The technlgy centres Azti and Tecnalia Research & Innvatin are part f it. TECNALIA S INTERNATIONAL FELLOWSHIPS FOR EXPERIENCED RESEARCHERS (TIFER) CALL 2012 TECNALIA S INTERNATIONAL FELLOWSHIPS FOR EXPERIENCED RESEARCHERS Call 2012 will remain pen up t and including 31 st f August, OBJECTIVE This prgramme is c-funded by the Eurpean Cmmissin under the 7 th Framewrk Prgramme ( COFUND - Peple Marie Curie Actins). TIFER supprt the temprary incrpratin (2 years) f experienced researchers t TECNALIA (Fundación Tecnalia Research & Innvatin r Fundación Azti) t develp their prpsed research prjects with TECNALIA s research teams and facilities. The aim f the prgramme is t fster and cnslidate the Eurpean Research Area (ERA) by attracting talented researchers and develping their careers. 2. BENEFICIARIES: WHO CAN APPLY? - Candidates must be nn-residents undertaking trans-natinal mbility ( Definitin f trans-natinal mbility: At the time f the deadline fr submissin f prpsals, researchers must nt have resided r carried ut their main activity (wrk, studies, etc.) in Spain fr mre than 12 mnths in the 3 years immediately prir t the reference date. Shrt stays, such as hlidays, are nt taken int accunt. Furthermre, applicants wrking at TECNALIA fr mre than 3 mnths befre the reference date will nt be cnsidered). - Candidates must hld a PhD Degree at the mment f the start f the fellwship, r must have at least fur years f full-time equivalent research experience (including the perid f research training) after the degree which frmally allwed them t embark n a dctrate. 4 4. APPLICATIONS The applicatin prcess will nly be made n-line. The infrmatin relating t this call is available at Candidates will be supprted during the prcess by the Helpdesk: tifer.helpdesk@tecnalia.cm This Helpdesk will als assist applicants in any questin nt slved in the web page. Applicatins must be presented in English. All infrmatin f the prcess will be written in English. TECNALIA will require the duly cmpleted applicatin and the required dcumentatin t be submitted by the 31 st August at the latest: - Applicatin frm: applicants will fill-up their persnal data. - CV (Annexed in PDF): It shall cntain all relevant infrmatin abut the training f the researcher, her/his prfessinal experience and cmpetence, research results as publicatins (i.e. ISI, psitin as authr), prjects (respnsibility as prject, task, r wrkpackage leader) and awards, etc. - Letter f interest (Annexed in PDF): The candidate must write a letter telling: 1) his/her mtivatin t be part f the desired research team, 2) his/her persnal adequacy t the fellwship and 3) the impact that it might suppse fr his/her career and fr TECNALIA. - Prject utline: (Annexed in PDF) descriptin f the prpsed research activities t be carried ut during the fellwship. Minimum extensin: 3 pages; maximum: 10 pages. All these required dcumentatin shuld be attached in a single file in Attach CV TECNALIA may require whatever dcumentatin and/r cmplimentary infrmatin it cnsiders necessary t prperly understand and assess the submitted applicatin, at any stage f the evaluatin prcess. 5 5. SELECTION PROCESS The selectin will be based n the candidate s academic qualificatins and research excellence. The Selectin Cmmittee is cmpsed f internal (frm TECNALIA) and external members. Beside the Selectin Cmmittee, there are remte prject evaluatrs, members f the internatinal scientific cmmunity, selected accrding t their expertise and the research area f the prject. The selectin prcess will be rganized as fllws: 5.1. Eligibility check: Applicatins must fulfil all the eligibility criteria if they are t be retained fr the selectin prcess. Pre-selectin Candidates will be ranked based n the sum f the tw evaluatins: candidate evaluatin and prject evaluatin. a) Candidate Evaluatin The candidate evaluatin will be based n the fllwing criteria: Research results Awards and reference letters Impact f the fellwship n candidate s career develpment b) Prject Evaluatin The prject evaluatin will be based n the fllwing criteria: Feasibility Degree f riginality r innvatin f the prject Aligned with the strategic research fields specified in tpic 3. The tp-ranked applicants will be invited fr an interview. The nn-selected candidates will be infrmed abut the utcme f the evaluatin f the pre-selectin prcess, specifying the strengths and weaknesses f their applicatins Interviews In the interview, candidates will be evaluated by the Selectin Cmmittee accrding t the fllwing criteria: a) Scientific knwledge shwn. Candidates must shw a high degree f scientific knwledge abut the technlgies invlved in the prpsed prject. The candidates will have t defend the feasibility t achieve the bjectives, the degree f innvatin, and the interdisciplinarity f the prject, respnding t the bjectins addressed by the prject evaluatrs. b) Team wrk capability Tecnalia sets imprtance t the capability f the candidate t be part f, r t lead, high perfrmance teams. c) Mtivatin. Cnsidering that cultural adaptatin t a new envirnment is always difficult, candidates shuld have a strng persnal mtivatin fr the mbility experience. d) Persnal skills. Cmmunicatin, presentatin, managerial, leadership skills f the candidate will be taken int accunt Selectin After the interviews, the Selectin Cmmittee will have t decide the final ranking list. The first candidates n this list will be accepted and the rest will enter a reserve list. Bth lists will be psted n the website with the applicatin reference. Page 6 f 7
7 The nn-selected candidates will be infrmed abut the utcme f the interview specifying the strengths and weaknesses f their applicatins Acceptance f fellwships Successful candidates will be invited t sign the jb cntract and will start the fellwship. Candidates n the reserve list might be selected in the event that anther higher ranked applicatin withdraws, is withdrawn, r is declared ineligible. At the end f each phase f the selectin prcess, applicants will receive feedback. 6. APPOINTMENT CONDITIONS OF SELECTED FELLOWS The fellws will sign a temprary jb cntract (24 mnths) and will benefit frm emplyment cnditins that meet the reginal, natinal and Eurpean standards. This type f cntract entitles fellws t full scial security cverage. Earnings will be in line with the retributin salaries paid fr c-wrkers with similar experience and respnsabilities. Tecnalia guarantees nn discriminatry treatment upn gender, age, disability, sexual rientatin, religin r plitical believe, scial rigin and ecnmic cnditin in cmpliance with Spanish legislatin and its wn internal regulatins in frce. It is als cmmitted t the Recmmendatins f the Eurpean Charter fr Researchers and the Cde f Cnduct fr the Recruitment f Researchers. 7. ETHICAL ISSUES TIFER is c-funded by the Eurpean Cmmissin. As such, TECNALIA is cmmitted t the fundamental ethical principles carried ut by the Seventh Framewrk Prgramme and fully respects the Charter f Fundamental Rights f the Eurpean Unin. Due t the type f research carried ut by Tecnalia s research units the prjects selected by the calls shuld nt raise, in principle, any ethical issues. In any case, Tecnalia staff in charge f the initial screening f the fellwships applicatins as well as the members f the Evaluatin and Selectin Cmmittee will be instructed t take int accunt the fields excluded frm FP7, natinal and reginal regulatins. Candidates are requested t cmply with FP7 and destinatin s natinal and reginal regulatins regarding ethics. In the prpsal, they must identify befrehand, any ptential ethics cnflict. If the prpsed research prject raises ethical issues, the applicant must prvide dcuments assuring that the prject will be carried ut accrding t the relevant legal and ethical framewrks. Page 7 f 7
