Graduate tuition for most programs is $283 per credit hour (not including doctoral and pharmacy programs). Students residing in Illinois and contiguous states* qualify for in-state tuition rates. 3 College of Arts & Sciences The College of Arts & Sciences is the largest at CSU and considered to be the intellectual nucleus of the University. Home to the humanities, visual and performing arts, social and behavioral sciences, as well as the STEM (Sciences, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) disciplines of life, the College of Arts & Sciences prepares students for advanced studies and professional careers. The College of Arts & Sciences supports centers that enhance graduate education. 4 College of Education Since 1867, Chicago State University s College of Education (COE) has been dedicated to helping students realize their career goals in education. The College of Education s success is demonstrated through continuous accreditation by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools since 1941 and the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) since Through the College of Education Graduate Programs, highly-effective classroom teachers, school principals, and other professionals in fields related to education are prepared. In the doctoral as well as master s degree programs, the college combines high-quality, rigorous programs with a service orientation to accommodate the needs of our diverse student population. 5 College of Health Sciences The College of Health Sciences is responsible for developing and administering programs that educate aspiring health care professionals. Interprofessional education is a key component of all Health Science graduate programs. Team building and collaborative practice are central to graduate certificate and degree programs in Health Information Administration, Occupational Therapy, Public Health and Nursing. Students and faculty engage in applied research and patient care, develop healthcare system management expertise and support communities in need of additional services to reduce health disparities and promote social justice. The College supports centers that benefit graduate students, including the HIV/AIDS Policy and Research Institute and the Wellness/Health Center. In an uncertain economy, the health care industry remains a sector with strong job growth. DEGREES OFFERED College of Pharmacy Pharmacy students complete four years of study including one year of practice to receive a PharmD degree. The curriculum enables students to become pharmacy practitioners and also engage in emerging health care initiatives, expanding roles for pharmacists and address new advances in drug discovery. Students engage with faculty as active participants in their learning and interact with preceptors, and other mentors to become competent pharmacists who are committed to humanistic service capable of providing patientcentered care and develop into innovative leaders that will advance the pharmaceutical profession. 7 Admissions The graduate admissions office accepts applications on a continuous basis for most graduate programs. Students interested in obtaining admission should complete the admission process by these deadlines: Fall Term - March 15 Spring Term - October 15 Other Deadlines March 1 - Arts in Counseling applicants September 15 - international applicants (non U.S. citiizens) Some programs only accept applications for fall term. Check with your program of interest to determine deadlines for specific programs. Financing your Graduate Education There is a wide variety of financial resources and scholarship opportunities for graduate study. Prospective graduate students should inquire and apply early for scholarships and other financial resources. Graduate assistantships, research opportunities and university scholarships may also be available for graduate and professional program applicants. International Students The Office of International Programs works with international applicants to facilitate their transition to graduate student status. About CSU Chicago State University opened its doors as a teacher training school in Blue Island, Illinois in Today, the University is a fully-accredited public, urban institution located on 161 picturesque acres in a residential community on the South Side of Chicago. During the first year of its founding, CSU enrolled 62 students. Currently, there are over 1,400 graduate students among 5,700 students at CSU.
