1 AT-S45 Version Management Software for the AT-9410GB Gigabit Ethernet Switches Product Documentation Software Release Notes Please read this document before you begin to use the AT-S45 management software. 2 Resolved Issues The switch was vulnerable to outside attack through a web server. (Reported in Customer Ticket # ) A switch would process OSPF packets instead of simply passing them. (Reported in Customer Ticket # ) The web browser interface did not display the ports of VLANs learned through GVRP as tagged ports. (Reported in Customer Ticket # ) The switch would accept management packets from any VLAN. You can now specify the Default VLAN (VID 1) as the management VLAN or you can continue to manage via any VLAN. (Reported in Customer Ticket # ) Running a Telnet management session during periods of heavy broadcast traffic caused the switch to stop forwarding packets. A high volume of SNMP traps caused the switch or management session to freeze. The switch would fail to recover after a physical data loop in the topology had been broken. A switch running GVRP stopped forwarding packets if the network administrator, using a web browser, changed the PVID of a port that matched the VID of a dynamically learned VLAN. (Reported in Customer Tickets #94291 and #92147.) A switch dropped IGMP reports from a host node if the node was connected to the switch through a tagged port. (Reported in Customer Ticket #94895.) Multiple Telnet or web browser management sessions during periods of heavy network traffic caused the master switch to lose its IP address. (Reported in Customer Ticket #93953.) A switch stopped forwarding traffic if it received multiple fragmented multicast packets. (Reported in Customer Ticket #88786.) A switch stopped forwarding traffic if it received two jumbo frames (greater than 1522 bytes) in succession. (Reported in Customer Ticket # ) A slave module would lose its configuration, including VLANs, if it was rebooted or powercycled. (Reported in Customer Ticket #99990.) Creating a new VLAN from a web browser management session using a VID of an existing VLAN overwrote the existing VLAN, instead of generating an error message. AT-S45 now displays an error message. Modifying VLANs when traffic was present occasionally resulted in VLAN instability, where flooded packets would cross VLAN boundaries. Flow control failed to work after power cycling the switch. 3 A switch crashed if it received ping packets at 1473 bytes with Telnet management enabled. (Reported in Customer Ticket # ) Operational Notes The port security trap is not supported. Since the AT-9410GB product was released, the configuration download has behaved as follows: When downloading a new configuration file that is the same as the existing configuration file on the AT-9410GB, the configuration will be unchanged. However, when downloading a new configuration file that is different from the existing configuration file on the AT-9410GB, the software will combine or merge the downloaded configuration with the existing configuration on the switch. If the new and existing files are different and you want to make sure that the two configuration files will not merge together, perform the following steps: - Reset the switch to Factory Defaults (which will erase the existing configuration). - Download the new configuration. The auto-mdi/mdix feature on a switch port is operable only when the port is using Auto- Negotiation to set speed and duplex mode. If a port s speed and duplex mode are set manually, the auto-mdi/mdix feature is disabled and the port s wiring configuration is set to MDI-X. Manually setting a port s speed and duplex mode may require the use of a crossover cable when connecting an end node to the port. If you manually configure a switch port to 100 Mbps, full-duplex, but the end node is operating at only 10 Mbps, the link LED on the switch port will be off, but the link LED on the end node might be on, erroneously indicating a valid link. To resolve the issue, be sure to always configure a switch port to the same speed and duplex mode as its end node, or configure the port to use Auto-Negotiation. The port-based VLAN mode described in pages 104 to 108 and 212 to 215 of the AT-S45 Management Software User s Guide for the AT-9410GB Switch is no longer supported. A dynamic MAC address learned on a tagged port will remain in the forwarding database until aged out by the aging timer, even when the port on which the address was learned is changed from tagged to untagged, the port is moved to another VLAN, or the VLAN containing the port is deleted. This means that a port that was a tagged member of a VLAN might continue to forward tagged packets to a destination address in a VLAN to which the port is no longer a member. Once the address has timed out, the port will stop forwarding the packets. The aging timer has default value of 300 seconds. Allied Telesyn strongly recommends that you periodically back up a switch s configuration via TFTP or Xmodem to an external file. The file can be used to restore a switch s configuration if the configuration is lost or you want to return a switch to an earlier configuration. PN Rev B 3 Allied Telesyn, Inc.

4 IGMP snooping might take twice the host/router age time to time out a host node that has stopped sending reports. A port trunk can contain up to four 10/100 Mbps ports. A port trunk cannot contain any tagged ports. The default setting for priority weight of 1:0 (high:low) cannot be change.
