2 MISSION NorthEndWell beingservices(news)isorganizedundertheumbrellaofthenorthendcampus CoalitiontocoordinateexistingservicestoNorthEndresidentsandtoaddressthevoidinaccessible healthandwell beingactivitiesfornorthendresidents.programswillbefundedbythecommunity InitiativesFund(CIF)throughacompetitivegrantapplicationprocessdevelopedbytheNorthEnd CampusCoalition sreviewcommittee(seeattachment).projectswillbefundedthatmostclosely addresstheexpressedcommunityneeds.servicesarecoordinatedbythedirectorofthenorthend CampusCoalition.NEWSisacommunity driveninitiativewithitsmission tobededicatedtoimproving thehealthandwellbeingofourcommunitybycreatingprogramsthroughthecommunityinitiatives FundthataddressestheneedsoftheNorthEndcommunity,coordinatesexistingactivitiesforNorthEnd residentsandworkstowardwaystoencourageall peopleofthenorthendtoengageincommunity life. TheNorthEndWell beingservicesisthe coordinationofallactivitiesforthenorth Endresidentsandisnotatasinglelocation. NEWSbringstogetherthecurrentprograms fornorthendresidentsandcoordinatesnewservicesthataddresstheidentifiedgapsinthe needsofourcommunitythroughthenorthendcampuscoalitionandthenorthendoutreach Network(NEON).NEWSmonitorsfundsthatallowforthedevelopmentofhealthandwellbeingprojectsfortheNorthEndresidentsthroughtheNorthEndCampusCoalition s CommitteeonCommunityInitiativeFunds.TheHostAgency,NewNorthCitizens Council,Inc. providesfiscaloversightofgrantees approvedbudget(approvedinthemanorofthenorthend CampusCoalition,seeattached).TheNewNorthCitizens Council,Inc.(NNCC),a501(c)3 corporationisthehostagencyandhasagreedtobeadministrativelyresponsibleforthefunds approvedfortheimplementationofthenewsmission;toperformfiscalresponsibilitiesin accordancewithstandardfiscalprocedures;providefiscalreportstogoverningdesigneesand providequarterlyupdatestofundersorasrequired.ongoingdirectionofnewswillbeprovided bythenorthendcampuscoalition(necc)inaccordancetotheirby laws.thedirectorofthe NorthEndCampusCoalitionwillprovidecoordinationandevaluationoftheCIFfunded programsandanyotherneccfundedcommunityinitiatives. Asacommunity drivenprocess,newsplaysacriticalroleinthedevelopment,implementationand coordinationofcomprehensivecommunityhealthservices.campuscoalitiondirector,thecoalition s communityinitiativescommittee,neonandthecampuscoalitionsteeringcommitteehaveclose relationshipstocreateandbeaccountabletoourcommunity sgreatestassets itsresidents. NEWSwillcoordinateprogramsthatenhance thehealthandwell beingofthepeopleofthe NorthEndbymakingavailableaswiderangeof activitiesaspossiblethatattractsthewidest participation.
3 NEWSGOALS NEWSisourefforttomeetasmanyofthepriorityneedsoftheresidentsintheNorthEndaspossible bycreating,evaluating,andcoordinatingprogramsthatmeettheagreeduponhealthandwell being needsofthecommunity.newsisacollaborationofthesteeringcommitteeofthenecc,the CommunityInitiativeCommitteeoftheNECC,NEON,theCIFfundedprograms,programsfundedtoa memberagencyusingthecoalitiontomeetfundingrequirements,thehostagencyandanyagency thepeopleinit. offeringprogramsforthepeopleofthenorthendwhovolunteertoparticipateaswellasother residentsofthecommunity.thesteeringcommitteeofthenorthendcampuscoalitionwillprovide oversighttothedirectorofthecoalitionwhowillcoordinatenews. NEWSwillfocusits effortsonneighborhoodresidents identifiedpublichealthandwell beingconcerns, helpingdevelopcommunityresponses,enhancingpartnershipswithkeystakeholdersandcollaborating. NEWS sprimaryfocusareasare: EstablishingacoordinatedefforttocreateaNorthEndCommunity Center IdentifyingcurrentprogrammingforNorthEndResidents ImprovingthelivingconditionsoftheMemorialSquareandBrightwoodneighborhoodsby creatingprogramsthroughacompetitiveapplicationprocessthataddressidentifiedgapsin services.
