1 Guadalajara Executive Briefing Center Storage Solution Portfolio IBM Archive Solution for Databases Structured data, such as databases, is growing at an average of 32% per year while 85% of production data is inactive. This session will describe the challenges and problems that growing databases put on businesses. It will describe how a database archive e solution can provide benefits to both the business and database administrators. It will describe the six steps involved in creating a database archive using the industry's leading database archive solution IBM Optim. This session includes a short demo that runs through all the concepts described in the presentation archiving data from DB2 and then restoring a subset to an Oracle DB. IBM Archive Solution for is the primary medium for how we communicate and by volume is expected to grow by 63%. This session will describe the challenges growing systems put on businesses along with common ways businesses try to deal with them. It will describe cribe the differences between backups and an effective archive. We will discuss the IBM archive solutions for Domino and Exchange along with ee discovery. This session will also show how the software and storage hardware work

2 together for a complete solution and describe some of IBM's service offerings around archive. A short demo of the key concepts described in the presentation of an archive solution using IBM Content Collector for both Domino and Exchange will be given. Introduction to IBM Archive Solutions Archive and retention is the number one storage growth market today. This session will describe factors driving the need for archive solutions, defining the difference between a backup and an archive solution. This session will discuss IBM's archive strategy and provide and overview of IBM's archive solutions portfolio including storage hardware, software and services along with the benefits for implementing them. Some of the solutions discussed will be , database and file archive along with retention hardware offerings that bring together disk and tape for optimal TCO. IBM Archive Solution for File Systems There are 2 primary forces driving archive, space management and data retention. Tivoli Storage Manager provides automated policy based Hierarchical Storage Management (HSM) for Windows and Unix systems. TSM also offers policy-based retention management for archive data. IBM System Storage Archive Manager offers enhanced retention management for environments with stringent regulatory requirements. IBM Content Collector for File Systems uses smart archiving and content de-duplication duplication capabilities to help further reduce IT infrastructure costs associated with the management and retention of file systems and other content. A short demo of TSM Space Management for Windows HSM and File Archiving using IBM Content Collector will be shown during the this session. IBM Storwize V7000 IBM Storwize V7000 is a virtualized storage system to complement virtualized server environments that provides unmatched performance, availability, advanced functions, and highly scalable capacity never seen before in midrange disk systems. IBM Storwize V7000 is a powerful midrange disk system that has been designed to be easy to use and enable rapid deployment without additional resources. Storwize V7000 is virtual storage that offers greater efficiency and flexibility through built-in SSD optimization and thin provisioning technologies. Storwize V7000 advanced functions also enable non-disruptive migration of data from existing storage, simplifying implementation and minimizing disruption to users. IBM Storwize V7000 also enables you to virtualize and reuse existing disk systems, supporting a greater potential return on investment (ROI). IBM System Storage N Series As enterprise storage requirements evolved from direct-attached to networked storage, many enterprises made significant investments in multiple storage architectures such as storage area network (SAN) and network-attached storage (NAS) to support the

3 different access methods required by various business solutions. The IBM System Storage N series includes a selection of features and functions designed to provide a comprehensive set of robust management and operational tools as well as high availability features, disaster recover, de-duplication duplication and data copy services for environments requiring either Internet Protocol (IP) or Fibre Channel (FC) attachment solutions. This session includes a short demo where a Windows share is configured and used to store data. IBM System Storage TS7650G ProtecTIER An option to maintain high-level data protection for growing amounts of enterprise data is to add more disk space to the data protection infrastructure. This is an approach which can quickly become cost prohibitive as data volumes continue to grow, while capital budgets for infrastructure do not. This session describes how the TS7650G ProtecTIER De-duplication Gateway solution can help organizations more efficiently protect their corporate data on disk-based storage while reducing the amount of space required for storage. With the implementation of this solution, customers can experience up to 25X storage capacity reduction. This session includes a short demo using the TSM Backup/Archive client and a standard TSM server. IBM Tape Technology Overview On May 21, 1952, IBM announced the IBM 726 Tape Unit with the IBM 701 Defense Calculator, marking the transition from punched card calculators to electronic computers. Since then, IBM has initiated many significant innovations novations in linear tape storage and has been an industry leader in setting standards for tape interchange. This session will describe the IBM tape innovations that have brought a wave of increased functionality, improved performance, reduced service time, decreased necessary floor space, and simplified tape path. The session will also include an overview of the main IBM Tape Library products including the new Long Term File System functionality. IBM XIV Storage System Technology IBM XIV Storage System is an innovative storage system designed to deliver performance, scalability, and ease of management while harnessing the high capacity and cost benefits of SATA or Near Line SAS drives. The system employs off- the-shelf products as opposed to traditional ional offerings, which need more expensive components that use proprietary designs. The system architecture ensures high performance with the full exploitation of all system components. Any I/O activity involving a specific logical volume in the system is always inherently handled by all spindles. This session include a demo of the

4 XIV main features such as Thin Provisioning, Snapshots, High Availability and Seamless Migration. SAN Volume Controller (SVC) Overview Storage virtualization addresses the incre increasing asing cost and complexity in data storage management by shifting storage management intelligence from individual SAN disk subsystem controllers into the network through a virtualization cluster of nodes. IBM SAN Volume Controller is an storage virtualizati virtualization on solution designed to simplify operations, improve utilization of assets, improve productivity, and to enable the IT infrastructure to be more flexible and responsive to changing business needs. This solution also Improves application availability by e enabling non-disruptive disruptive data migration between disparate disk storage. 5 possible customer experience at checkout for today s smarter shopper, including high volume scanning to speed checkout and electronic marketing for personalized promotions. The powerful POS application combines check-out support, electronic marketing, data maintenance, account management and other business processes in a versatile, cost-saving package. Capitalizing the Smarter Consumer The digital era is changing retailing. Customers are more connected than ever before. What they want, above all, is a personalized experience; they want retailers to know them. Technology is not the only force shaping shopper behavior. We surveyed 30,624 consumers in 13 countries to learn what factors are influencing today s smarter consumer. We delved deeper into the mind of the consumer to learn what they really think of when they shop. What we found is that traditional insight strategies for knowing consumers aren t enough. You have to look more broadly at their attitudes, who they listen to and who they are buying for to really "know them." Smarter retailing starts with the recognition that consumers are conducting a conversation many retailers know nothing about. To begin learning about how to listen and respond to today s smart digital consumer, come find out more as we unveil our findings from this valuable consumer survey.
