3 2 Millionth Volume celebration blog Fall 2009 Purpose: Promote the VCU Libraries 2 Millionth volume celebration. My role: In addition to serving on the 2 Millionth Volume committee, I designed this blog template and curated blog entries. blog/2mv

4 VCU Libraries Web Redesign Fall 2009 Purpose: Enhance the usability of the VCU Libraries website and promote access to collections and services. My role: Created the final design of the VCU Libraries homepage and second-level pages using results from usability studies conducted before my arrival at VCU.

5 VCU Libraries Learning Commons Summer 2010 Purpose: Promote the newly-constructed Learning Commons in Cabell Library. My role: Created web design using architectural renderings of the new space, created content. learningcommons

6 VCU Libraries Intranet homepage redesign Fall 2011 Purpose: Enhance the usability of the VCU Libraries staff intranet. My role: Worked with graduate student to implement intranet search; leveraged user feedback tools and web analytics data to redesign primary navigation. staff.library.vcu.edu (eid logon, only available to VCU Libraries staff)

7 VCU Libraries Search Fall 2011 Purpose: Implement, customize and optimize third party library search tool. My role: Served on the search implementation task force. Worked with stakeholders across VCU Libraries and used web analytics tools to develop search box designs for homepage and optimize layout of search results pages. search.library.vcu.edu

9 VCU Libraries Study Room Reservations Summer Purpose: Allow students to reserve study rooms online. My role: Installed and customized existing opensource software. Worked with developer to fix bugs, connect with VCU central logon service, and add customizations. Served as a point of contact for other institutions implementing the open-source software. rooms (VCU eid required)

10 VCU Libraries Digital Collections Fall 2010Purpose: Promote VCU Libraries unique digital collections. My role: Worked with developer and systems administrator to upgrade software from version 4 to 5 in 2010, then version 5 to 6 in Created prototype of design and added customizations. Oversaw work of designer to port customizations for new collections. Monitored and maintained digital collections software. dig.library.vcu.edu

11 Tompkins- McCaw Library homepage redesign Spring 2011 Purpose: Create a unique portal for Health Sciences Library users that elevates services from library liaisons. My role: Worked with hourly web designer and librarians at TML to redesign landing page. Leveraged analytics, user testing and iterative design practices to meet aggressive redesign schedule. tml

12 VCU Community Health Education Center redesign Spring 2012 Purpose: Update communications materials and promote the center in tandem with its tenth anniversary. My role: Managed web project. Worked with external web design firm, VCU Libraries representatives on both campuses, and VCU Creative Services to quickly design, develop, and create content for new CHEC website in two months. go.vcu.edu/chec

13 VCU Libraries Research Guides Summer Purpose: Create a portal into remotely hosted collections of research guides that blends seamlessly with the rest of the website. My role: Led small implementation team. Customized remotely-hosted site to reflect look and feel of local site. Worked with content creators to devise subject categories and standards for guide development and classification. Administered web tool, served as technical support, and enforced web standards. Served as point of contact for other institutions who had questions about how we implemented LibGuides. guides.library.vcu.edu

14 VCU Libraries Mobile Spring Purpose: Enhance mobile access to basic VCU Libraries web information. My role: Created, designed, developed, launched and updated the first iteration of the mobile website. In March 2011 directed the development and design of a mobileenabled room reservation system for both library locations. In 2012 worked to optimize new VCU Libraries search for mobile. m.library.vcu.edu

15 Tools and Gadgets Purpose: Create tools to help researchers use VCU Libraries collections. My role: Created and maintained page; created original code or modified existing code for research bookmarklets, RSS feeds and gadgets, and links to mobile tools sections. services/gadgets

16 CONTENTdm2 Flickr Fall 2011 Purpose: Develop a tool that allows automated uploading of content from a library image repository to the Flickr photo sharing service. My role: Drafted project requirements and specifications for graduate student to design, develop, and open-source the tool. Provide ongoing support. code.google.com/p/ contentdm2flickr

18 VCU Faculty Senate web redesign Fall 2011 Purpose: Update the Faculty Senate website and make it easier to distribute content management. My role: Worked with Faculty Senate leaders to implement and migrate the new website in VCU s WordPress. Collaborated with communications team to develop a member directory of faculty senators. du

19 VCU First Novelist Award 2011 Purpose: Update and professionalize the look and feel of the First Novelist website. My role: Managed web project. Worked with contacts in VCU Libraries and the VCU English Department to define specifications for design. Oversaw work of a designer to develop web template and place into content management system. u

20 VCU Southern Film Festival 2011 Purpose: Create web presence for new VCU Film Festival. Allow distributed editing of content. My role: Served on VCU Southern Film Festival Committee. Used VCU s WordPress system to design, build, and administer new website. go.vcu.edu/ southernfilmfestival

21 VCU Office of Diversity Purpose: Update and maintain Office of Diversity website during reorganization. My role: Worked with small committee to keep website up-to-date. Worked with existing web design to add slideshow, prune and refresh content.
