In partnership with the USEF, UC Davis Extension has developed this program to expand the opportunities for those engaged in the exciting field of equestrian sport. Gain practical knowledge that matters Examine the elements involved in designing and managing successful horse shows from securing licensing through execution and evaluation. Explore the planning and logistics processes for equestrian competitions. Learn about safety and risk management, venue and facilities management, marketing and public relations, conflict resolution and working within the regulatory requirements of the governing bodies of equestrian sport. Gain practical experience in equine event management as an intern with a USEF-recognized horse show. Designed for professionals like you This program benefits volunteer show managers at the grassroots level, those hoping to enter the field and professionals already involved in equestrian sport who wish to improve the quality of their events. The program covers all USEF requirements for certification of competitions. Professional Concentration Requirements Courses may be taken individually or as part of the Professional Concentration. Tuition for the entire Professional Concentration in Equine Event Management is $1,995. The Professional Concentration application fee ($45) is not included in the tuition fee. Competition Management: Horse Show Management 3 quarter units academic credit, X The United States Equestrian Federation is the governing body for equestrian sport in the U.S. and represents 28 breeds and disciplines. In this first-ever online course, you will examine the elements involved in designing and managing successful horse shows from securing licensing through execution and evaluation. Explore the planning and logistics processes for equestrian competitions. Learn about safety and risk management, venue and facilities management, marketing and public relations, conflict resolution and working within the regulatory requirements of the governing bodies of equestrian sport. Competition Management: Horse Show Secretary 2 quarter units academic credit, X This course examines the role of horse show secretary a position that is critical to running a successful show. Horse show secretaries are responsible for the planning and operation of shows and are directly responsible for the show s success as well as the accurate placement and ranking of athletes. This course examines the cycle of the horse show secretary s role from creating show bills and prize lists to entries and reporting. Learn to work with governing bodies, interpret various sets of rules and manage people within USEF guidelines.

5 Competition Management Equine Event Management Internship 3 quarter units academic credit, X Gain practical experience in equine event management. Intern with a USEF-recognized horse show and apply what you ve learned in either the Horse Show Management or the Horse Show Secretary course.
