Potential Summer Bridge students are also required to take the NLN Nursing Accelerated Challenge Exam (NACE-I.) Dates/times for testing will be posted on the JCTC ADN webpage during the spring semester. Selection of applicants is based on highest pre/co-requisite GPA, and may also be influenced by NACE results. Applications for Articulation into NSG 206 depends on available space in the class. An LPN student admitted into a JCTC Associate Degree Nursing Program may be granted credit by one of the following options: KCTCS Rules of the Senate Section VI. Appendix D. a. Articulation: A student who has passed the National Council Licensure Examination PN (NCLEX-PN) and holds an active unrestricted license for practical/vocational nursing will be awarded credit for the first semester nursing course in a KCTCS Associate Degree Nursing Program. (The student will then complete the three remaining semesters of nursing.) Licensed Practical/ Vocational Nurses who graduated more than three (3) years prior to admission to a KCTCS Associate Degree Nursing Program must provide verification of current employment. Current employment is defined as one (1) full year of full-time employment as an LPN/LVN within the last three years. The employment in nursing shall be defined as patient/client contact and shall be verified by the employing agency/agencies using the standardized verification of employment form. The student must meet nursing admissions criteria as stated in the Rules of the Senate, Section IV & , and be accepted into the nursing program for credit to be awarded. b. Campus-based Summer Bridge Course: A student who has passed the National Council Licensure Examination PN (NCLEX-PN) and holds an active unrestricted license for practical/vocational nursing and successfully completes Nursing LPN Summer Bridge Course (NSG 196, an abbreviated nursing course) will be awarded credit for the second semester nursing course in a KCTCS Associate Degree Nursing Program (the student will then complete the two remaining semesters of nursing). 8 REQUESTS FOR TRANSFER FROM ANOTHER NURSING PROGRAM Students requesting to transfer into the JCTC Associate Degree Nursing Program from another nursing program, including credit for previous nursing coursework, must provide proof of passing grades in all previously attempted nursing courses. (Passing grade as established by the nursing program where the grade was earned.) Applicants previously admitted to another nursing program, and who have earned a failing grade in any nursing course will not be accepted for admission into the A.D.N. program at JCTC. Potential candidates must meet all admission requirements of the JCTC A.D.N. Nursing Program as outlined in this Program/Curriculum guide. If it has been more than three years since initial enrollment in the first nursing course in any registered nursing program, an applicant must repeat all nursing courses. Beginning summer 2015, Jefferson Community and Technical College will no longer conditionally admit transfer students; students will be required to submit ALL official, postsecondary transcripts to the Registrar s Office prior to enrollment at Jefferson Community and Technical College. JCTC will require official transcripts even if the student does not plan to use the coursework to satisfy the requirements for the Nursing Degree for the Nursing Program. Prospective students must also submit an online application to the College. This is a separate process from applying for the Nursing Program. Requirements: Three months prior to the expected date of enrollment: 1. Potential candidates must provide a written cover letter stating the reason for transfer, and anticipated placement within the program. 2. Proof of regional academic accreditation of any college(s) previously attended for which the student is requesting transfer credit. (Credit from proprietary, non-regionally accredited schools is not eligible for transfer credit.) 3. IN-formal transcripts from all previously attended colleges. At least 2 months prior to the anticipated entry date: Submit a Nursing Transfer Admission Packet, which includes: 4. Completed and signed application to the JCTC ADN program. 5. From the previous nursing program: overall nursing program curriculum plus individual course objectives, course outlines, syllabi, and skills/competency list from all nursing courses completed at the previous nursing program. Please note that there is no standard curriculum for nursing programs or nursing courses, so this information is crucial to establish compatibility of the previous nursing courses with those of JCTC and to determine how much, if any, nursing course credit can be granted to the student. 6. At least two letters of recommendation from the previously attended nursing program. The letters must be signed, dated, and printed on the school letterhead; one from the Nursing Program Director and one from a recent Clinical Instructor, indicating that the student is in good academic and financial standing. These may be sent directly to: Associate Degree Nursing Program Coordinator, Jefferson Community and Technical College, 109 E. Broadway- HSH 442-D, Louisville, KY Acceptance of any Transfer Student will be dependent upon available resources, comparability of previous nursing courses, vacancy in the receiving course, and results of a nursing pre-admission exam (NLN Pre-Admission Exam). This information may not be available until a few weeks before the beginning of any given semester. UPDATED Page 8

All three sections must be taken on the same assigned date. Each section has questions and the time allotted for the test is calculated at 1.3 minutes per question. Specific RN Pre-Admission exam study guide is available in the JCTC bookstore, as well as on the NLN website. It is essential that a student prepare for the exam; per NLN policy, registration for retesting is not permitted until 6 months after a previous exam date. Results can be printed immediately following the computer-based exam, or retrieved from the NLN website for up to one year after the exam, free of charge. A printed copy of the results must be attached to the application for Admission. Results are not sent to the school. Applicants for the JCTC Nursing Program may take this test at another college; available locations and dates (including JCTC s) can be found at for schools that require online registration.
