The following specific industries will be covered in depth: swine, dairy, beef, equine, sheep and poultry. This course will prepare students to develop and maintain an animalrelated Supervised Agricultural Experience project to exhibit at the Washington County fair and/or Oregon Sate Fair. Students earn science credit for this course, as well as 4 credits for ANS 121 through Linn-Benton Community College. Linn-Benton Community College ANS 121 Introduction to Animal Science Yes Basic Construction This course is designed to familiarize the student with basic mechanical theory & shop skills. Students will develop skills in the following areas: carpentry, electricity, plumbing, drywall and wood project construction. This will be a project-based course. While learning these skills, students will be designing and constructing class projects in order to build skills in teamwork and construction. Emphasis will also be placed on safe and proper use of tools & equipment Horticulture This course will utilize the school greenhouse as a learning laboratory to teach topics including plant science, plant propagation, horticulture marketing and floriculture. Students will be heavily involved in the operation of the greenhouse.
4 Yes Metal Fabrication This is a project-based course designed to develop advanced skills in metal joining and equipment assembly. Emphasis will be placed on improving welding skills, project planning and construction, and metal preparation and finishing. Students need to supply their own materials for projects Supervised Agricultural Experience This course is designed to provide students an opportunity to earn credit for agriculture-related work experience. Students are required to work closely with the instructor to maintain work and financial records, set up supervisory visits, and complete a final portfolio. Students must complete a minimum of 80 hours of work experience over the course of the semester. Yes Welding This course is designed to develop skills in arc, oxy-acetylene, and MIG weldding - oxyacetylene and plasma cutting - and cold metal working skills. Students will be required to complete several projects to demonstrate their skills. Welding II This course will be for those welding students wishing to earn 4 Welding 111 credits through PCC. Students will become proficient in arc welding with 7024 electrode and oxyacetylene cutting. PCC PCC WLD 271 WLD 111 Oxy-acetylene Welding Projects SMAW: Mild Steel and Oxy-acetylene Cutting Basic Construction II Greenhouse Production Basic Construction II will be an extension of Basic Construction where students will learn advanced construction concepts such as project planning and finish work. Students will make several different woods projects and will earn their 10 hour OSHA Safety Card. This course will be mostly self-paced and will run concurrently with Basic Construction N Students in this course will utilize the school s greenhouse as a learning laboratory to learn the practical applications of horticulture including plant ID, transplanting, growing plants in the greenhouse, creating mixed planters, marketing of horticulture products, & landscaping. Students will be responsible for working with the plants sold through the FFA Spring Plant Sale. *TSA required Technical Skill Assessment required course required courses that, when completed, trigger TSA assessment eligibility for the student
