GL 502 ก 2 (-0-6) (Advanced German Language Skills 2) ( ก /no credits) ก ก ก ก GL 501 Practice of listening, speaking, reading and writing skills for German language understanding and usage on a higher level than GL 501.

6 Methodik und Didaktik des Deutschen als Fremdsprache GL 60 (-0-6) (Studying German as a Foreign Language) ก ก ก ก A study of German as a Foreign Language as an academic subject, as well as the role of the German language in the world with an emphasis on relevant questions concerning the learning of German as a foreign language. GL 612 กก ก (-0-6) (Principles of Teaching and Learning German as a Foreign Language) ก ก ก ก ก ก A study of traditional and current teaching and learning methods as well as the factors relevant for practical usage in teaching and learning German as a foreign language. GL 614 ก ก ก ก ก (-0-6) (Teaching and Learning Materials: Analysis, Development and Application) ก ก ก ก ก ก ก ก ก ก ก ก A study of diverse teaching and learning materials for German as a Foreign Language. Practices their analysis according to international criteria as well as their development and application. GL 616 ก (-0-6) (Testing and Evaluation) ก ก ก ก ก ก A study of types of tests in teaching German as a Foreign Language. Practices designing valid tests and examinations, including insights gained from the analysis and evaluation of test results.

7 GL 621 ก ก (-0-6) (Teaching German Literature) ก ก ก ก ก ก ก ก ก ก A study of the usage of literature in teaching German as a Foreign Language as well as criteria for the selection of suitable texts for different learner groups, including methods of teaching literature in classrooms. GL 62 ก ก (-0-6) (Teaching Cultural Studies) ก ก ก ก ก ก ก ก ก A study of the role of cultural studies in learning German as a Foreign Language as well as of the various methods of teaching cultural studies with an emphasis on the cognitive, communicative and intercultural approaches.

8 Theoretische und angewandte Linguistik GL 60 ก (-0-6) (Principles of German Linguistics) ก ก ก ก A study of mostly recent thoughts and descriptive methods of German linguistics, includes overview of linguistic core fields. GL 62 ก (-0-6) (German Morpho-Syntax) ก ก ก ก ก ก A study of relevant morpho-syntactic aspects of German and their relevance in everyday communication. Focuses on word classes, word flexion, and sentence as well as linear sentence structure. GL 64 ก ก (-0-6) (Text-Linguistics: Text Analysis and Construction) ก กก ก ก ก ก ก ก ก An analysis of types of texts, text cohesion and text function for a critical text usage. Practices application of insights gained from analysis. GL 66 (-0-6) (Contrastive Linguistics) ก ก ก ก A study of the differences and similarities between language of origin and target language, including culture-specific points of view regarding linguistic phenomena as well as structural contrasts.

9 GL 641 ก (-0-6) (German for Communication) ก ก ก ก ก Practices different language functions, levels of speech and stylistic/rhetorical means based on communication theories, includes (culture-)contrastive aspects. GL 64 (-0-6) (The Linguistics of German for Specific Purposes) ก ก ก ก ก Practices composing texts relevant for professional usage on the basis of typologies of types of texts, text construction, and the study of representative text examples. GL 645 ก ก 1 (-0-6) (Translation 1) ก ก ก ก ก A study of fundamental terms of translation as well as various translation methods. Includes practical translation. GL 646 ก ก 2 (-0-6) (Translation 2) ก ก ก GL 645 ก ก ก Practices translation on a higher level than GL 645 in original language German and German original language.

10 Literaturwissenschaft und Komparatistik GL 652 ก ก (-0-6) (Reading Literature) ก ก ก ก ก ก ก ก ก ก ก ก ก ก A study of ways of reading and understanding literature as well as the use of literary aides. Practices interpretation of poetic, dramatic and epic genres, discusses the roles of poet, text and reader in literary production and reception. GL 655 ก ก (-0-6) (Comparative Literary Reading) ก ก ก ก ก ก ก ก A systematic study of important aspects in comparing German and non- German literature, focusing on cultural aspects and their literary depiction, including current social topics and questions as well as their realization in literature.

11 Landeskunde und Kulturwissenschaft GL 667 ก (-0-6) (The Culture of the German-Speaking Countries) ก ก ก ก ก ก ก ก A study of fundamental aspects of the culture of the German-speaking countries regarding religion, philosophy, the arts and music, political and social systems as well as regional customs in comparison with Southeast Asian countries. GL 661 ก (-0-6) (A Historical Overview of the German-Speaking Countries) ก ก ก ก ก ก ก ก ก A study of essential historical, social, political and economic developments of the German-speaking countries from the early Modern Age to the present. Includes pan-european contexts and relations between the German-speaking countries and Southeast Asia. GL 669 ก ก (-0-6) (Relations between the German-Speaking Countries and ASEAN) ก ก ก ก ก ก ก ก ก ก ก ก ก A study of political, cultural and economic structures of the Germanspeaking countries in comparison with ASEAN. Emphasis is on the relationships between public, private and state institutions and organizations of the two groups of countries, and their functions and roles in each region.

12 Propädeutikum GL 67 ก ก (-0-6) (Academic Research and Presentation Techniques) ก ก ก ก ก ก ก ก ก ก A study of various types of qualitative and quantitative research in German as a Foreign Language using practical course work as example, with special emphasis on language skills in an academic context.

13 Sonstiges GL 68 ก ก (-0-6) (Independent Study) ก ก ก ก ก ก Survey, examination, design and development of a practical project or research pertinent to German as a Foreign Language under supervision of an advisor. GL 685 6(0-0-18) (Master s Paper) ก ก ก ก ก An in-depth written study of selected topics in the field of German as a Foreign Language to be approved by the graduate advisor. GL 689 ก 0(0-0-0) (Comprehensive Examination) ก ก ก ก ก ก ก ก ก ก ก An examination to assess the students knowledge and competence in applying what they have learned, from specific or related disciplines, to their own work or research. The examination may be written or oral or both as specified by the requirements of the individual area of specialization. GL (0-0-6) (Thesis) ก ก ก ก ก Presenting the thesis proposal and carrying out the research project relevant to the thesis. Approval of the graduate advisor and thesis committee required. Writing the thesis under the regular supervision of the graduate advisor and the thesis committee.

Morals, ethics and values are examined as guides for appropriate behaviour and professionalism; human dignity and pride in Thai identity; incalculating sound awareness of society and the nation s responsibility; conserving Thai wisdom, natural resources and environment. Practice in self-appraisal, emotion quotient, working with others, setting life and work planning programs, vision creation, analytical thinking, synthesis, creative thinking, method and approach in administrating life, family, and society, with an emphasis on selfstudy, self-reliance, optimism, continually seeking knowledge, and the application of knowledge and skills to their lives and work. RU 60 ก (-0-6) (Graduate Study) ก /no credits ก ก ก ก ก ก ก ก ก ก ก ก ก ก ก ก ก ก ก A study of the philosophy, objectives and procedure governing study; ways in which to conduct research using a variety of sources, including analysis and synthesis of data and information so obtained; style and techniques for writing reports, articles, thematic papers, theses and dissertations; models for referencing ideas and constructing reference lists; guidance on writing abstracts, scholarly presentations and submitting articles for publication.
