2 Welcome Note of the President In the name of the board of directors of IH&RA, the Hotel and Restaurant I would like to welcome all to the 51 st IH&RA Annual Congress in Interlaken. The IH&RA Congress is one of the most important events for the catering and hotel trade worldwide as a source of and contacts. Many industry leaders together with guests from and economy will gather for an outstanding event. This will be the great rendezvous of the hospitality industry and an ideal opportunity for developing and your hospitality network. The Hotel and Restaurant (IH&RA) is the only trade exclusively devoted to and defending the interests of the hotel and restaurant industry worldwide. The hospitality industry is the backbone of tourism and one of the most important economy sectors worldwide with an annual revenue of almost 2 trillion US dollars. Even through difficult the industry has shown its ability to growing, to survive in a complex and world and to go on jobs, being a significant source of employment worldwide. Our sector has demonstrated its strength and professionalism to endure crises. The challenges for the industry are and have grown a lot in the last few years.
