1 Welcome to the 10 th Annual Alaska Summer Solstice Flyball Tourneys! Hosted by Alaska Dogs Gone Wild Thank you for choosing to participate in our tournaments! We are looking forward to four fun days of racing at the Alaska State Fairgrounds. Competition-related information Dates / location: We are hosting two separate two-day tournaments on June and June 20-21, 2015 at the Alaska State Fairgrounds in Palmer, AK (see the Directions on page 3). Depending on the weather during the week and/or the forecast for the weekend, we may also race on the make-up rain day, which is Friday June 19. With so much daylight this time of year, we can also race almost any time during the day or night depending on the availability and preference of the competitors. Tournament Director: Cindy Rabe Regional Director: Stacy Smith Head Judge: Curtis Smith Seed chart, tournament format, and racing schedule: Copies of our approved seed chart, format, and racing schedule are included at the end of this packet. We will also post copies of the racing schedule on-site. Times: Racing will take place at regular intervals beginning at 10:00 AM during the first tourney and 9:30 AM during second tourney. Measuring will start at 9:15 AM and 8:45 AM respectively. Warm-ups will be 2-minutes. There will also be a short meeting on the first day of each tourney that will take place minutes before racing begins. C.2 time sheet forms: We will have printed pre-filled time sheets based on the information submitted by each club.
2 Venue information Rental area: We have rented the portion of the Alaska State Fairgrounds between the Plaza (represented by a large "i" on the map, see page 4) and the Purple Gate including the restroom next to the Borealis Theater. We plan to start setting up at 1 PM on Tuesday, June 16 (weather-dependent). Pools for dogs: We will have wading pools available for the dogs to use since it can get downright hot in Alaska this time of year. Dummy locking gate: Competitors are allowed to park within the gated area of the tourney site, but please dummy lock the drive-through gate since our contract with the Alaska State Fairgrounds specifies that spectators are not allowed to drive onto the grounds. Alaska State Fairgrounds rules: Please remain within our rented portion of the grounds (i.e., the Purple Trail area). Please pick up after your dogs. We will provide numerous trash receptacles scattered around the grounds with poop bags nearby. No bicycles, rollerblades, scooters, or skateboards are allowed on the Fairgrounds from 8 AM - 5 PM on weekdays. No alcoholic beverages are allowed on the grounds; although, policing this particular rule is a different matter. Camping information Overnight camping and RV parking will be available within our rental area at the tourney site. The fees are $15/night for RVs and $10/night for tent camping payable to ADGW. Electrical hookups are available, but there are no sewer or water hookups. Water and restrooms are available on the grounds. See page 5 for information on shower locations and where to find RV dump stations. Food Complimentary coffee will be available on-site throughout each day. Snacks and drinks will be available for a donation. There are also several fast food options in both Palmer and Wasilla. Social/recreational stuff Summer Solstice BBQ: After racing is done on Wednesday (June 17), we will have a BBQ at the tourney site. We hope everyone can make it! For those participants who are from an Alaska club, please bring a dish to share. For those of you visiting from out-ofstate, we will have extra food on hand. So, there is no need to bring a dish. You already spent enough money just getting to Alaska. Open to suggestions!: We are, of course, open to suggestions for other tourney-related social activities for either this year's event or perhaps for future tourneys. 2
