3 Entry Requirements for Post Graduate Diploma/ MSc in Nursing Entry requirements are as follows:- Completion of an extended curriculum vitae (CV), according to the Guidance Notes and Profoma (attached). The extended CV will be used by the Programme Leader to discuss the entry of the students to the programme. The PGDip/MSc in Nursing programme will prepare you to register with the NMC as registered Adult, Mental health, Learning Disabilities or Child Nurse and to complete a master s qualification in 2 years. This programme will provide you with opportunity to build and develop upon your previous learning experiences. The programme recognises that as a graduate you will bring with you a range of attributes, these include not only expertise in your subject, but also the ability to manage your own learning, including making use of sources of evidence to make judgments, which is central to 21st century nursing. As a graduate you will have research activity proficiency and an ability to communicate information, ideas, problems and solutions to a range of audiences, all these attributes make you ideally suited to undertaking an exciting but challenging pre-registration nursing programme. This programme has been designed to enable you to transfer your previous leaning and integrate this will the specific knowledge and skills of nursing. This extended CV will allow you the opportunity to evidence how the graduate skills you have already developed are transferable to healthcare. Within the extended CV you will need to demonstrate how your existing skills meet the following level 6 learning outcomes. Please note that the numbering and lettering within the brackets refer to the Nursing and Midwifery Councils Standards of Proficiency. These are the learning outcomes against which you will need to demonstrate relevant knowledge and understanding to allow you to Apel into the programme 1. Apply methods and techniques to review, consolidate, extend and apply knowledge and understanding to initiate and implement projects 2. Demonstrate self awareness and ability to critically reflect upon own strengths and weaknesses in the identification of learning needs. (NMC SOP 1c, 1g, 16b) 3. Critically evaluate and reflect upon the development of key skills and their application to lifelong learning (NMC SOP 15, 15a, O, O1, O2, O3) 4. Demonstrate appropriate and effective interpersonal and communication skills with a variety of people and to convey both orally and in writing information, ideas, problems and solutions.. (NMC SOP 4a, 4b,4d, D1) 5. Contribute to creating a conducive learning environment and reflect critically on their role within this environment. (NMC SOP Q1, Q2) FHHS

5 Guidelines for compiling an extended CV to gain credit for prior learning and prior experiential learning. 1. Introduction These guidelines are designed to assist you in the actual process of identifying your significant learning experiences,. Thought needs to be given about all the experiences which may have contributed to your development and as such will accredit you with acceptance onto the programme. Credit will be given for learning and competence An extended CV (within this context) is taken to mean the collection of evidence you compile in order to identify the learning that you have acquired from prior experiences and or formal courses. Please submit your extended CV in electronic format to Ramona Minette Admissions Tutor at : Ramona.minette@uwl.ac.uk 2. Guidance on Compiling the Extended CV These guidelines are designed to assist you in the process of completing your extended CV. A template has been provided for you on page 5 which will enable you to provide relevant quality evidence against the stated learning outcomes. Against each of the learning outcomes you will be expected to reflect upon your experiences and or prior learning in order to show how your skills and knowledge meet each of the six learning outcomes. Use a maximum of 350 words for each learning outcome.
