1 Master of Science in Systems Engineering Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering The Master of Science program in systems engineering is designed to prepare students for significant engineering-related careers in industry as well as simultaneously for further graduate study. Admission is open to students with a bachelor s degree in any engineering discipline. The program offers three distinct options: 1. Dynamic systems and control engineering option 2. Robotic systems engineering option 3. System modeling and computer simulation option Admission requirements 1. B.S. in any engineering discipline. 2. Grade-point average of 3.00 or better 3. Official GRE scores are required of applicants having the qualifying degree from an institution not regionally accredited. Official TOEFL scores are required of graduates of programs taught in a language other than English. Degree requirements In addition to the general degree requirements, a student must fulfill the program requirements for one of the options to be awarded the Master of Science in systems engineering. 1. 2 Required courses (12 to 16 credits) Students are required to select at least three courses from: Optimal Control Theory Estimation and Control Theory Digital Control Systems Depth areas (8 to 16 credits) A student is required to take at least two courses from one of the following depth areas. Students may take more than one depth area. (Depth area courses are listed at the end of this section.) Successful completion and defense of a thesis is a prerequisite for earning thesis credits. All theses must conform to university standards (see Master s thesis/doctoral dissertation in the Policies and Procedures section of this catalog).
