2 POLICY FOR ADMISSION TO EAST TENNESSEE STATE UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF BUSINESS UNDERGRADUATE MAJORS 1. Prior to completing 60 semester credit hours, each student planning to pursue a BBA degree major in the college will be classified as a pre-business student. 2. Each student wishing to pursue the BBA degree in business must apply for admission to a business major upon completion of 60 semester credit hours. Qualified students who do not apply for a specific major will be assigned a major in Economics with an option in General Business and Economics. 3. After completing 60 semester credit hours, each student who applies for a major will be admitted if the following requirements are met: a) The student must have attained a minimum over all grade point average of: Catalog to present for all majors OR Prior to Catalog 2.5 for Accountancy majors and 2.0 for all other business majors. b) The following English composition and mathematics courses of the General Education Requirement must have been successfully completed: English Critical Reading/Expository Writing English Critical Thinking/Argumentation Mathematics Probability and Statistics c) Students must complete the following six business courses with a minimum grade of C or better in each course: Accounting Principles of Accounting I Accounting Principles of Accounting II Economics Macroeconomics Economics Microeconomics Economics Quantitative Methods I Economics Quantitative Methods II 4. All students must declare their major in business by the completion of 75 credit hours. Students who fail to declare their major at this time will be required to meet with a review board to determine their eligibility to remain a pre-business major. 5. These admission standards apply to ETSU students seeking to change from a non-business to a business major, to students seeking to transfer from other institutions, and to students readmitted to ETSU. 6. 8 ETSU General Management and Marketing Management Online Cohort Programs Complete your AA or AS at your community college and get your BBA in General Management or Marketing Management at ETSU thru the two-year Cohort Program. The General Management and Marketing Management cohorts begin in Fall 2014 and run thru Spring/Summer Apply to ETSU now. Send a copy of your transcripts to ETSU Admissions. Send an unofficial copy of your transcripts to Jennifer Douglas or Tim Dills, at or in order for us to work up your checksheet and see if you re eligible for the cohort or if you need to complete courses priorto beginning the program. Please specify which major you plan to pursue. You must have an overall GPA of 2.5 or better to begin the program and declare you major and must be able to declare either your General Management or Marketing Management major by the end of Fall To declare your major you must complete ENGL 1010/1020 and MATH 1530; the equivalent classes for these business courses must also be completed(econ 2210/2220, ACCT 2010/2020, and ECON 2070/2080) must be completed at the community college or by the end of Fall 2014 at ETSU. Grades of C or better are required in these courses. This may require taking one or more summer classes at ETSU. You must have at least 50 hours at a four-year institutionfor your degree. If all your transfer hours are from a community college, you mayrequire additional hours beyond what is listed on the two-year schedule.
