6 The 21 st annual Health Care Forecast Conference will focus on the health politics and economics in an election year and their likely impact on the health care debate in Congress. With the federal deficit expanding, an economy slow to recover from the recession, rising health care costs, and changes in health care entitlements an important part of any solution to the federal deficit, will Congress agree on any solutions during the election year, or will they wait for the outcome of the election? Will it be possible to turn back the clock on the Affordable Care Act if the US Supreme Court rules against the Administration? Health care providers and payors are changing their strategies to accommodate the Affordable Care Act, and these changes in the marketplace may be permanent regardless of how the Supreme Court decides. The Affordable Care Act affects the States as well, and has significant health policy implications. The budget shortfall in State of California is likely to negatively impact access to health care in the state. MediCal is in financial jeopardy. The initiation of the California Health Benefits Exchange in preparation for the implementation of health care reform creates new requirements for compliance by health care organizations and can result in changes in the competitive landscape. Scientific breakthroughs giving rise to the area of Personalized Medicine are likely to change health care delivery and competition. Will this new development provide a disruptive innovation in the market? Also, continued integration, mergers and acquisitions affect market dynamics. How will this impact one s organization? Distinguished speakers will discuss all of the above, as well as provide an insightful strategic outlook on the health care market in this key election year which may see a change in the Administration.
