In addition, you will find details regarding the next steps you need to take to organise your training. 2 Local Bespoke Compression Therapy Study Days These study days are designed to allow you to pick and choose the lymphoedema focused training modules that your team would like included in a study day. You create your own local bespoke study day by tailoring it to meet the requirements of your local team. You decide the length of the training, the location and the date, as well as the attendees. You also have the confidence in knowing that the study day you are attending is directed entirely at your team s training needs. Here are some other points for you to consider: a wide selection of lymphoedema and vascular focused training modules the flexibility for YOU to pick and choose the modules to meet YOUR team s training needs you book the location for the study day so there are minimum travelling times we come to you! the training is in small groups (minimum 5 and maximum 20) the training is FREE! BSN medical provides: all the training materials for the practical modules a delegate pack for everyone attending a certificate for everyone attending (detailing the modules covered) lunch and refreshments In addition: the training is facilitated by experienced Clinical Nurse Specialists the training adheres to the International Lymphoedema Framework guidelines The following pages provide details of the BSN medical lymphoedema and vascular focused modules. 3 Lymphoedema and Vascular Focused Modules Module Number 1 Module Title The Management of Lymphoedema of the Lower Limb 2 Anatomy and Physiology 3 Clinical Manifestations of Oedema 4 Patient Assessment Mild to Moderate Chronic Uncomplicated Oedema Severe and Complicated Oedema Multi-Layer Lymphoedema Bandaging Theory Multi-Layer Lymphoedema Bandaging - Practical Module Summary For further information regarding this module, please contact your local BSN medical Compression Therapy Account Manager. To identify and explore the structures of the lymphatic system. Discover how this essential anatomy works under normal circumstances and how changes occur when oedema develops. Note: If you do not require this module, it is expected that you will have a good knowledge of the lymphatic system and its physiology, under normal and altered situations. An overview of the anatomical changes that occur when oedema develops. Guidance provided in identifying the important components that are related to the underpinning physiology. To increase knowledge and understanding of the essential components required to perform a full clinical assessment of a patient with oedema (covering all types of oedema development). To identify the stages of oedema in the mild to moderate uncomplicated oedema phase. Use recognised tools and subsequent treatment modalities for patients in this category. To identify the stages of oedema in the severe and complicated oedema phase. Use recognized tools and subsequent treatment modalities for patients in this category. An overview of the underpinning knowledge and theory in the equipment, approach and technique required in multi-layer lymphoedema bandaging for a patient with lymphoedema. A practical demonstration of multi-layer lymphoedema bandaging (MLLB), in accordance with the International Lymphoedema Framework guidelines, for both the upper and lower limbs. 4 Compression Therapy Theory Measuring for a JOBST Ready-to-Wear Compression Garment Measuring for a JOBST Elvarex Custom-Fit Garment Developing a Lymphoedema Service 13 Palliative Care 15 Obesity 16 Genital Oedema 19 Lymphoedema Overview An overview of the underpinning knowledge and theory in the value and the use of compression garments. To understand the importance of choosing the correct type of compression garment, including the style and compression level most appropriate for a patient with oedema. A practical demonstration in measuring for a JOBST Ready-to-Wear compression garment covering both the upper and lower limbs. Followed by a hands-on practical session in measuring for JOBST Ready-to- Wear garments. A practical demonstration in measuring for a JOBST Elvarex Custom-Fit, flat-knit garment covering both the upper and lower limb. Followed by a hands-on practical session in measuring for a JOBST Elvarex Custom-Fit garment. An opportunity to find out the basics of what is required in the development of a lymphoedema service in your area. This includes the essential information required when dealing with line managers, finance and succession planning. An overview of the treatment approach in managing lymphoedema in accordance with the model of Palliative Care in the workplace. How to adapt the basic components used to benefit the patients with advancing or palliative disease following a full clinical assessment. To understand obesity related oedema and how this impacts on the patient s treatment. Identify the options available to assist obese patients, recommended support pathways and appropriate garment. An overview of the anatomy of the genitourinary system, and the anatomical changes that occur when oedema develops. Guidance is provided on the identification and subsequent treatment options that are available for patients with genital oedema. This module provides a basic introduction to lymphoedema and the treatment of the condition. It includes the structure of the lymphatic system, the types of lymphoedema and the subsequent treatment options available for patients. An overview of arterial, venous, diabetic, vasculitic, malignant and mixed aetiology leg ulcers and the risk factors associated Venous and Arterial Leg 20 with these types of leg ulcers. Followed by Ulcers the assessment and related compression management of leg ulcers, in accordance with best practice. Note: Further modules will be added to this list. 5 What do I need to do next to organise my local bespoke study day?
