2 Background Hillsborough County Aviation Authority Board Policy 770: Sustainability Management Board currently consists of Mayor of Tampa, Hillsborough County Commissioner, and three gubernatorial appointees September 2010-Prepared Draft Sustainable Design Manual In-house September 2012 TPA received $608,000 grant from FAA June 2013 Board Award to Ricondo & Associates September 2014 Final Reports 2
3 What is sustainability to TPA? Flexible program that balances financial, social, and environmental opportunities. Considers life cycle costs and economic development when making investments and purchases. Focuses on health and wellness of staff and tenants and building community partnerships. Protects the environment. People Planet Prosperity Triple Bottom Line 3
4 Past Successes People Planet Prosperity 2013 Volunteer Ambassador Program has 145 volunteers totaling 22,000 hours of service. Used nearly 70 million gallons of reclaimed water in first full year (2012) versus using potable water. Total Annual Economic Output = $7 Billion Gold Member of Tampa Bay Clean Cities Coalition (recently designated by the US Department of Energy) Nearly 40% of vehicle fleet is alternatively fueled vehicles. Saved over 335K gallons of gasoline in first full year of CNG Station operation in Donated $98K to United Way from 5K on the Runway and Employee Donations in 2014 Installed 4 electric vehicle charging stations. Retrofit interior and exterior lighting to more efficient fixtures. Airport Watch Program to promote safety and security. Recycle Florida Today awarded 2009 Outstanding Partnership Award to TPA and City of Tampa. Installed sensors on baggage system to save energy during idle periods. Wellness programs have resulted in employee weight loss of over 1,800 lbs. Finalist for Sustainable Florida s 2013 Partnership Award with Clean Energy. Established partnerships with local organizations to promote international flights. 4

Incorporate life-cycle cost analyses into capital project decision-making. Conduct a resiliency assessment. Develop a sustainable fleet management program. Continue to replace/retrofit escalators in Main Terminal with variable speed controllers. Partner with regional and industry organizations to further the mutual pursuit of sustainability. Expand recycling program to areas not currently covered. Expand use of daylight harvesting controls that dim/turn off lighting in appropriate daylight conditions. 12
