1 SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE AAUW-Allentown is accepting applications for the INTERRUPTED STUDIES GRANTS. Scholarships are given to women who reside in the greater Lehigh Valley area and who wish to complete studies through higher education in Lehigh Valley area institutions.* 1. Scholarships are limited to those women whose post-high school studies have been interrupted at some point for at least six months. This interruption does not include a gap between high school graduation and beginning of higher level studies. 2. Candidates must be enrolled in or accepted to an institution* at the time of application. 3. Financial need must be demonstrated. *Accredited two- or four-year college, advanced degree program, or vocational school. Applicants for an award must submit an application and two character references, and may be interviewed by the Community Awards Committee. Application packets are available at most Lehigh Valley Area college and university Financial Aid Offices and from our website at Applications must be received no later than February 17, Prior recipients who have not yet completed their studies are eligible to reapply. A number of grants (minimum of $500) will be awarded. Awards may be used only for tuition for the school year beginning summer 2015 and running through spring Recipients will be notified by the end of May 2015 for the school year. Please complete all sections of the application form including the names of two character references who know you in a professional and/or academic capacity. Please do not use relatives or friends as your references. 2. Provide a Character Reference form to each of your two references. They should fill out the form and send it to the address on the top of the form and/or provide it to you to include with your application form. If the references are not received by February 17, 2015, your application is not complete and will not be considered. 3. Verification of Enrollment/Acceptance MUST be included for your application to be complete. 4.
