4 The International Dual Degree Business Program Our program is designed to provide you with the opportunity to complete your studies at FIU and receive a Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA) or a graduate business degree, while also earning a degree from your home institution. The International Dual Degree Business Program has many advantages over conventional exchange programs: Earn two degrees in almost the same time that it would take to obtain one. Stay for up to 12 months of Optional Practical Training (OPT) in the United States upon graduation. Access FIU s College of Business Career Management Services (CMS) office. Establish two networks of classmates and peers one in your home country and one in the United States an invaluable asset for your career and business development. Gain exposure to the world of business as you live and study in a different culture and business environment for approximately one year. Start your graduate studies at the Chapman School during any of our three terms: Fall (late August), Spring (early January) or Summer (early May); start dates will be based on the program you enroll in. Begin your undergraduate dual degree program during the summer term (early May). Tailor your educational experience to your specific career objectives. 4

7 Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) International Undergraduate Dual Degree Program A unique opportunity to earn two degrees an undergraduate business degree from your home institution and a BBA from FIU s internationally recognized College of Business, a global leader in international business education. Benefits Receive a discounted tuition price for all courses in your program of study. Obtain special registration for all dual degree courses during the registration process each semester. Complete all courses in your program of study successfully and your graduation time is guaranteed. Receive special assistance throughout the application process and various services upon arrival at FIU and during your program of study. Program Details Students come to FIU after completing at least 90 transferrable credits from their home institution generally after completion of the third year of study. Each student applies separately and his or her transcript is evaluated independently to determine the number of transferable credits and the remaining course requirements, as part of the cohort program of study. A minimum of 30 credit hours during a minimum of three consecutive semesters must be completed at FIU to earn the BBA. (Some prerequisites may be completed online from your home institution one semester prior to arriving at FIU.) A minimum cohort of students from the home institution, per major, is required to receive the tuition discount. * * Please contact us for current minimum number of students required per cohort. 7

9 Graduate Dual Degree Programs As a world leader in international business education, FIU s Chapman Graduate School of Business has a unique opportunity for you to earn complementary graduate business degrees in two different countries. We offer international dual degree programs in business and specialized master s, for those of you who want to be experts in a particular field. Our international dual degree network fosters academic exchanges, collaborative research projects and executive education, along with other programs. Highlights The International Dual Degree Business Program has many advantages over conventional exchange programs: You get a deeper exposure to the world of business by living and studying in a different culture and business environment for at least eight to nine months. You may start your studies at the Chapman School during any of our three terms: fall (late August), spring (early January) or summer (early May). * It allows you to tailor your educational experience to your specific career objectives. By earning two complementary degrees in two different locales, you gain access to two networks of business contacts and colleagues and exposure to two sets of potential employers. You can stay for up to 12 months of Optional Practical Training (OPT) in the United States upon completion of the program. General Master s Programs A business master s degree is a unique opportunity that opens doors to many future career and business opportunities because you are not locked into one profession or path. Your subject options include everything from marketing and finance to healthcare and leadership. Choose from the following general business master s degrees: ** International MBA Healthcare MBA Specialized Master s Degrees A specialized master s degree is ideal for students who want to become experts in a particular field, ranging from finance to international business. Many of the world s top executives hold this type of master s degree. 11 Master of International Business Our largest, most popular program in the international dual degree network, the Master of International Business, provides exposure to the emerging realities of doing business internationally. The program allows you to deepen your understanding of international business practices, while providing a comprehensive, graduate-level understanding of business and all its global aspects. The program also enhances your leadership, interpersonal and communication skills. How does it work? FIU accepts up to 12 credit hours for courses completed from your home institution s master s program. * During two consecutive semesters at FIU, you take 24 credit hours: One seminar course (three credit hours) Six core courses (three credit hours each) Master s Project in International Business (three credit hours) Fees Program cost for an international dual degree business student is approximately USD$22,000 (tuition only) for an academic year. ** It is estimated that a minimum of USD$15,144 is needed for maintenance, books and supplies. This amount will vary according to each individual s preferences and circumstances. Medical insurance is required for international students.
