3 ISSP is the world's leading association for sustainability professionals.

4 ISSP Background and History Founded by the Zero Waste Alliance, and its parent organization the International Sustainable Development Foundation. Launched the Sustainability Professional Certificate series. 600 members. Published first piece of research the professional competency study that was the first to identify the core competencies of sustainability professionals. First ISSP Chapters launched in Toronto, Jakarta, Chicago and Portland. 2nd conference in Chicago with attendance from every inhabited continent; initiated sustainability professional certification process. 800 members.
