1 Bail Bond Agent Job Description Position Title: Field Agent (Bail Bond Agent) Immediate Supervisor: Manager DATE: July 31, 2007 Overall Supervisor: Field Operations Manager SUMMARY: The Agent position encompasses a wide range of activities with involvement in all phases of the court system. The Agent must have no criminal history and be competent and proficient with all facets of the duties, skills and responsibilities required to underwrite and execute (post) bail bonds. An agent must possess a positive, outgoing, confident, motivated personality. The Agent must wear business casual attire at all times when meeting with clients or potential clients and while visiting courts or jails. The Agent puts the agency's needs first and works closely with the underwriters, manager, and agency owner on problem solving and daily work flow. This person works directly with the manager to resolve their respective problems. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. ADMINISTRATION: 1. Meet potential clients, both in county of residence as well as outlying counties, to fill out applications, accept payment, execute paperwork to perfect liens on collateral, and execute bail bonds 2. Account for and produce, at any time request by management, all powers of attorney (bonds) that have been assigned including keeping accurate and detailed records of who bonds are executed for, when, where, and for the amount(s) along with detailed records of collateral taken 3. Must complete all company forms in a thorough, accurate, complete, legible manner according to company rules, regulations, policies and procedures as promulgated from time to time 1 of 5

2 4. Must record and perfect all liens on collateral within 24 hours of posting bond, excluding days that the appropriate government office for recording liens is closed. Receipt must be turned in with other paperwork (See #5 below) 5. Carry a cell phone, and if requested, a pager, and respond, in a timely manner (within 10 minutes) pursuant to company guidelines, to calls and pages 24 hours per day, 7 days per week 6. When requested, take telephone calls to arrange bail bonds according to company underwriting guidelines 7. Turn in all bail bond related paperwork to the main office within 72 hours of posting (If working from a detached location must be mailed to office postmarked within 72 hours) FINANCE: 1. Account for cash collateral and premiums collected on all bonds with immediate deposit into the agent assigned account. (Must be deposited into the assigned bank account within 24 hours excluding days the appropriate bank is closed.) MARKETING/PUBLIC RELATIONS: 1. Assist agency personnel with development, implementation, and maintenance of various marketing activities and to assist in development and implementation of a more effective marketing program 2. Gather marketing statistical data daily from various courts and jails in the surrounding counties 3. Attends and participates in various promotional and public relation activities as requested. 4. Go to courts and jails to identify and prospect potential clients 5. Help locate, but not apprehend, clients who fail to return for scheduled court appearances 2 of 5

3 LOSS PREVENTION: 1. Absolutely must cease execution of appearance (bail) bond, call the office immediately, and obtain further instructions, if there is any deviation from underwriting information provided by office when a bond is was assigned to agent for execution (posting) 2. Maintain a current Resident Department of Insurance Property/Casualty Limited Lines License for Fidelity/ Surety Insurance 2. Must obtain and maintain a notary commission valid in the state of posting 3. Maintain a current driver s license for state where appointed to post bail bonds 4. Must maintain reliable private, personal transportation available at all times to travel to jails and courts as required by the company 5. Must maintain open flexible schedule to allow for posting of bail bonds as needed by the company with a maximum time of one hour to be able to leave for assignment. 6. Must give company a minimum 24 hour advance notice of any time off requirements except in circumstances of dire emergency 7. Perform other such duties as may be assigned QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. An agent must possess the ability to accurately access the reliability of information provided by clients as well as to have high tolerance for frustration caused by possible delays in processing by the 3 of 5

Work experience equivalent may be acceptable. 2. Experience with a police department, court or similar experience. (May be waived for some applicants) 3. Educational requirements may vary based upon the individual s professional experience. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: 1. Prior to commencement of activities which require a license candidate must have a. successfully completed any required Insurance License class for a limited lines property/casualty insurance license, and b. must have successfully passed the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Growth Office of Financial and Insurance Services licensing test for, at a minimum, an insurance license for limited lines property/casualty and c. obtained, at a minimum, an Insurance Property/Casualty Limited Lines License for Fidelity/Surety Insurance 2.
