Affiliated with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). Administers the ISO/IEC Personnel Certification Accreditation Program, designed to harmonize the personnel certification process worldwide and create a more cost-effective global standard for workers.

16 Responsible in Charge Did the decisions that the candidate was empowered to make directly impact the successful completion of the project and was the candidate directly responsible in charge of construction management services and for protecting the interests of the project and the owner?

17 Letters of Reference, Resume & Exam After receipt of an application, references are contacted by CMCI. Reference letters are sent directly to CMCI. A current professional resume documenting specific project responsibilities, not simply a description of the project is required. A comprehensive 6-hour 6 exam based on experience and knowledge is taken.

23 Proposed Federal Job Classification U.S. Office of Personnel Management is reviewing a proposed new occupation series for federal employees, with the classification 0820 Construction Manager

24 PE & AIA vs. CCM The CCM is focused exclusively on construction projects and programs, and requires an individual to substantiate that they have been educated as an architect, engineer or construction manager with extensive experience in managing both the design and construction phases of a project.

25 PE & AIA vs. CCM The CCM program is ANSI accredited, and recertification requires continuing education, which is not a requirement in all states for renewal of professional engineering and architect registration.

26 PMP vs. CCM: Focus PMP focus first on IT project management and secondarily on Organizational Development projects CCM focused solely on the Construction Management Industry

27 PMP vs. CCM: Standards PMP exam based on one size fits all project management found in PMI Book of Knowledge (PMBOK) CM Certification exam based on the CMAA Standards of Practice and knowledge base (CMBOK) which is exclusively devoted to construction and building practices

28 PMP vs. CCM: Qualifications PMP Needs only verification that candidate has directed project tasks for between 4500 and 7500 hours (depending upon education) CCM: Minimum 7680 (160 hrs/month x 48 months) hours of construction management- related experience Construction-specific specific bachelor s s degree or without relevant degree, the qualification requirements are significantly greater.

29 PMP vs. CCM: Responsible in Charge While a CCM candidate must demonstrate that he or she was the responsible in charge person, a PMP candidate qualifies even if all of his or her activities were accomplished under general supervision
