Tools to enhance teaching, keep students on task, encourage continuous assessment and reduce teacher workload. Unique and innovative solution for the provision of MFL teaching without the need for specialist equipment. Engage and control Students in the ICT classroom. Provide tools to encourage participation, collaboration and safe use of technology. Dedicated tools for the IT Technician and Network Manager to aid in the effective management of all IT assets and deliver Teacher support. A Whole School solution that encourages high standards within ICT and embraces OFSTED guidelines for effective teaching.
As a Teacher, NetSupport School is designed to allow you to focus your time and attention on the students, rather than on using and maintaining the software. All the features you would expect from a classroom management solution are included, from monitoring student screens, delivering realtime screen presentations, to handing out files or collecting coursework. But what really sets the product apart is its unique supporting features that operate without the need for Teacher interaction. On start-up, the Teacher module auto locates and connects to all student computers, instantly applying pre-set controls over Students internet and application activity, as well as memory stick and classroom printer usage (helping to reduce classroom costs). All of these features allow for full usage reporting and can be applied on a teacher-by-teacher basis or just when needed. A powerful Testing suite is included, allowing you to deliver customised tests to the class in seconds. You can monitor student progress in real time and, upon completion, present them with a detailed question-by-question summary of their results. Test resources can be imported and exported between teachers and from NetSupport s own online resource centre. For quick assessment, or for fun, Instant Survey mode provides the ability to group students based on their feedback while the Question and Answer module uses a game-show approach to encourage active assessment in the classroom. At the core of this feature is the ability to deliver both peer and individual student assessment quickly and efficiently as well as introduce new questioning styles to the lesson, such as basketball questioning. Unique to NetSupport School is our digital Student Journal feature. A journal file records activity during a lesson (including images that you show to your students) a list of relevant websites, any surveys that are conducted, all chats within the group etc. This file is unique to each student and reflects any personal notes they may have added. In addition, a master copy of the file is also created on the Tutor PC. The Journal feature provides an invaluable summary of lesson activity and a resource to forward to absent students, as well as an automated method of recording curriculum progress. Other unique feaures in NetSupport School include a Lesson Planner, a Virtual Whiteboard (where any or all students can be given an opportunity to interact), as well as always visible lesson objectives and student rewards. As an extension to the desktop Teacher module, the NetSupport Tutor Assistant app is available for use on Android and ios tablets, enabling mobile interaction with students.
The delivery of typical ICT teaching is a very visual process and, as such, classroom management software has always focused on delivering screen-based monitoring of student activity. NetSupport School introduces a totally unique Language Lab mode, delivering an innovative link between Audio and Visual monitoring. While viewing a class of computers, on-screen indicators for each student show you when the student is either listening to audio content or speaking. In a single click, you can select any student and instantly listen in, without disruption. In addition, you can conduct a two-way audio conversation, broadcast audibly to the whole class and, critically, record student audio activity. For example, let s say that while you are listening to a student you hear a great example of pronunciation. By clicking on the record button, NetSupport School will begin to record the student s audio stream, ready to be saved or played back to the class. But, as listening is a reactive process, and typically you hear something before you decide it is worthy of recording, NetSupport School buffers the audio from the Student so that at the point when you begin recording, NetSupport also includes the previous 60 seconds of audio in the recording, ensuring nothing is missed. With resources limited for most schools and dedicated language lab tools costly, NetSupport School provides a perfect feature set to allow the Modern Foreign Languages Department to make the most from the investment made in ICT, without the need for training or extensive IT skills. The Language Lab feature in NetSupport School is totally unique and not available in any other comparable solution. No specialist hardware is required; just a headset and microphone for each computer.
The aim of NetSupport School is to deliver greater interaction with, and management of, students in the ICT lab whatever the mix of technology in use. We recognise that students are resistant to technology perceived as being Big Brother based. NetSupport School provides a unique feature developed in consultation with both teachers and students - the Student Toolbar. During a lesson the students have a slim toolbar at the top of their screens which provides details of the current class and includes their lesson objectives. All of the key control features - Internet, Application, Keyboard, Instant Messenger, Memory Stick and more - are shown as simple icons. When a restriction is in force, a visual indicator ensures the students all know that printing, for example, is disabled. It may seem simple, but without a visual indicator, students will continue attempting to print, unaware that limitations are in force. For more detailed controls, such as Internet and Application usage, when restrictions are in force, students can see a list of which websites or applications they are allowed to use, avoiding wasted effort and ensuring all students remain on task. Students can also use the toolbar to request help from the teacher silently, access their personal folder or memory stick without the need for a working knowledge of Explorer, or add notes to their Journal. The Student Toolbar can also be automatically hidden by the teacher where interaction and feedback is not required. The Student Journal, provides a full digital record of all resources and information presented to the student during the lesson. A student can add notes and screenshots to this at any time. At the end of class, each student then has a full summary of the topic covered which can be reviewed to help with homework or as a revision resource. NetSupport School also encourages group working and collaboration, with the Teacher able to delegate certain tools to selected students or Group Leaders. Within their Group, these Leaders can show their screen to selected students, conduct a group chat and/or collaborate on coursework - perhaps as part of project work (or with an eye to Gifted and Talented provision). With NetSupport s classroom management software teachers can interact with students who are using Windows desktops, laptops, Apple Macs, Chromebooks, Linux systems and tablets (Android & Apple ios).
Classroom Management products like NetSupport School are often perceived as being a teacher s tool - a single application aimed at delivering greater control and interaction with students within an ICT lab. The truth, however, is that the value of any software solution is only leveraged when the environment it works within is fully operational and suitably maintained. NetSupport recognises that a successful ICT Department relies on both teachers and technicians and the introduction of a classroom solution should not generate additional overheads for technical staff. With that in mind, NetSupport School offers (as standard) a dedicated Technician s Console. The Console allows you to monitor all computers across the school in a single view and apply school-wide policy restrictions and security profiles without the need for a dedicated server. Not only can you see real-time thumbnails of all connected computers, but also which teachers are connected to students within each room. In addition, with the approval of the teacher, you can also provide instant remote assistance to any Teacher or Student PC. You can perform an instant hardware/software inventory, interact in real time with applications, website activity, services and processes running on each PC. You can also take full remote control of any PC that requires attention. A Policy Management tool allows for NetSupport restrictions, for example, approved/restricted websites, to be applied across the school permanently. School-wide security policies can be set where all PCs can be checked against a pre-defined set of policies, identifying instantly any computers that are without anti-virus, Windows updates or Internet protection. Currently, classroom management solutions offer usage control for the duration of a lesson and these restrictions stop as soon as the Teacher PC disconnects. In NetSupport School these restrictions are applied centrally and remain in force 24 hours a day. During a lesson these can be overridden with the teacher s specific settings. The file distribution feature lets you quickly distribute files or folders from your PC to any number of selected computers in a single action. From the Console, all computers can be remotely powered on or off and NetSupport School will even indicate which computers have a memory stick left in them. One Technician-focused solution - multi-room or full site monitoring, PC management and remote control tools - all included for free with NetSupport School.
We are the first to recognise that NetSupport School is a premium solution and carries a cost. It is however also recognised as the most widely adopted solution in the UK, with a history of awards and industry recognition. For your school, a likely key element of your development plan is a desire to enrich learning, raise standards and ensure both differentiation and provision for the most able students is met. Many of the features in NetSupport School have been added in response to OFSTED guidelines and assessment of effective classroom teaching. With that in mind, NetSupport School can genuinely help in your efforts for achievement. A summary of features based on OFSTED recommendations and guidelines include: - Always available lesson details and target objectives ensuring lessons have clear aims and purposes. - Virtual whiteboard and inbuilt collaborative tools making clear the importance of critical thinking, creativity and imagination. - Lesson Planner allowing teachers to prepare in advance, for continuity and progression. - Desktop Lock, Printer, USB, Internet and Application control allowing teachers to ensure their classes are managed effectively. - Student silent request help helps students feel comfortable requesting assistance. - Student Journals inclusive summary of all lesson content and discussions for later review and as a reference for absent students. - Group Leaders allowing groups of students to be managed with different subject work and at different speeds as part of the Every Child Matters approach. - Q&A Mode, Surveys and Tests provide a useful continuous and instant assessment of learning. The auto-marking feature allows for testing without impacting on teachers work/life balance. In addition to supporting guidelines on rigorous assessment of student understanding, Surveys also provide a perfect format for a lesson plenary. Q&A Mode enables teachers to reinforce key learning points and instantly gauge student understanding during a lesson. - Supporting BYOD with the added ability to engage with students using mobile technology (Android & Apple), NetSupport School is perfectly placed to support BYOD initiatives.
NETSUPPORT SCHOOL RECENT AWARDS
When considering any new technology, especially one that can be used across much of the school infrastructure, it is critical to understand both its technical requirements and also its capability for use in the future. NetSupport School can be used on any Windows computer and in any combination. It is designed to work flawlessly over both wired and wireless networks, to cater for different network or access point speeds and, at all times, utilise only a limited amount of network capability; in essence, to ensure it has zero impact on other IT users. Increasingly, schools are also embracing new PC technologies, not least thin or zero client computing. NetSupport works closely or has formal alliances with many of these manufacturers. NetSupport School works happily in Terminal Server, Citrix, Wyse, N-Computing and MiniFrame environments. To further explain our credentials in Education, NetSupport School is also the engine behind RM Tutor, Viglen Classlink and Ranger Remote Control. To cater for multi-platform classrooms, NetSupport School works side-by-side with NetSupport Assist, our Mac and Linux compatible monitoring solution. From the teacher s Windows PC you can also interact with and support students using Google Chromebooks, ios and Android tablets. Our free-to-download Tutor Assistant app is an extension to the traditional desktop Tutor application and can be installed on Apple ios and Android tablets/smartphones, offering teachers and their assistants greater mobility around the classroom. Our software is designed to be easy to install and use - it can be downloaded and installed in minutes. It will automatically discover computers on your network and provide a simple two-step process to install the Student software across your network without having to leave your desk. Historically, Student computers were identified and grouped by PC name and, as such, the onus was on the school to ensure all computers in each classroom carried a unique identifier. The latest versions of NetSupport School continue the ease of use theme. A handy Class Wizard enables the teacher to select the mode that best suits their requirements and guides them through identifying the students to be included in the class. Every feature in NetSupport School is included as standard. There are no hidden charges for add-on modules or extra costs for Teacher licences. Your onetime purchase is for a lifetime licence of the software, with the option of an annual maintenance plan that entitles you to both priority technical support and free updates to all future versions. System Requirements: Windows XP(SP2), 2003(SP2), Vista, 2008, Windows 7, Windows 8. NetSupport School operates in Terminal Server, Thin/ Zero Client, Virtual Desktop and shared-resource computing environments and is supported on Google Chromebooks and Android/iOS tablets. NetSupport School s fully compatible sister product, NetSupport Assist, is available for Apple Mac and Linux environments.
