2 Counseling News In Process: Freshman parents: Counselors visited all ninth grade English classes on November 30 and December 1 to complete Educational Development Plans (EDPs) with freshman students. Students completed a personality assessment survey linked to the Myers-Briggs Personality Inventory. The results of the survey produced a list of suggested college majors and careers based on the student's preferences and strengths. Students also set short and long term goals for themselves along with a plan of action to achieve these goals. Parents, encourage your freshman student to share with you the introduction to Naviance/Family Connect letter they received from the counselors. Junior parents: Counselors have been meeting with juniors during advisory to review the College handbook. All juniors should have received a purple College Handbook from their counselor over the past couple of weeks. Please encourage your junior to share this invaluable college planning tool with you. Upcoming: Seniors: Financial Aid Night is Tuesday, December 8, at 6:30 p.m. at the old Lahser High School campus auditorium, 3456 Lahser Rd. Sophomore parents: Counselors will visit tenth grade English and Social Studies classes on December, 15, 16, and 18, to complete/update Educational Development Plans (EDPs) with sophomore students. If you have been informed by a college that you need to send your 1st quarter grades, please stop by the records office (located inside the counseling center) now and sign up on the clipboard to have your grades sent. Please note, this is different than a college requesting your mid-year grades that s your 1st semester grades which won t be available until early February. Come back to the records office sometime in December or January to sign up to request your mid-year grades to be sent to colleges, if needed. Please see your counselor if you have any questions.
3 CRC News All seniors will fill out and file the FAFSA form with their parents starting on January 1, The deadline for Michigan residents is March 1, Whether you are looking for private scholarships or merit scholarships from your admitted college you will need to complete the FAFSA form. The Wayne State University College of Nursing is pleased to announce a new pathway to a nursing career: the B.S.N. for Freshmen. Admission is competitive and requirements include a 3.0 GPA, a minimum score of 22 on the ACT and/or 990 on the SAT, a brief essay and documentation of at least 10 hours of community service. Students and parents are invited to attend an information meeting at 6:30 p.m. in Room 21 of the Cohn Building on Monday, December 14. Come early and tour the College of Nursing Simulation Lab, which will be open from 5-6:30 p.m. Interested students should apply to Wayne State University now; the secondary College of Nursing application will be available in December.
