3 The property A Schuckert Höfe Logo B Facade of Haus B C Court yard view of building B Factory premises with an eventful history The Schuckert Höfe are the former Schuckert-Werke, which were set up in 1896 by the electricity company Schuckert & Co. Their founder Sigmund Schuckert was a very socially committed entrepreneur who endeavoured to create fair and tolerable conditions for his workers. After a merger with the family company Siemens & Halske in 1903 the factory produced around 2,500 dynamos and a corresponding amount of arc lamps and electric measuring devices and control units annually. After the 2nd World War and the elimination of war damage the East German trade-union organisation FDGB used the property from 1950 to 1992 as the printing press for its newspaper Tribüne. The property is to be renovated and re-let. This will be realised in construction phases largely concentrated on specific buildings. The fitting-out of individual lettings will be undertaken in coordination with their respective tenants on completion of the rental agreement. Future usage of the Schuckert Höfe has a wide range of possibilities, as the property can accommodate classical office space, spacious loft arrangements, gastronomic and leisure facilities, storage and service areas and shops. The target group consists of companies and tradespeople who place a high value on attractive rental conditions and locationrelated advantages, and who wish to move into the atmospheric environment provided by historical industrial architecture.
