To get the most out of your purchase, be sure to read this manua carefuy. Keep the watch exposed to bright ight The eectricity generated by the soar pane of the watch is Bright Light stored by a rechargeabe battery. Leaving or using the watch where it is not exposed to ight causes the battery to run down. Make sure the watch is exposed to ight as Soar pane much as possibe. When you are not wearing the watch on your wrist, position the face so it is pointed at a source of bright ight. You shoud try to keep the watch outside of your seeve as much as possibe. Charging is reduced signifi canty if the face is covered ony partiay. E-1 The watch continues to operate, even when it is not exposed to ight. Leaving the watch in the dark can cause the battery to run down, which wi resut in some watch functions to be disabed. If the battery goes dead, you wi have to re-confi gure watch settings after recharging. To ensure norma watch operation, be sure to keep it exposed to ight as much as possibe. 2 Demo Mode In the Timekeeping Mode, hoding down C for about three seconds wi enter the demo mode. In the demo mode, the screen cyces through the norma timekeeping, stopwatch, and Word Time screens in fi ve-second intervas. To exit the demo mode Press any button. Timekeeping Use the Timekeeping Mode to set and view the current time and date. Day of week PM indicator Hour : Year Month Day E-10 Read This Before You Set the Time and Date! This watch is preset with a number of city codes, each of which represents the time zone where that city is ocated. When setting the time, it is important that you fi rst seect the correct city code for your Home (the city where you normay use the watch). If your ocation is not incuded in the preset city codes, seect the preset city code that is in the same time zone as your ocation. Note that a of the times for the Word Time Mode city codes (page E-30) are dispayed in accordance with the time and date settings you confi gure in the Timekeeping Mode. E-11 To set the time and date E In the Timekeeping Mode, hod down A unti the city code starts to f ash, which indicates the setting screen. 2. Use D and B to seect the city code you want. Make sure you seect your Home code before changing any other setting. For fu information on city codes, see the Tabe at the back of this manua. 3. Press C to move the f ashing in the sequence shown beow to seect the other settings. When the timekeeping setting you want to change is f ashing, use D or B to change it as described beow. The day of the week is dispayed automaticay in accordance with the date (year, month, and day) settings. 12-hour and 24-hour timekeeping With the 12-hour format, the P (PM) indicator appears to the eft of the hour digits for times in the range of noon to 11:59 p.m. and no indicator appears to the eft of the hour digits for times in the range of midnight to 11:59 a.m. With the 24-hour format, times are dispayed in the range of 0:00 to 23:59, without any indicator. The 12-hour/24-hour timekeeping format you seect in the Timekeeping Mode is appied in a other modes. Dayight Saving Time (DST) Dayight Saving Time (summer time) advances the time setting by one hour from Standard Time. Remember that not a countries or even oca areas use Dayight Saving Time. E-14 E-15 To change the Dayight Saving Time (summer time) setting 1. In the Timekeeping Mode, hod down A unti the city code starts to f ash, which indicates the setting screen. 2. Press C and the DST setting screen appears. 3. Use D to cyce through the DST settings in the sequence shown beow. E-16 DST indicator 4. When the setting you want is seected, press A to exit the setting screen. The DST indicator appears to indicate that Dayight Saving Time is turned on. Stopwatch Remaining memory Spit time The 1/100-second stopwatch can measure eapsed time and ap/spit times. Stopwatch times are stored in memory. The stopwatch measurement operation continues even if you exit the Stopwatch Mode. Exiting the Stopwatch Mode whie a ap/spit time is frozen on the dispay cears the ap/spit time and returns to eapsed time measurement. A of the operations in this section are performed in the Stopwatch Mode, which you enter by pressing (page E-8). Note See page E-50 for information about the type of data the watch stores in memory when you use the stopwatch. Use the Reca Mode (page E-22) to view data stored in memory. After that, the dispay returns to norma stopwatch time measurement. During a stopwatch time measurement operation, the current ap/spit number is shown at the top of the dispay, and the ap time and spit time are shown in the midde and at the bottom. You can change the positions of the ap time and spit time by pressing A whie a stopwatch operation is in progress or stopped. 3 To position the ap time and spit time on the dispay Each press of A cyces the ap time and spit time positions in the sequence shown beow. You can perform the above operation whie stopwatch operation is ongoing or stopped. Stopwatch records are stored in ogs that are created automaticay by the watch. See Memory Management on page E-48 for more information. The tite screen of the newest og appears fi rst whenever you enter the Reca Mode. Log numbers are automaticay assigned in sequence, starting from. A of the operations in this section are performed in the Reca Mode, which you enter by pressing C (page E-9). To reca stopwatch records In the Reca Mode, use A to scro through the og tite screens, starting from the newest one, as shown beow. When the tite screen of the og you want is dispayed, use D (+) and B ( ) to cyce through the records contained in the og. Log Tite Screen Stopwatch Record Screen Lap/Spit number Spit time Best Lap Time Screen BEST indicator E-23 The ocations of the ap time and spit time in the Stopwatch Record screen are determined by the dispay format you ast seected in the Stopwatch Mode (page E-17). The BEST indicator identifi es the record that contains the best ap time in the og. If a best ap time record is deeted automaticay when the og becomes fu, the BEST indicator wi not be transferred to the record with the next best ap time. See Memory Management on page E-48 for more information about automatic deetion of records. To deete a ogs Whie hoding down B, hod down D for about fi ve seconds unti the watch beeps once and then a second time. CLR wi f ash on the dispay for two seconds and then the watch wi beep once. Keep B and D depressed and ALL wi f ash on the dispay for three seconds, and then the watch wi beep again. This indicates that a og data is ceared. You cannot deete ogs whie an eapsed timing operation is in progress. To deete a og 1. In the Reca Mode, dispay the tite screen or one of the records of the og you want to deete. 2. Whie hoding down B, hod down D for about two seconds unti the watch beeps. CLR wi f ash on the dispay for two seconds and then the watch wi beep. Reease B and D at this time. You cannot deete the og of an ongoing eapsed time measurement operation. E-24 E-25 Countdown Timer Number of Repeats Timer 1 Dua timers can be set with two different starting times. The watch can be confi gured so the two timers aternate, so when one reaches the end of its countdown, the other timer starts. You can specify a number of repeats vaue, which contros how many times the two-timer countdown operation is performed (1 = once, 2 = twice, etc.). The starting time of each timer can be set in fi ve-second steps up to 99 minutes, 55 seconds. You can specify up to 10 repeats. The watch emits a short beep whenever either of the timers reaches the end of its countdown during an ongoing timer operation. The watch emits a 5-second beep when the end of the fi na timer operation (specifi ed by the number of repeats) is reached. Countdown End Beeper The countdown end beeper ets you know when the countdown reaches zero. The beeper stops after about 5 seconds or when you press any button. E-26 To configure the countdown timer 1. Whie the countdown start time is on the dispay in the Countdown Timer Mode, hod down A unti the current countdown start time starts to f ash, which indicates the setting screen. If the countdown start time is not dispayed, use the procedure under To use the countdown timer (page E-29) to dispay it. 2. Press C to move the f ashing in the sequence shown beow to seect other settings. Timer 1 Timer 1 Timer 2 Number of Repeats Timer 2 E When the setting you want to change is f ashing, use D and B to change it as described beow. Setting Screen Button Operation, Use D (+) and B ( ) to change the setting. To use the countdown timer Current repeat count Current timer time Preset number of repeats (Reset) Timer 1 or 2 Number of Repeats Use D (+) and B ( ) to change the setting. To disabe either timer, set 00'00" as its countdown start time. E-28 Current time (Start/Stop) Press D whie in the Countdown Timer Mode to start the countdown timer. The countdown is performed by aternating between Timer 1 and Timer 2. A short beep is emitted to signa a changeover from one timer to the other. Press D to pause a countdown. Press D again to resume. Pressing B whie a countdown timer is stopped resets it to the start time specifi ed by you. The watch emits a 5-second beep when the end of the fi na timer operation (specifi ed by the number of repeats) is reached. Even if you exit the Countdown Timer Mode, the countdown timer operation continues and the watch beeps as required. E-29

4 Word Time E-30 code Current time in seected city Word Time shows the current time in 48 cities (31 time zones) around the word. The times kept in the Word Time Mode are synchronized with the time being kept in the Timekeeping Mode. If you fee that there is an error in any Word Time Mode time, check to make sure you have the correct city seected as your Home. Aso check to make sure that the current time as shown in the Timekeeping Mode is correct. Seect a city code in the Word Time Mode to dispay the current time in any particuar time zone around the gobe. See the Tabe at the back of this manua for information about the UTC differentia settings that are supported. A of the operations in this section are performed in the Word Time Mode, which you enter by pressing C (page E-9). To view the time in another city Whie in the Word Time Mode, use D (eastward) and B (westward) to scro through the city codes (time zones). Pressing D and B at the same time wi jump to the UTC time zone. E-31 To togge a city code time between Standard Time and Dayight Saving Time 1. In the Word Time Mode, use D and B to dispay the city code (time zone) whose Standard Time/Dayight Saving Time setting you want to change. 2. Hod down A to togge between Dayight Saving Time (DST indicator dispayed) and Standard Time (DST indicator not dispayed). The DST indicator is shown on the Word Time Mode screen whie Dayight Saving Time is turned on. DST indicator Note that the Standard Time/Dayight Saving Time setting affects ony the currenty dispayed city code. Other city codes are not affected. Note that you cannot switch between Standard Time and Dayight Saving Time whie UTC is seected as the city code. Aarms Aarm number Aarm time (Hour : ) The Aarm Mode gives you a choice of fi ve daiy aarms, one of which is a snooze aarm. Aso use the Aarm Mode to turn the Houry Time Signa ( ) on and off. The snooze aarm screen is indicated by, whie the other aarm screens are numbered through. The Houry Time Signa screen is indicated by. A of the operations in this section are performed in the Aarm Mode, which you enter by pressing C (page E-9). E-32 E-33 To set an aarm time 1. In the Aarm Mode, use D to scro through the aarm screens unti the one whose time you want to set is dispayed. To set an aarm time, dispay the appicabe aarm screen ( through, or ). The snooze aarm operation repeats every fi ve minutes. 2. After you seect an aarm, hod down A unti the hour setting of the aarm time starts to f ash, which indicates the setting screen. This operation turns on the aarm automaticay. 3. Press C to move the f ashing between the hour and minute settings. 4. Whie a setting is f ashing, use D (+) and B ( ) to change it. With the 12-hour format, set the time correcty as a.m. or p.m. (P indicator). 5. Press A to exit the setting screen. E-34 Aarm Operation The aarm tone sounds at the preset time for 10 seconds, regardess of the mode the watch is in. In the case of the snooze aarm, the aarm operation is performed a tota of seven times, every fi ve minutes, unti you turn the aarm off (page E-36). Aarm and Houry Time Signa operations are performed in accordance with the Timekeeping Mode time. To stop the aarm tone after it starts to sound, press any button. Performing any one of the operations beow during a 5-minute interva between snooze aarms cances the current snooze aarm operation. In the Aarm Mode, use D to seect an aarm. Aarm on indicator Snooze aarm indicator Aarm on/off : Aarm on : Aarm off 2. Press B to togge it on and off. Turning on a aarm (,,, or ) dispays the aarm on indicator on its Aarm Mode screen. In a modes, the aarm on indicator is shown for any aarm that currenty is turned on. The aarm on indicator f ashes whie the aarm is sounding. The snooze aarm indicator f ashes whie the snooze aarm is sounding and during the 5-minute intervas between aarms. To turn the Houry Time Signa on and off 1. In the Aarm Mode, use D to seect the Houry Time Houry time Signa ( ). signaon indicator 2. Press B to togge it on and off. The Houry Time Signa on indicator is shown on the dispay in a modes whie this function is turned on. E-36 E-37 Iumination A LED (ight-emitting diode) iuminate the dispay for easy reading in the dark. Iumination Precautions The iumination provided by the ight may be hard to see when viewed under direct sunight. Iumination automaticay turns off whenever an aarm sounds. Frequent use of iumination runs down the battery. To iuminate the dispay manuay In any mode, press L to turn on iumination. You can use the procedure beow to seect either 1.5 seconds or 3 seconds as the iumination duration. When you press L, the iumination wi remain on for about 1.5 seconds or 3 seconds, depending on the current iumination duration setting. To specify the iumination duration 1. In the Timekeeping Mode, hod down A unti the dispay contents start to fash. This is the setting screen. 2. Press C 10 times unti the current iumination duration setting ( or ) appears. 3. Press D to togge the setting between (approximatey 1.5 seconds) and (approximatey 3 seconds). E-38 E-39

5 Power Suppy This watch is equipped with a soar pane and a rechargeabe battery that is charged by the eectrica power produced by the soar pane. The iustration shown beow shows how you shoud position the watch for charging. Soar pane Exampe: Orient the watch so its face is pointing at a ight source. The iustration shows how to position a watch with a resin band. Note that charging effi ciency drops when any part of the soar pane is bocked by cothing, etc. You shoud try to keep the watch outside of your seeve as much as possibe. Charging is reduced signifi canty if the face is covered ony partiay. E-40 Important! Storing the watch for ong periods in an area where there is no ight or wearing it in such a way that it is bocked from exposure to ight can cause rechargeabe battery power to run down. Be sure that the watch is exposed to bright ight whenever possibe. This watch uses a rechargeabe battery to store power produced by the soar pane, so reguar battery repacement is not required. However, after very ong use, the rechargeabe battery may ose its abiity to achieve a fu charge. If you experience probems getting the rechargeabe battery to charge fuy, contact your deaer or CASIO distributor about having it repaced. Never try to remove or repace the watch s rechargeabe battery yoursef. Use of the wrong type of battery can damage the watch. A data stored in memory is deeted, and the current time and a other settings return to their initia factory defauts whenever battery power drops to Leve 5 (pages E-42 and E-43) and when you have the battery repaced. Turn on the watch s Power Saving function (page E-53) and keep it in an area normay exposed to bright ight when storing it for ong periods. This heps to keep the rechargeabe battery from going dead. E-41 Battery Power Indicator and Recover Indicator The battery power indicator on the dispay shows you the current status of the rechargeabe battery s power. Except for timekeeping and the C (charge) indicator, a functions and dispay indicators disabed. Modue 3441 charge indicator is f ashing CHG. Leve Battery Power Indicator Function Status 5 A functions disabed. The f ashing L and LOW indicators at eve 3 te you that battery power is very ow, and that exposure to bright ight for charging is required as soon as possibe. At Leve 5, a functions are disabed and settings return to their initia factory defauts. Once the battery reaches Leve 2 after faing to Leve 5, reconfi gure the current time, date, and other settings. The watch s Home code setting wi change automaticay to TYO (Tokyo) whenever the battery drops to Leve 5. Dispay indicators reappear as soon as the battery is charged from Leve 5 to Leve 2. Leaving the watch exposed to direct sunight or some other very strong ight source can cause the battery power indicator to show a reading temporariy that is higher than the actua battery eve. The correct battery eve shoud be indicated after a few minutes. E-43 Recover indicator Performing iumination, or beeper operations during a short period may cause (recover) to appear on the dispay. After some time, battery power wi recover and (recover) wi disappear, indicating that the above functions are enabed again. If (recover) appears frequenty, it probaby means that remaining battery power is ow. Leave the watch in bright ight to aow it to charge. Charging Precautions Certain charging conditions can cause the watch to become very hot. Avoid eaving the watch in the areas described beow whenever charging its rechargeabe battery. Aso note that aowing the watch to become very hot can cause its iquid crysta dispay to back out. The appearance of the LCD shoud become norma again when the watch returns to a ower temperature. Warning! Leaving the watch in bright ight to charge its rechargeabe battery can cause it to become quite hot. Take care when handing the watch to avoid burn injury. The watch can become particuary hot when exposed to the foowing conditions for ong periods. Actua required exposure times depend on ighting conditions. E-47 Reference This section contains more detaied and technica information about watch operation. It aso contains important precautions and notes about the various features and functions of this watch. Stopwatch You can use ap time measurement to time how ong it takes to compete a specifi c portion (such as a singe ap) of a race. You can use spit time measurement to time how ong it takes to get from the start to a specifi c point in a race. Memory Management Each time you press D to start a new eapsed time or ap/spit operation in the Stopwatch Mode (page E-17), the watch automaticay creates a new og in its memory. The og remains open for data storage unti you permanenty cose it by pressing B to reset the stopwatch to a zeros. The watch has enough memory to hod up to 121 records. Each og tite screen (start date and time) and ap/spit time uses up one record. E-48 A og tite screen identifi es a singe eapsed time operation, from the start up to the point the stopwatch is reset to a zeros. A ap/spit time record is stored under a og tite screen each time you perform a ap/spit operation. If watch memory is aready fu when you perform a stopwatch button operation that creates a new og, the odest og in memory and a of its records are deeted automaticay to make room for the new og. If you are adding records to the ony og in memory and watch memory becomes fu, adding another record causes the odest record in the og to be deeted automaticay to make room for the new record. E-49

How Stopwatch Data is Stored The foowing tabe describes how data is stored when you perform the various button operations described on page E-18. In the Timekeeping Mode, hod down A unti the city code starts to f ash, which indicates the setting screen. 2. Press C nine times unti the current button operation tone setting ( or ) appears. 3. Press D to togge the setting between (tone on) and (tone off). The mute indicator is dispayed in a modes when the button operation tone is turned off. E-52 Power Saving Function When turned on, the Power Saving function enters a seep Power saving indicator state automaticay whenever the watch is eft in an area for a certain period where it is dark. The tabe beow shows how watch functions are affected by the Power Saving function.
