3 Purpose of the Local Liaison Committee The Group is established for the sole purpose of providing a good neighbour liaison during the construction phase of Bexhill to Hastings Link Road
4 BHLR Project Details Scheme length = 5.6km (3.5 miles approx) Single carriageway road with extensive landscaping and greenway A259 Belle Hill, Bexhill to B2092 Queensway, Hastings 1 Pedestrian Underpass 1Bridge over Railway 18 Other Bridges 1.0 Million m 3 Earthworks cut/fill
5 The purpose of the BHLR Regeneration of the most deprived area of the South East Opening up development land in North East Bexhill for new housing and a 50,000 sq m business park creating hundreds of jobs for the area Reducing traffic congestion along the A259 and other local roads Improving bus reliability along the A259 Reducing the number of accidents and improving air quality

May 2015: Anticipated completion date Key activities to date: Construction of haul route to provide access through the site Site clearance including demolition of properties on London Road Unexploded Ordinates (UXO) surveys Construction of site compound
9 Key activities continued: Diversion of services e.g. BT, Southern Gas Networks, UK Power Networks Creation of new habitats and translocation of protected species Archaeological investigations Ground treatment: Drainage blanket / piling mat Vertical band drains Controlled modulus columns Earthworks cut and fill, topsoil strip, temporary drainage, permanent flood attenuation Drainage works at the Bexhill end of the scheme Demolition of Woodsgate Park Bridge
10 Upcoming activities: Woodsgate Bridge, complete the temporary works, lay the foundations for the east abutment base and commence RC works on abutments Commence Chapel Path Underpass construction Continue drainage works from ch Commence the outstanding earthworks ch Continue archaeology at sites 10, 11, 15 Complete the ground treatment drainage mats and working platforms at Watermill & Powdermill Complete the vertical band drains at Decoy Pond, install the monitoring instrumentation and commence filling
