1 IATA Commercial Strategy Symposium 2010 Revenue Management Track Speakers December 8 Gary Parker Revenue Management Track Chairman Founder and President, rmexpertise.com With over 22 years working in revenue management and training at airlines and travel-related companies around the globe, Gary Parker is a world-recognized subject matter expert. In partnership with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) through its Training and Development Institute, he has authored their RM training courses. Gary recently published a self-study RM course, launched at the Commercial Strategy Symposium in Las Vegas in December He provides revenue management system vendors and their customers with commercial application and business process and procedure support for their installations. Gary has also published in the Journal of Revenue and Pricing Management, and he has developed several more RM courses, which he has delivered at in-house seminars in airline companies and at airline industry conferences around the world. More recently, he is working online through a distance learning venue with individuals who are looking to improve their knowledge and skills in the field. Gary is a dynamic, highly rated conference speaker and chair. He has presented at many RM conferences and workshops, including: PROS, IATA, Eye-for-Travel, Marcus Evans, and Lufthansa Systems User Workshops.

2 Karl Isler, Head of Revenue Management Strategy and Operations Research Swiss International Air Lines Karl Isler is Head of Operations Research and Strategy at the Revenue Management and Pricing department of Swiss International Air Lines. He developed the concepts for the integrated O&D pricing and inventory control strategy used by Swiss Air Lines since In this context he is author of several articles dealing with dynamic pricing and airline revenue management. He received his Ph. D. degree in Theoretical Physics from ETH Zurich. Before joining Swiss Air in 1993, he was a post-doctoral research fellow in particle physics and quantum field theory at the universities of Montreal and Utrecht, Netherlands. Brian Wishlinski PROS Revenue Management Brian Wishlinski is the Senior Director for Product Management in PROS Revenue Management s Airline Division. His group is responsible for the product management activities for three of PROS airline solutions: PROS O&D, PROS RTDP and PROS Hybrid/Restriction-Free. Prior to joining PROS, Brian led the effort to implement origin-destination revenue management at Delta Air Lines. Additional airline experience includes work at the SH&E aviation consulting firm and American Airlines. Brian earned a master s degree in transportation at Northwestern University, a master s degree in business administration from DePaul University and a bachelor s degree in engineering from the University of Michigan.

3 Dieter Westermann Senior Vice President Revenue Management Qatar Airways Dieter Westermann is an employee of Qatar Airways and holds the position of Senior Vice President Revenue Management. In that role he is responsible for the Pricing and Revenue Management Department at this fast growing airline. Under his leadership Qatar Airways implemented a state-of-the-art O&D Revenue Management System and adapted the organization in order to focus on network traffic flows and point-of-sale. From July 2004 until October 2007 he has been working for Lufthansa Systems and held the position of Director Portfolio Management & Innovations. Dieter has extensive experience in revenue management business processes and systems as well as in the area of pricing, reservations and distribution. During his 19 years in the airline business he has worked for carriers such as Lufthansa and Swissair. During his assignment at Swiss International Air Lines as Vice President Business Solutions, he was responsible for the systems and business processes supporting Revenue Management, Pricing, Reservations & Inventory and CRS Distribution. Sebastien Tourraine Project Manger e-services, IATA Mr. Touraine leads IATA e-services project, one of IATA Simplifying the Business major initiative aiming at supporting airlines ancillary revenues growth with

4 the implementation of IATA's electronic miscellaneous document (EMD) standard. Before managing this project, he served as senior consultant or project manager in various IATA Consulting projects related to network planning, pricing & revenue management and distribution. Prior to this, Mr. Touraine worked in Network Planning & Strategy department at Swiss International Airline and Pricing & Revenue Management at Swissair in Zurich. Before his carrier at Swissair/Swiss, Mr Touraine was a pricing analyst at Air France in Paris and an intern with Airport Services Planning department of United Airlines in Chicago. Mr. Touraine holds a degree in Aeronautical Engineering from École Nationale de l Aviation Civile in Toulouse (France) with a specialization in Air Transportation Economy. Chris Tarry CEO, Aviation Industry Research and Advisory Chris Tarry worked outside the City of London for a number of years. In 1984 he became an engineering analyst, focusing first on Aviation and was voted the UK s leading aerospace analyst for the years that there was a separate FTSE grouping, before switching to focus wholly on transport and particularly airlines, a sector he has followed professionally since In this period Chris was also regularly ranked in the top three European transport analysts and had led a number of major international share issues. In December 2002 he established CTAIRA to provide research, consulting services and advice on and to the transport and aviation industries in the areas of business planning, including strategy and strategic development; industry and market forecasting and performance measurement and evaluation. These services are provided to a broad and growing spectrum of clients; airlines, manufacturing companies, airport owners, government bodies and banks and other financial institutions, covering a wide range of strategic, financial and market related issues. He is and has been an advisor to government departments and the UK Parliament on aviation issues including the review of air transport arrangements for the Royal

5 Family and senior Government ministers; he is currently a member of the UK CAA s advisory group in respect of the charging regime for the UK s regulated airports. He has undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in economics. He is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society, a member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, a member of the Securities Institute and a Freeman of the Guild of Air Pilots and Air Navigators. He also holds a private pilot s licence. He gives regular lectures at Cranfield, the Universities of Cambridge and Oxford and the London School of Economics and is a Visiting Senior Fellow in the School of Management at the University of Surrey. He writes a monthly column for Airline Business and regularly writes and comments in other media on industry issues as well as presenting and chairing conferences across the world. Senthil Balan Head of Strategy, Air Asia X Senthil is presently the Head of Route Planning & Regulatory Affairs at AirAsia X, long haul low cost carrier based out of Kuala Lumpur. The position puts Senthil in charge of route planning, regulatory affairs, schedule management, and charters, and was in the pioneer team that established the airline in AirAsia X shareholders include AirAsia Group, Virgin, and currently operates into 13 long haul destinations including Australia, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, China, India, United Kingdom and Iran. AirAsia X has invested in over 40 long haul aircraft, and plans to operate into 30 destinations from Kuala Lumpur over the next 5 years. Prior to AirAsia X, Senthil was with Malaysia Airlines, assisting with the corporate turnaround program between 2004 and 2006, and before that was with ASTRO ALL ASIA NETWORKS plc, one of South East Asia's largest media companies.

6 Cyril Tetaz Head of Airline Distribution Marketing, Amadeus Based at the corporate headquarters in Madrid, Cyril Tetaz is responsible for marketing Amadeus distribution services to over 490 airline customers. He plays a pivotal role in the evolution of Amadeus airline distribution commercial proposition, and drove the market launch of the Amadeus Airline Retailing Platform, a new solution designed to transform the GDS from a pure distribution offer to a more comprehensive retailing platform, for both airlines and travel agencies. Cyril joined Amadeus in 2004, primarily responsible for global account management with a large Travel Management Company. Prior to joining Amadeus, Cyril held the positions of Business Development Manager for a T&E software company and senior strategy consultant for Bain & Company. Jerry Foran Senior Manager, Product Delivery, Revenue Management, British Airways Jerry has worked for BA for more than 30 years and runs BA s Product Delivery unit which is responsible for the distribution of BA s Fares and Schedule, managing 100+ interline agreements and leading the support and development of BA s Revenue Management systems. For three years, he was based in Japan as Commercial Manager. He has extensive Revenue Management experience, including project managing BA s team on the Amadeus New Generation Inventory (Altea Plan) project

7 during its specification stage. He is a Director on the Board of the Airline Tariff Publishing Company and is Chairman of the IATA Passenger Tariff Conferences Steering Group. Stephen Kavanagh CCO, Aer Lingus Stephen Kavanagh is a graduate of University College Dublin and joined the Company in He undertook a number of analytical and management roles in fleet scheduling and business planning departments before being appointed Operations Planning Manager in 2003 with responsibility for the integration of network,aircraft and crew planning, and a focus on improved productivity and asset utilisation. Stephen was appointed to the senior management team in March 2006 as Planning Director and was appointed as Corporate Planning Director in November In 2009 he was appointed as Chief Commercial Officer in addition to his planning and commercial responsibility for the long haul and short haul business.
