We have a large number of appointments which are wasted by people not attending slots they have booked. Have you any ideas as to how we can improve this? >> ' fine if they dont cancel formally' << >>? << >> 2 fine to charity << >> 5 fee per patient << >> 2 missed appointments & they should have to come into the surgery to book the appointment << >> 3 strikes & out << >> a charge for people who do not turn up or miss appointments << >> a record should be kept of those who fail to turn up and they should be contacted to ask why? << >> A small fee for none notified absence << >> A small fine. << >> A TEXT SERVICE TO ADVISE IF YOU CANNOT MAKE APT << >> After 2 occassion, bill them << >> after a few apptointments missed, make sure patients knows the value of the time that has been wasted & say it will be hard for you to book next time << >> After a number of missed appointments suggest alternating doctor. << >> Appointments should be pre booked - extend the timing << >> Ask people to arrive earlier, so if theres an empty slot they can go in earlier << >> Ask people to confirm the booking plus give 3 strikes then cancel << >> automated text voic reminding them of their appointment << >> Banning them. << >> book them in for the next available appointment << >> By sending a letter to a patient if they miss up to 3 appointments << >> call back or generate a text message to remind a patient about their appointment << >> call or text to remind about appt << >> Charge (Dentists do) If Missed - eg 5 next time book, if not immediately << >> Charge a fee << >> Charge a fee if no good reasom << >> charge a nominal fee <<

>> Charge a small fee 5.00? << >> Charge after so many occasions << >> charge fee for no attending << >> charge for broken appointments << >> charge for mis used appointments << >> Charge for missed appointments << >> Charge for missing appointments. << >> charge for wilful misuse like the council does << >> Charge if there is not a valid reason << >> charge if they don't turn up same as the dentist << >> CHARGE OR USE CARD SYSTEM WHICH YOU GET WARNINGS << >> charge people << >> Charge them << >> charge them a fee for a missed appointment say 5 and you will find that they will come ot put a system where you put points against names and after number of points warn them that they will be taken off list and need to find another doctors << >> Charge them a nominal fee. << >> charge them for missed appointments also make the people who miss appointments with an interpreter, give a deposit if they need an interpreter booking for their next appiontment so they should turn up if not kept the charge & give it to a Charity << >> Charge them for missing their appointment especially if they keep affending. << >> charge them for no show without 24hrs notice << >> charge them for their next appointment << >> Charge them for wasting the doctor's time. << >> charge them small fee << >> charge um << >> CHECK TEXT MESSAGE SYSTEM << >> Contacting patients the day before to confirm their attendance << >> don't give them another appointment << >> don't know << >> don't let them rebook for a month unless it's an emergency << >> don't no <<

>> /text reminders << >> Encouraged to cancel if no longer needed. << >> Exempt them after 3 DNA << >> fie the people for not keeping appointments << >> fine them << >> FINE THEM! << >> FINED THEM 10 << >> fines << >> for persistent problems take the off the register to this surgery << >> Get a confirmation call from the patient before they arrive << >> Get people to confirm appointments on the day and also sending a text message to remind them. << >> Get the next person in straight away, make the late person wait << >> Give patients a "3 strike" << >> Give people 3 chances and then ask them to find a different surgery << >> Give people who's you said you are fully book << >> give the appointments to other person who he/she need << >> give them a warning << >> give them certain time to cancel << >> HAVE A COUPLE OF PHANTOM APPOINTMENTS SO THAT PEOPLE ARRIVING EARLY CAN GET IN AND THE ONES ARRIVING LATE/NOT AT ALL THEIR TIME CAN BE USED UP BY OTHERS << >> i am one of them people << >> I feel that to be able to improve this situation, it would be helpful in the first instance to find out why people are not attending appointments. This could be done through text, phone, etc. Do we know if certain groups of people are more prone to miss appointments i.e. older people, young people, children, people who have English as a second language etc. These factors may have a bearing on how things can be improved. << >> i sometimes understand & apperdite some PT require longer appt times with the doctor << >> If a patient personally books their appointments then fails to cancel on three occasions they should be removed from the patient list. They will then have to find and register at another Practice! The patient database could be adapted to log each time a patient fails to cancel an appointment with a warning letter automatically being sent out upon the second non cancellation. << >> If it's a genuine reason it's ok, silly reason bottom of the list <<

>> If more than twice without a valid reason, take them off your practice. (put warning note on wall of reception) << >> If people do not turn up then a charge should be made << >> If they keep failing to turn up make them pay << >> if they miss x 2 appointments within 6 months they are only allowed to book on the day appts << >> If this is a regular thing and it happens on a regular basis, ask them to find another doctor's practice. << >> incure a charge, unless it is an emergency << >> introduce a fine << >> Just make a record and if DNA 3 times then take action. << >> MAKE A CHARGE << >> Make a note of those people and make them wait next time << >> make a note on file & speak to them once 5 have been noted << >> make appointments for other days & not just on the day << >> make them low prioroty << >> make them pay << >> MAKE THEM PAY A FEE << >> make them pay a small fine, if they have not phoned to cancelor have a responible excuse, or make them wait a week for their next apptoinment if not a serious condition << >> maybe cnofirmation to or text << >> Maybe text with an appointment reminder << >> mention to them to canel it if they wouldn't attend it << >> missed appointments should be charged to the patient. << >> more on the day/next day slots ie whilst are ill and need to be seen << >> more reminders ie texts << >> Mybe 3 strikes and out rule Miss 3 appointments in a rolling3 or 6 month period and have to change surgeries << >> never really given it a thought << >> next time put them on a long waiting list << >> no << >> No comment << >> no idea <<

>> no sorry << >> None << >> not sure << >> Not sure << >> occasionally i've waited a ling time after my appt slot << >> on the day booking. << >> Only allow to book over the phone << >> patients text to cncel or patioents sent reminder text of appointment to confirm attendance << >> People should be made aware they have 24hrs to cancel also a SMS message service to remind people about their appointments. << >> perhaps charge them give money to charity << >> Perhaps text reminders and ability to cancel appointments by replying to the text? << >> Phone mobile reminder << >> Possible charge for missed appointments. << >> possibly text reminders << >> put a fine in place if not attend same as dentists << >> put a fine in place if they dont phone in << >> Put in 3 strikes and your out system. Once is a warning, twice is a fine 10, 3rd time is a larger fine 25 or out. << >> reminder call << >> reminder call for advanced bookings << >> Reminder service << >> Reminder Text << >> Reminder the day before << >> reminders like nhs << >> ring back to people who have been booked in on that day. << >> Ring the patient the day before << >> send a reminder text or a phone for why the appointment has not been fullfilled << >> send a reminder text to patients << >> send a text message the day before to remind them <<

>> SEND PEOPLE A LETTER OR TO INFORM THEM HOW MUCH THEIR MISSED APPOINTMENT HAS COST THE NHS. HAVE A SEPERATE PHONE NUMBER FOR CANCELLATIONS EVEN IF IT GOES THEOUGH TO AN ANSWER MACHINE << >> Send reminder texts that have a reply facility to say yes or no << >> Sending a text message 1hr before << >> Sending reminding letter through mobile phones and E. mails. << >> sending text reminders where possible maybe the day before << >> separate telephone line for cancellations << >> shoot anyone who doesn't turn up or cancel the appointment << >> Skype consultation first on line prescrption second << >> small fine << >> Small fines or yellow cards << >> SMS reminders << >> Some people genuinely forget, some people are just time wasters, people who keep doing it should be struck off. << >> Sometimes its fine, others it's a long wait. << >> Sorry its always going to be a problem << >> text alerts << >> text message every patient << >> text message reminder via system 1 << >> Text message reminders for appointments booked both in advance and on the day. Signed agreement on registering that 3 DNA's in any 12 month period would mean being taken off surgery list, reminders of this on appointment booking line << >> text reminder << >> Text Reminder The current system makes it very difficult to book an appointment with the Doctor, as it is not always possible to get to or ring the surgery at 7.30am << >> Text reminders << >> Text reminders for appointments 1hour before. << >> text service to remind charge if same patient always misses appointment << >> text them or charge as at dentist do << >> thats so rude - a fine for each one they miss << >> The patients that are on time give them priority. << >> This is an age old problem throughout the health service due to a lack of consideration and the answer is stillnot available <<

>> to be able to make an appiontment on the phone days before << >> To put a note up advising Patients of wasted hours << >> via text message << >> Waiting list of last minute booking. << >> Warn them << >> well missed appointments should be filled in with emergencies << >> when people cancel and more patients ring up you can give them the appointments << >> would a flexible drop in system work to fill empty slots (people who needed urgent attention << >> you could try the 3 strikes and you're off the list approach, some dentist do this. fining people would be ideal but unrealistic and difficult to implement. <<
