6 Service: considerations of the informal economy that delve into its dark or illegal sectors Learning & Pedagogical Scholarship 2011: Other Research Activities 2011 Academy of Management Caucus: Considering Multiple Experiential Learning Perspectives: A Look at Business Education as West Meets East Abstract: As the world is rapidly converging, we embrace the practices, challenges and opportunities of the western cultures meeting eastern cultures This caucus focuses on the challenges and opportunities of expanding the knowledge of students in the United States and China through experiential learning techniques as the students eagerly seek understanding of the unfamiliar country Service to the University Department Assignments Chair: : HR/OB Lecturer Search Committee: Chaired Search Committee for HR/OB lecturer Evaluated all applicants based on AQ/PQ and teaching experience and identified 6 candidates for phone interviews, from which we invited 3 for on-campus visits resulting in a successful hire for Fall 2013 Member: 2012: Ad-hoc committee on the Management Core Curriculum: As a member of this committe, we worked to integrate courses in the management core and revised the core to incorporate more skills-based practice As a result, three courses were revised for management majors : Management & Decision Sciences Department - Core Curriculum Committee: With the approval of 5 new concentrations within the Management major, this committee is re-evaluating the core class requirements for management majors We have been charged with addressing the relevance and timing of the content delivered and skills to be developed to enhance the learning environment : Management and Decision Sciences Department - Human Resources Concentration: Developed program for a newly proposed HR concentration within the Management major to include a formal program summary and development of 3 new courses to support the concentration entitled, Attracting & Acquiring Human Talent, Managing Talent & Developing 21st Century Leaders, and Retaining Talent and Maximizing the Value of Human Capital Program will launch Fall : Undergraduate Business Administration Curriculum: Coordinating the development of program learning goals for the Human Resources concentration Other Institutional Service Activities: 2012: Management and Decision Sciences Department: Participated in department-sponsored ice cream social to network with freshmen students enrolled in CBAD 120 and discuss program options in the management major : Service: Worked with HR/OB faculty to create a journals database with rankings based on a new system of classifying journals into elite, very high quality, high quality, and quality categories I provided a list of recommended journals to the list and provided rankings for the journals on the list : Service: Met with Healthcare Management candidate, Eric Ford, for breakfast and address questions from a tenure-track perspective After breakfast meeting, escorted candidate to meet with the Graduate Dean : Assurance of Learning - Assessment of HR learning goals: Completed an assessment of the first program learning goal for the Human Resources concentration, The human resources student will be able to explain the key functions and decisions of human resources management The two learning objectives for this goal were assessed in my MGT 313 Spring 2008 course : Assurance of Learning: Attended update meeting on March 17, 2008 for the Assurance of Learning/Assessment for feedback on assessment of Business Admin's majors and concentrations : Program Learning Goals - HR: Developed assessment questions for the one learning objective for the HR concentration and submitted for college-wide assessment of learning goals in MGT 491 Submitted 2/14/ : HR Curriculum Changes: Worked to re-evaluate and change HR curriculum courses

7 : Departmental Service: Supported undergraduate business administration students with letters of recommendation for graduate school (Robert Jones, offers extended by 2 programs and accepted the UNC-Chapel Hill offer for the Masters in Health Care Administration) HR scholarship (Mary Faggart), and study abroad (Mary Ann Khamdy for study program in Japan) College Assignments Member: : MBA Advisory Committee: Served as member of the MBA Advisory Committee and in the Fall of 2012, we reviewed proposed changes to the MBA curriculum that involved restructuring of the program, including course offerings and credit hour assignments We also approved a new track in Entrepreneurship for the MBA program : Wall Fellows - Class of 2015: Conducted interviews to select the Wall Fellows Class of 2015 Faculty interviews were conducted on February 19-19, 2013 and I participated in conducted 3 interviews for the 11 applicants being considered : Undergraduate Program Committee: Worked with committee on proposed changes to the Foreign Language requirement with Global and Cultural Perspectives; reviewed a subset of courses for consideration for inclusion in student elective options; reviewed curriculum changes for undergraduate programs : Undergraduate Program Committee: Participated in a number of meetings to evaluate curriculum changes for the Entrepreneurship major and minor, including approval of several new course proposals; participated in discussions and proposals concerning adjustments to the foreign language requirement for Business School majors : Undergraduate Program Committee: As a member, I participated in roughly 10 meetings as well as some e-meetings on undergraduate program changes Participated in evaluating a number of curriculum changes including the Entrepreneurship major and minor, including approval of several new course proposals in Business Administration and Finance; changes to the Economics program; review and edits of the Common Body of Knowledge (CBK) learning objectives; review of Course Coordinator description; review of CBK exam results for implications for curriculum changes; participated as a representative of UPC for the Outstanding Student Awards committee : Outstanding Student Award Committee: Reviewed nomination packets and evaluated nominees for consideration of Outstanding Student and Dean's Service Awards Reviewed nominees for Deans Service Award and Outstanding Student, including one recommendation for a student I submitted for consideration Other Institutional Service Activities: : Wall Fellows: Presentation the Wall Fellows class on Apr 3rd and Apr 10th entitled, "Are you really ready for work?
