7 Hardware requirements Hardware CPU RAM Multiprocessor support Disk space for setup Disk volumes Network adapter Requirements X64-bit computer with Intel Pentium or Xeon family processors with Extended Memory 64 Technology (EM64T) architecture; AMD Opteron or Athlon family processors; other compatible processor(s) 512 megabytes (MB) minimum Windows Compute Cluster Server 2003 and Windows Server 2003, Standard x64 Edition, support up to four (4) processors per server. Windows Server 2003, Enterprise x64 Edition, supports up to eight (8) processors per server. 4 GB Head node. Two volumes a system volume and a data volume are required if RIS is used, because RIS data cannot reside on the system volume. Compute nodes. A single system volume is required. Redundant array of independent disks (RAID). RAID is supported but not required. Each node requires at least one network adapter. Additional network adapters can be used to set up a private network for the cluster or to set up a highspeed network for MS MPI.

22 Third Party Software Vendors June 9, Wolfram Research today announced the free availability of its new Cluster Integration Package, which enables affordable, out-of-the-box operation of grid Mathematica on Microsoft Windows Compute Cluster Server 2003 Computing software provider MathWorks, which said its flagship products will support the Microsoft HPC offering. MathWorks said its Distributed Computing Toolbox (DCT), which extends the firm's MATLAB family, will bring high performance computing to the personal and workgroup level.
