5 Evidence-Based Hub for Prevention Practice in Rural & Appalachian Communities Purpose of this funding is to support ONE entity to coordinate and facilitate evidence-based prevention practice for rural and Appalachian populations Develop an infrastructure that is culturally competent Coordinate training, technical assistance, coaching, supervision, planning and mini-grant opportunities 4/15/2015 5

6 Eligible Applicants ADAMHS/CMH/ADAS Boards, Providers, Coalitions, Local Governments, Faith-Based Organizations, Educational Entities, Institutes of Higher Education Funding Range First year of funding up to $200,000 Subsequent years of funding up to $125,000 Grant Period Initially awarded for one year period Renewable for 3 subsequent fiscal years 4/15/2015 6

7 Partnerships for Success (PFS ) Mentor Collaboratives Purpose of this funding is to support up to 6 previous SPF SIG sub-recipients to provide mentoring/coaching and support to high need Appalachian/rural projects Provide training, technical assistance and other support in implementing evidence-based prevention Will work closely with Evaluation Team to provide necessary training and technical assistance 4/15/2015 7

8 Eligible Applicants - Previous SPF SIG sub-recipient coalitions (must have extensive knowledge of SPF) - Eligibility not impacted by change in fiscal agent Funding Range - First year of funding up to $35,000 - Subsequent years of funding up to $35,000 - Renewable for 3 subsequent fiscal years Grant Period - Initially awarded for one year period - Renewable for 3 subsequent fiscal years 4/15/2015 8

9 EBPs (Evidence-Based Practices) Develop, implement and evaluate promising and EBP models for prevention and treatment of gambling disorder. Awareness-Building Develop, implement and evaluate a program to build awareness of healthy choices, responsible gambling practices and available state resources. Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Develop, implement and evaluate a program of CQI to enhance Ohio s problem gambling services system of care. Workforce Capacity-Building Includes planning & implementation of Supervision Fellowship Program, regional training seminars and statewide conference. 9

10 Develop, implement and evaluate promising and EBP models for prevention and treatment of gambling disorder. EBPs may also include policies and practices related to community engagement, cultural and/or linguistic competence if evidence of outcomes and/or return on investment is provided. Previously funded promising practices may receive continuation funding towards ongoing evaluation. Collaboration is encouraged MOUs required if applicable. 10

Funding Range - Proposals will be accepted for up to $50,000. Grant Period - Initially awarded for one year period; renewable for one additional year with noted progress toward goals. 4/15/

12 One grantee will be selected to develop, implement, and evaluate a statewide program to build awareness of healthy choices, responsible gambling practices and available state resources. Problem Gambling Awareness Campaign to be developed for a statewide audience. Campaign to include a toolkit for turnkey use by local communities and organizations. All campaign messaging is to be tested with target audience(s). 4/15/

Funding Range - Proposals will be accepted for up to $100,000. Grant Period - Initially awarded for one year period; renewable for one additional year with noted progress toward goals. 4/15/

14 Develop, implement and evaluate a program of continuous quality improvement to enhance Ohio s problem gambling services system of care. Provide evidence of appropriately qualified staffing with demonstrated experience in the areas of evaluation, training and technical assistance, and/or continuous quality improvement models. Describe methodology for development of CQI process, including information gathering with stakeholders and cultural competency. Recruitment of partner professionals, as needed. 14

15 Eligible Applicants - ADAMHS/ADAS Boards, OhioMHAS certified providers, qualified researchers, and research institutions. Funding Range - Proposals will be accepted for up to $50,000. Grant Period - Initially awarded for one year period; renewable for one additional year with noted progress toward goals. 15

Treatment Supervision Fellowship Program One organization will be funded to develop and implement a fellowship program for six qualified individuals to be trained as supervisors for gambling disorder treatment. Fellows will receive a stipend of $2,000 each to cover instate travel & expenses during the course of the program. Proposals will include the process used to develop the project; including stakeholder engagement; plan for marketing outreach and recruitment of fellows; phases/stages of fellowship program; and description of completion or graduation stage of program. 17

Treatment Supervision Fellowship Program Eligible Applicants - ADAMHS/ADAS Boards, MHA certified providers, BH orgs., coalitions, local government, faith-based orgs & educational entities, including higher education. Funding Range - Proposals will be accepted for up to $64,000. Grant Period - Initially awarded for one year period; renewable for one additional year with noted progress toward goals. 18

19 b. Regional Trainings for Prevention of Problem Gambling c. Regional Trainings for Treatment of Problem Gambling Up to two grant awards will be made. Develop, plan and implement six regional training seminars for professionals in the areas of problem gambling prevention and in problem gambling treatment. Hiring/engagement of qualified trainers/presenters. Planning Committee management included. Responsible for all related contracts. 21
