5 Goals & Objectives of Outreach Reach out to ALL Veterans Find underserved Veterans Help families of Veterans Increase access to benefits Help improve quality of life

6 Tribal Veteran Representative (TVR) Program History Veterans meeting October, 2001 Called by Veterans to discuss lack of access or knowledge of benefits TVR program developed from ideas and concerns of Veterans TVRs appointed and/or supported by Tribal Governments

7 Training Purpose Help Veterans and their families with the necessary forms and advice for the following programs: Claims Benefits Healthcare Enrollment Education Benefits Home Loan Programs Death Benefits Various other benefit-related issues

8 Who are Tribal Veterans Representatives? Though the title of the program is Tribal, TVRs will be the first to tell you that they reach out to ALL Veterans. Go to locations off the rez and help with groups of Veterans or individual Veterans. Help all Veterans and Veterans families.

10 TVRs Level of Training Most are volunteers Liaisons for Veterans, the VA, community organizations Not certified service officers; do not have accreditation as a service organization Ongoing and annual formal training National TVR Training Manual

15 TVR Locations In all states of VISN 19 In VISN 23, which is generally made up of states to the east of VISN 19 4 other VISNs have sent TVRs to training at Ft. Harrison 125 TVRS trained in 15 different states
