcommittee has been struck to draft a Rule with respect to information sessions and the impact of parental separation on children and families; 1994 Present Member, Liaison Committee, Ontario Superior Court of Justice, Sub-Committee on improving the Court Process. The Sub-Committee has been struck to examine the Court Administrative Process and made recommendations for improvements which would provide better service to the community, and increase the efficiency of the Court; 1998 Member, Middlesex Family Law Association, Sub-Committee on Child Protection. This committee was struck to make submissions to the Panel of the Experts on child protection. The submission of the Sub-Committee was tendered to the Panel in February, The submission recommended the provision of Mediation Services in Child Protection Cases. The committee held a series of consultation meetings with stakeholders, and reported on an on-going basis to the Resource Committee. Under its direction, a request was made for additional hours in the Family Law Information Centre (FLIC) to support parents in Child Protection Cases. Full time FLIC services were approved by the Attorney General Member, Child Support Guideline Implementation sponsored by the Ministry of the Attorney General. Present public information sessions to explain the philosophy, operation and effect of the Child Support Guidelines for children and families; 1995 Present Member, Resource Committee, Ontario Superior Court of Justice. Sub-Committee which initiated a broad based community initiative to place Community Resource Information and Referral Service in the Court House, staffed by volunteers and funded by the community. This proposal was approved by the Resource Committee on April 18, The concept was endorsed by the Chief Justice and the Attorney General
8 funded the Family Law Information Centre (The FLIC) in September, 1999 at the Middlesex County Court House; Member of Sub-Committee struck to deal with issues of the self-represented in the Family Court. A demonstration project The Legal Education and Resource Network (L.E.A.R.N.) was created; Member of Committee to establish a parenting education program for families In the Middle, to which all parents within the Family Court system would be referred. Program approved by the Resource Committee on January 25, 1996 and launched in February, One of a team of seven presenters. Program has been given once monthly; Family Law Information Meeting. Organizer and presenter of a 1 ½ hour program of general content with respect to legal and procedural matters within the Family Court, including its Mediation Service and Community Resource assistance. This program is presented to the public monthly, in partnership with the London Public Library. Organized an additional 16 sessions in public malls to promote the new Family Court in February and March, 1996; Couples Apart Parents Forever organized a comprehensive series of public education workshops for parents experiencing separation and divorce. Sessions are presently offered twice a month in London, Ontario; 1996 to 1997 Member, Working Group on Family Matters in Legal Aid. This broad based community group met to consider the changes that have affected clients of the Court seeking Legal Aid for Family Law since April 1, The Committee prepared a Response to Public Consultation Paper, which was submitted to Legal Aid Review in March, 1997; 1990 to 1992 Founding Member, Board of Directors, London International Children s Festival. Volunteer Coordinator, recruiting, training and developing in excess of 1,200 volunteers to develop, promote, fund and produce a four day international children s festival for the children of Southwestern Ontario. This festival has since continued on an annual basis to 1980 Vice-Chairman, London and Middlesex Central Planning Advisory Committee; 1979 Chairman, Social Planning Council London, Ontario Member, Planning Committee, Westminster Business Association, London, Ontario 1976 to 1979 Member, Board of Directors, United Way, London, Ontario;
