2 Welcome in Berne 1st European Training Symposium (ETS) for Junior Heart Failure Cardiologists and Cardiac Surgeons Medical and device management of end-stage heart failure becomes an emerging field for heart failure cardiologists and cardiac surgeons. Unfortunately, no dedicated and officially accepted training program exists to date. One of the problems is the uncertainty who is cognizant for the topic? The cardiac surgeons or the cardiologists? In fact management of such kind of patients belongs to both specialties, but also to a multidisciplinary team. EUROMACS was founded in 2009 with the target to bring together individuals and institutions with the goal of running a European registry for data from patients with mechanical circulatory support systems. As responsible European registry, the association emphasizes also training of junior heart failure cardiologists and cardiac surgeons. The current 1st symposium will highlight this intention and act as a first link for future annual training programs. Participation of three training symposia will allow junior heart failure fellows to apply for an EUROMACS certification. CME Credits National Organizations: Swiss association for general medicine (SGAM): full duration of training creditable (one credit equals one continuing education hour) Swiss association for internal medicine (SGIM): 13 credits Swiss association for cardiology (SGK): 13,75 credits (Kat. 1 A) Swiss association for heart and cardiovascular surgery (SGHC): 12 credits (Friday 8, Saturday 4) International Organizations: European Board for Accreditation in Cardiology (EBAC): application form is in accreditation process Patronage: German Cardiac Society (DGK) European Board for Accreditation in Cardiology In compliance with EBAC/ EACCME guidelines, all speakers/ chairpersons participating in this programme have disclosed potential conflicts of interest that might cause a bias in the presentations. The Organising Committee is responsible for ensuring that all potential conflicts of interest relevant to the programme are declared to the audience prior to the CME activities.
