Financial Assistance and Scholarships The College of DuPage Office of Student Financial Assistance provides a comprehensive range of services that bridges the gap between a student s financial resources and the cost of education at College of DuPage. Financial Aid programs include the Federal Pell Grant program, the Illinois Monetary Award (MAP) program, federal and state Supplemental Grant programs, Federal Work Study, Veterans grants, and Federal Student Loans. Broadcast Alert System Students and staff can now sign up for Rave Alert and Rave Guardian, two broadcasting alert and personal safety systems. Rave Alert uses s, text messages, voice messages and RSS feeds to notify subscribers of both emergency and non-emergency situations, such as weather-related class cancellations. Rave Guardian is a mobile phone application that notifies the campus police department of an emergency. To sign up, students and staff can visit: cod. Visit: and select Full Calendar under Upcoming Events. Premium Parking Premium Parking permits allow users to park in specifically designated parking spaces located close to campus buildings. (See Registration Schedule below) For returning College of DuPage students, follow these steps: Confirm your myaccess account Make sure you can still sign in to your myaccess account at: myaccess.cod. edu. TESTING CENTER Glen Ellyn Testing Center, (630) Berg Instructional Center (BIC), Room 2405/ General Information: College of DuPage requires Reading, Writing, Math and ESL Placement Tests to determine proper class placement. Students must complete an Admission Application Form before taking these tests. Photo ID and a College of DuPage ID number are required for testing. On-campus placement testing is available Monday and Tuesday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Wednesday and Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.; Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Hours vary during high peak times and semester breaks. Off-campus placement testing is available at the Learning Commons in the Naperville and Westmont Regional Centers, and at the Addison and Carol Stream Regional Centers. Call for testing hours. Some other services include CLEP testing, Proficiency testing, Classroom Makeup testing, COD Online testing, Health Science testing, Career Interest testing, and High-Stakes Certification testing. Distance Testing is available for COD students located 50 miles or more from the main campus. This session introduces important academic and student engagement concepts which will enhance your experience at College of DuPage. If you haven t already attended a New Student Advising Session, you can sign up by contacting Counseling and Advising at (630) Sessions are offered during the day and evening, and are also available at select times at our regional centers. Services Our faculty team of Student Success Counselors and Program Advisors partner with you to: Establish a Student Educational Plan for achieving your educational goals; Develop success strategies for improving your academic performance; Support your career exploration and decision-making process; and Discuss personal concerns that may be interfering with your educational or career success. We provide these services at the main campus in Glen Ellyn and at our four regional centers. In addition, we offer many workshops and seminars to promote your academic, career and personal success. Registration eligibility for returning students is based on the number of Institutional College of DuPage credits earned and begins on Thursday, April 10. Students may view and print their schedule and/or bill on myaccess.cod.edu Register online at: myaccess.cod.edu or in person at the Glen Ellyn campus, Student Registration Services, SSC, Room Students can also register at any regional center. Late Registration College of DuPage students may register without a permit through the second calendar day following the first class meeting (16-Week classes only). As an example, if the class starts on a Monday (M/W/F), a student can register through Tuesday for this class; if the class starts on Tuesday (T/R), a student can register through Wednesday for this class. Exceptions to this rule are courses with required safety training, licensure, accreditation, or mandatory seat hours for legal reasons. The waitlist function will remain active through the late (2-day) registration period. Students are expected to take full responsibility for making up any missed coursework associated with a late registration. Once the late registration period has passed, students are required to obtain a permit from the instructor. For 16-Week classes only, a $10 late registration fee will be charged for each class registered after the second calendar day following the first class meeting. 12-Week and 8-Week classes registered on or after the day the class(es) begins are considered late and students are required to obtain a permit from the instructor. A $10 late registration fee will be charged for each class registered late, on or after its start date. Students may request an E-permit to enroll late through myaccess for 12-Week and 8-Week classes only, through the 10th instructional day. Go to myaccess.cod.edu and log-in with your username and password. Under the Registration section in the student menu, select Request a Permit. Permits are valid for one day after issuance date. Waitlist for Closed Classes A waitlist is available to students for credit course sections. When a student attempts to register for a closed class, the student will be notified that a waitlist is available. The student will have the opportunity to be added to the waitlist for only one section per course. If a seat becomes available, the student will be notified via College of DuPage (dupage.edu) and have 24 hours to register for the open seat. If the student does not register for the open seat within 24 hours of notification, the student will be removed from the waitlist and the next student on the waitlist will be notified. If the student misses the 24-hour opportunity to register and wants to be placed back on the waitlist, the student will be placed at the bottom of the waitlist. The waitlist function will be turned off at midnight prior to the start of the 12-Week and 8-Week sessions. The waitlist function will remain active through the late (2-day) registration period for the 16-Week session. Withdrawal Procedure The final day for a student to withdraw from any course will be equal to 75 percent of the time for the respective academic session. Summer session withdrawal dates are: Fall Sessions Withdrawal Deadline First 8-Week Session... Thursday, Oct Week Session...Tuesday, Nov Week Session...Tuesday, Nov. 18 Second 8-Week Session...Tuesday, Nov. 25 After the deadline, students will be required to appeal for late withdrawal and provide appropriate documentation to the Student Registration Services Office for all requests. Students who are granted approval to withdraw by petition will not be eligible for refunds of tuition or fees and will receive a W grade on their transcript. Appeals must be submitted before the last class meeting for 16-Week, 12-Week and 8-Week session classes. TUITION Tuition Rates Tuition and fees are subject to change without notice. Tuition and fees for in-district Nursing, Practical Nursing, Dental Hygiene and Radiation Therapy students are $ per credit hour ($ tuition, plus $35.85 fee). Fees A $20 fee is charged for all returned checks. If collection proceedings are instituted, a handling fee is assessed. The Admission/Recording fee is a $20 non-refundable fee. A $10 late registration fee will be charged for each class registered on or after its start date. Field and Experiential Learning/Study Abroad trip fees are non-refundable. Travel protection brochures are available in the Field and Experiential Learning/Study Abroad office, BIC Lab fees are charged in certain courses. See class listings. Senior citizens (age 65 or over) are charged lab fees. An additional $57.50 fee is assessed for all Internet-based courses. Call (630) for information. Tuition Refund Policy: Refund dates are posted for each class on the student s schedule at myaccess.cod.edu. Students can view and print their schedule at myaccess.cod.edu under My Class Schedule. 100% Refunds of tuition and fees will be granted during first 7% of class calendar days. 50% Refunds of tuition only will be granted during first 8 to 12% of class calendar days. 10 8 FALL 2014 Payment Plans College of DuPage offers affordable payment plans for students. The payment plans provide the student the ability to make payments throughout the semester. If you are eligible for financial aid (i.e. grants, loans, or Veteran Benefits) you may qualify for a deferred payment plan. The deferred payment plan scheduled payments usually do not begin until seven weeks after the start of the semester to allow time for posting of all financial aid to a student s account. All students who enroll in the active or deferred payment plan will have payments automatically charged to a checking/savings account or debit/ credit card. A late fee will be charged for all missed payments. Active Payment Plan Enroll through MyAccess. A set-up fee of $25.00 will be charged at time of enrollment. A down payment will be required at time of enrollment. Payment plans are for one term only. Payments are automatic. Deferred Payment Plan for qualified students Enroll through MyAccess. $5.00 will be required at time of enrollment to verify financial information. The $5.00 will be refunded if financial aid covers 100% of the billed amount. For students whose aid does not cover 100% of the billed amount, the $5.00 will be applied to the outstanding balance. A set-up fee of $25.00 will be charged if the first scheduled payment is processed. Payment plans are for one term only. Payments are automatic. Failure to make the payments as agreed upon may result in your classes being dropped for non-payment for the amount owed. Student to Student Grant The Student to Student (STS) Grant program at College of DuPage is a state program that matches funds collected by the College for need-based grants. Funds are collected through the Student Activity Fee. The $0.15 donation per credit hour is voluntary. Students who do not wish to contribute can collect a refund at the Cashier s office. 12 10 FALL 2014 OPTIONS TO EXPLORE 3+1 Programs (630) Students who have completed an associate degree at College of DuPage are eligible to apply to a 3+1 program. Students who are new to College of DuPage can indicate their intent to enter the 3+1 program on their application to College of DuPage. All prospective 3+1 students should consult with an advisor or counselor to map an academic plan. Students can complete three years of their bachelor s degree requirements at College of DuPage. The fourth year of study is taught on College of DuPage s campus by the partnering university s faculty. After completing all degree requirements, the partner institution awards the bachelor s degree. AFT courses are accelerated, i.e., they are offered in an eight-week format and students typically attend one four-hour class session per week (evenings or Saturday morning). AFT classes are offered at four convenient locations: The COD campus in Glen Ellyn and the Westmont, Naperville and Addison regional centers. (Note: COD s Naperville Center (1223 Rickert) will be closed for renovation during fall Naperville classes will meet at our temporary location in the Fry Building, 2244 W. 95th St.) Students may enroll in AFT courses any time a new eightweek session begins (as determined by assigned registration dates). AFT offers Associate in Arts (AA) and Associate in Applied Science (AAS) Management degrees, along with Supervision, Management, Organizational Leadership and Entrepreneurship certificates. A wide variety of core general education and/or elective courses are also available, and these support many other COD degree and certificate programs, as well as some requirements of certain 3+1 degree agreements. Qualified students in traditional (non-accelerated) COD programs may enroll in AFT courses, as may qualified students of other colleges or universities. AFT syllabi post on Blackboard two weeks prior to class start with an assignment due for the first class. Students are expected to come to the first class with the first assignment completed.
