7 2. MUSIC GALLERY U DEŽMÁRA Keď jeden z najlepších slovenských bubeníkov vezme do rúk klub, nemôže to dopadnúť inak ako hudobne. Funk, rock, jazzrock a občas aj blues v Music Gallery u Dežmára pod vedením Martina Valihoru sa hráva často a nahlas, pričom spolu s prvotriednymi lokálnymi hráčmi tu šancu dostávajú aj mladé nevycválané kapely. Valihora zároveň využíva svoje bohaté hudobné kontakty a občas pritiahne na pódium niekoho spoza hraníc našej republiky. Klub je rozľahlý, s priestormi na prízemí, poschodí aj v podzemí, plus príjemná záhrada v outdoore. Nečakajte však žiadny luxus s bielymi obrusmi Dežmár je vprvom rade krčma a okrem kvalitnej hudobnej produkcie tu k pivu dostanete napríklad aj klobásu s baraními rohmi. Len vedzte, že popíjate bok po boku so špičkou slovenskej hudobnej scény. When one of Slovakia s best drummers decides to run a club, the outcome can t be anything but a musical gem offering funk, rock, jazz-rock and sometimes blues. Martin Valihora created an unpretentious concert venue, where first-class musicians proudly dictate the sound and young talented bands follow suit. Martin Valihora uses (quite effectively) his name and talent to lure important players from near and far, for the hearing pleasure of the discerning crowds. The club itself is spacious, with several separate rooms, in addition to a charming outdoor garden. Don t expect white tablecloths or fancy silverware though; Dežmár is, first and foremost, a down-to-earth watering hole for undemanding patrons. Great jazz or blues will be neatly complemented with cold beer and some no-nonsense Slovak food (sausages included). 8 3. KONTAKT Novootvorený klub Kontakt priniesol trochu alternatívy do inak vyglančeného centra mesta a medzi úhľadnými teraskami okolitých podnikov sa vyníma ako biela vrana. Alebo skôr čierna ovca rodiny. Mladí a draví majitelia prišli s nesmierne ambicióznym multikonceptom, ktorý nič neobišiel: hudba, pitie, jedlo, umenie, prednášky, workshopy, party, filmy, pričom zaostrené je na zábavu a oddych pre dospelých aj deti. Kontakt chce byť skutočným kultúrnym centrom a púta pozornosť aj lodným kontajnerom, ktorý si kontaktisti drzo vyložili priamo pred dvere a predĺžili tak svoje priestory o improvizované detské ihrisko. Cool a avantgardná mládež Kontakt okamžite poctila svojou priazňou a cez víkendy sa tu tvrdo žúruje. Hudba všakovaká, najmä elektronická menovite mimo hlavný prúd. The recently opened Kontakt club brought a taste of the alternative to the city centre s (mostly) polished elegance, and became a white crow (or black sheep if you like) among the neatly decorated terraces of near-by places. The young enthusiastic owners came up with an ambitious, artsy, cross-genre concept: the club unites music, drinks, food, art, workshops, parties and gallery exhibitions. Its focus is not only on fun for adults, but includes their offspring as well. Kontakt, aspiring to become a true cultural hub in town, both attracts and infuriates people with its boldly colored ship container, cheekily placed in front of the club. Kontakt has turned it into a playground where kids can run wild and free while their parents sip coffee or wine. For some this venue is a little too hip, but the cool and avant-garde youths annexed Kontakt right away, and they party hard over the weekends. 9 4. TRAFO MUSIC BAR Notoricky známa diskotéka Trafo music club sa nachádza v podzemí historického Erdődyho paláca z 18. storočia, s funkčnou trafo stanicou priamo v interiéri klubu. Ceny drinkov sú nastavené vyššie ako bratislavský priemer, no barmani sú v remesle celkom slušne podkutí, takže vám pravdepodobne bude chutiť. V tomto podniku majú dámy spravidla vstup lacnejší ako páni, a to dokonca viac ako o polovicu. Hudba je zameraná na komerčný house, hip-hop a r n b, hrávajú pomerne známi lokálni DJi. Skalných fanúšikov Trafa spoznáte podľa výdatného mejkapu (ženy), mohutných svalov (muži) a komba solárium plus mnohé plastické operácie (muži i ženy). Nenechajte sa však odradiť, pretože Trafo sa skutočne vie zabávať a okolo polnoci už temperamentné osadenstvo radostne a svorne poskakuje ako jedno telo, a zaručene tu neuvidíte žiadnu zamračenú tvár (čo ale samozrejme môže byť aj tým botoxom). Trafo music club is based in the historic underground premises of the 18th century Erdody s Palace. The famous local disco is well known for its peculiar interior centrepiece; a working power transformer that gave the joint its name. Prices are set a tad higher than in most Bratislava bars, but the bartenders are skilled and their cocktails are worth the price tag. Ladies get in for less than half the price of gentlemen s entrance fee and (mostly) local DJs play mainstream house, hip-hop or r n b. You ll easily spot the regulars of the club by generously applied make-up (women), bulky physiques (men) and the timeless combo of fake tans and loads of cosmetic surgery (both sexes). RIO Rio je diskotéka ako sa patrí: s kilami mejkapu, lodičkami a odhalenými hruďami, chodí sa sem piť (v ponuke je 150 rôznych cocktailov), tancovať a samozrejme bezostyšne baliť príslušníkov opačného pohlavia. Krásnych žien a zhovorčivých, zábavychtivých turistov je tu vždy dostatok. Klientela je tu pekne medzinárodná, diskogule blýskavé, sukne nebezpečne krátke a tanečný parket malý, no živý. Hudba patrí skôr k tanečnému mainstreamu, takže sem pokojne môžete vziať aj konzervatívnejších kamarátov. Na svoje si prídu aj milovníci mohutných stejkov, keďže Rio má aj elegantný dining room s (dosť vysoko nacenenou) argentínskou kuchyňou a dobrým vínom, takže noc môžete začať poriadnou výživnou večerou. Reštaurácia má aj príjemnú celoročnú terasu, využiteľnú v teplejších mesiacoch na vyvetranie po tancovačke. Rio is as disco as it gets with tons of make-up, stilettos and men in deep V- neck cuts, so no meticulously worked out chest muscle goes unnoticed. Rio is a cocktail place; too, with a wide selection of over 150 concoctions. Standard dance music reigns here and people come first and foremost to flirt (and more). There s no shortage of cute girls or handsome men and tourists are naturally fond of this club s sexy vibe. International clientele, shiny disco balls, dangerously short skirts and bright dance floor define this spot. The music played is middle of the road; it won t offend even 40-somethings and does not require special dancing skills. Steak and meat lovers will love Rio s elegant but fairly pricey dining room upstairs, famed for Argentinian cuisine and some really tasty wines. 11 6. LE CLUB Le Club ponúka upscale diskotékový zážitok dospelej klientele, ktorá si okrem ľahko počúvateľnej hudby potrpí aj na kvalitu drinkov, elegantný dekor a promptný servis. O poriadok sa starajú mohutní vyhadzovači a môžete tu občas stretnúť miestnu smotánku. Cocktaily sú na úrovni a tak sú aj nacenené. 12 7. THE CLUB The Club posunul latku bratislavských diskoték poriadne vysoko. Podnik sa nachádza v luxusných priestoroch hotela Inn v Bratislave, má desať VIP boxov, blýskavé lustre, zvodné gogo tanečnice a biele kožené sedenie. Klub nehostí iba bratislavských DJov za gramcami sa tu už ukázali aj zahraniční hudobníci, ale tiež DJi skutočne svetového charakteru. Ak si potrpíte na zábavu plnú prepychu a krásnych, sporo odetých žien a radi by ste vyvenčili svoje nové Versace tričko, zamierte cez víkend do The Clubu. 13 8. KC DUNAJ Slovenskí hipsteri našli pre svoje vytočené fúzy a tričká s ironickými nápismi útočisko v budove legendárneho obchodného domu z čias bývalého režimu. Húfne sa tu zbiehajú nielen cez víkendy, ale aj cez týždeň, kedy sa v KC Dunaj premietajú filmy, diskutujú hip témy a samozrejme čapuje (originálny slovenský) cider. Víkendové večery patria koncertom a žúrom, ktoré žánrovo siahajú od starých rokenrolov cez cutting edge elektroniku až po nesmierne populárne Balkan či swing nights, počas ktorých sa klub mení na retro tančiareň zo začiatku minulého storočia (čomu sa mimoriadne tešia najmä hostia, ktorí sa radi príslušne nahodia). Piatky aj soboty sa po polnoci do preplneného klubu tradične stojí šóra a dnu sa dostanete len výmenou za niekoho, kto odchádza. Klientela býva zvyčajne veľmi mladá, medzinárodná a priateľská a mohutne sa zgrupuje na slávnej terase s krásnym výhľadom (a možnosťou fajčiť). Večer v Dunaji vás určite nezruinuje, ceny sú tu študentské. Na bare nehľadajte žiadnu serióznu mixológiu, zato sa pripravte na dlhé-predlhé čakanie na drink. Slovak hipsters found a second home for their moustaches and cynical t-shirts inside a legendary shopping mall from the bygone Communist era. Weekends and sometimes even week nights attract the local (and international) indie clientele, flocking to the cultural centre in herds. Expect an eclectic choice of music, DJs, concerts, movie screenings, discussions and festivals, all accompanied with fairly tasty drinks (including cider). An evening here won t ruin you; prices can perfectly accommodate students wallets. Do not expect sophisticated drinks mixology and be ready for very, very long lines at the bar. Weekend evenings are dedicated to concerts and parties: old rock and roll sounds, crooning from vinyl records, cutting edge electronic beats, the incredibly popular Balkan music or swing nights that turn the place into a cultured old school dancing venue from the early 19 hundreds, with accordingly dressed visitors, as a cherry on top. Fridays and Saturdays mean a lengthy wait at the gates. NU SPIRIT CLUB Ak sa chcete vyhnúť čoraz komerčnejšej atmosfére nočnej Bratislavy a stráviť čas s ľudmi, ktorí majú rovnaký pohľad na svet ako vy, tak oba podniky fungujúce pod brandom Nu Spirit sú tu práve pre vás. 15 10. NU SPIRIT BAR Nu Spirit Bar na Medenej 16 je priestor kde to všetko v roku 2001 začalo. Táto bývalá pivnica s kapacitou 60 ľudí ponúka tú istú atmosféru ako jej mladší a väčší brat Nu Spirit Club (pozri predošlú stranu), od ktorého sa nachádza dve minúty pešo, ale v omnoho intímnejšom prostredí. Bar je otvorený sedem dní v týždni do skorého rána a za mixpultom vždy nájdete niektorého z top domácich DJov. Je to skutočné útočisko pre všetkých, ktorí aj v hudbe hľadajú kvalitu, undergroundové hniezdo, ktoré však ponúka overgroundový komfort. 16 11. ATELIÉR BABYLON Čoraz populárnejší Ateliér Babylon v priestoroch dávno zrušeného kina spája uvoľnenosť hudobného klubu s eleganciou divadla a trochou prívetivého oldschool šarmu. Oplatí sa ho navštíviť najmä v chladných mesiacoch, kedy organizátori vyberú to najlepšie z domácej, no tiež zahraničnej hudobnej scény. Pri komornejších koncertoch sa nesedí klasicky v radoch, ale okolo stolíkov, takže si môžete kultúrny zážitok vychutnávať spolu s drinkom zo starobylého baru. Ponuka baru je skromná, no lacná. 17 12. BEABOUT Podnik pre všetkých, ktorí sa necítia doma v žiadnej subkultúre. Aj normálni ľudia sa chcú občas baviť! Cez deň chladivá podzemná reštaurácia s klasickou americkou kuchyňou sa po zotmení mení na príjemný night club s uvoľnenou atmosférou a hlučnou zábavou. Okrem mainstreamovo tanečných akcií tu občas hrávajú menej známe miestne kapely, popri menšom tanečnom parkete sú v Beabout k dispozícii aj veľkorysé boxy na sedenie pre väčšie skupiny. Cez víkend býva otvorené do skorých ranných hodín. Môže sa však stať, že večer bude pokojnejší, takže radšej príďte s vlastnou partiou a oc si poriadne užijete. 24 19. LOFT Budova Loftu slúžila kedysi na výrobné účely, čo prezradí jej drsný, industriálny feel. Majitelia však zapojili šikovné ruky dizajnérov a vytvorili miesto, z ktorého sála bohémska aj undergroundová atmosféra zároveň. Pravidelne tu vystupujú zaujímavé hviezdy svetovej scény, pričom Loft sa žánrovo príliš neobmedzuje a servíruje akcie širokého záberu. A je úplne jedno, v čom prídete, v Lofte vyzerá každý k svetu. 25 20. SUBLCUB Subclub je naozajstný underground. Patrí ku kultovým bratislavským klubom a medzi DJmi a tanečnou bandou je známy aj za hranicami krajiny. Napríklad aj preto, že je zabudovaný v hradnej skale, pôvodne slúžil ako protiatómový kryt a tancovať sem chodili už mamy a tatkovia súčasného osadenstva. Aj keď sa podnik celé roky oficiálne volá inak, mnohí jeho (zarytí) návštevníci mu dodnes nepovedia inak ako Účko. Do útrob hradnej skaly sa ide neelegantne, v štekloch vám to pôjde horšie, najmä ak je blatisto. A vôbec, keď idete do Účka, štekle nechajte doma. Akcie sú prevažne tanečné (drum n bass, dupstep, techno), občas sa vyskytne nejaký ten dancehall alebo reggae, plus pravidelné indie nights. PLÁŽ POD UFOM Otvorená len v teplejších mesiacoch, s dobrým jedlom, efektívnym personálom a slušným soundsystémom Pláž pod Ufom zaslúžene patrí medzi obľúbené miesta na žúry pod holým nebom, hoci je absolútne vydaná všanc poveternostným vplyvom a občas sa nejaká tá párty zruší tesne pred štartom. Tancovačky tu bývajú krásne uvoľnené, s prázdninovou atmosférou tropického ostrova. Okrem toho je MMC sídlom elektrotanečných akcií ako Special Place či UKF dubstep. Klub žije najmä v chladnejších mesiacoch, pretože jeho priestory sa obmedzujú na vnútrajšok. Interiér je jednoduchý a funkčný, chodí sa sem najmä na koncerty na stojáka (a tancováka). Personál je pomerne promptný, no za pivo v plastovom pohári si priplatíte vratnú zálohu. Ak vo vás bdie duša rockera a holdujete metalu, punkrocku, gitarovým rifom či bigbeatu, MMC určite neobíďte; nezriedka tu hrávajú aj známe svetové kapely. The inconspicuous building within walking distance from the central train station is a sanctuary of hard-rock, punk and all sorts of metal, plus occasional series of popular electro parties such as Special Place or UKF DubStep. Forget fancy décor or even chairs for that matter; this place is designed for standing only (or dancing only, if that s more your thing). Rockový podnik na rohu Šancovej a Žilinskej ulice je ideálnym miestom pre fajnšmekrov skutočne tvrdej hudby. Vypočuť si tu môžete punk, grind, metal, trashmetal, deathmetal a iné metaly, pričom po živých koncertoch spravidla nasleduje metalová diskotéka.
